3 Each nurse educator position left unfilled could affect the care of as many as 3.6 million patients per year according to the first estimate of the impact of the nation s persistent shortage of nursing faculty. Nationwide there are nearly 900 faculty vacancies among schools with baccalaureate programs, with thousands more anticipated in the next 15 years as current educators retire or return to practice. - First Estimate of Nursing Faculty Shortage Portends Widespread Patient Crisis Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence December 10, 2010 I am proud of all the Nurse Educators I have taught since the beginning of the Nursing Education concentration in the USF College of Nursing Master s Program. So many have gone on to make great accomplishments as faculty in schools of nursing, and as clinical educators in hospitals and other healthcare settings. The faculty and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed. I hope to come back for my PhD in a couple years. I couldn t have accomplished this without the inspiration by the excellent Nurse Education concentration at USF. In fact, I have returned to USF to complete my PhD in Nursing!
