2 California Red Woods & Trains Trip Itinerary Day 1 We will enjoy an afternoon of city sightseeing including Chinatown, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, Twin Peaks and the Presidio. Tonight, dinner is included at a local restaurant at Fisherman s Wharf, & lodging at the Holiday Inn Express, Fisherman s Wharf. Day 2 Napa Valley Wine Train & Gourmet Lunch Today, we travel north for a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train. The highlight of the day is a relaxing three-hour, thirty-six mile round-trip journey from the historic town of Napa, through one of the world s most well-known wine valleys to the quaint village of St. Helena, and back. We will enjoy a freshly prepared lunch in a fully restored Pullman Dining Car. We will pass the vineyards and wineries of Napa Valley. See the Giant Redwoods at Muir Woods The trees at Muir Woods range from years, their height up to 250 feet. Return to San Francisco after our visit. Free Evening in San Francisco As we return to beautiful San Francisco, you will have a free evening to explore on your own. Day 3 Roaring Camp & Big Trees Railroads This morning we ride into the past on a 19 th Century Steam Train. Travel over trestles, through towering redwood groves and up a winding narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain as conductors narrate the history of Roaring Camp, the railroad and the forest. Cruise to Alcatraz Travel back to San Francisco this afternoon and take a cruise to Alcatraz! The cruise takes you along San Francisco s waterfront, under the Golden Gate Bridge, along the Marin Headlands, around Alcatraz and back to Fisherman s Wharf. Dinner at a Local Restaurant Tonight, we end our day with dinner included at a local restaurant.

3 Day 4 Tour of Yosemite National Park This morning we travel to Yosemite National Park. Take an afternoon tour of the Park, first protected in 1864, Yosemite is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. Overnight Lodging, Mariposa, CA We continue travel to Mariposa, CA (210 miles). Check into our hotel for an overnight stay. Day 5 Visit the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historical Park This morning we visit the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historical Park located at the site of the gold discovery that started the 1849 California Gold Rush. The park features a museum, many original and restored buildings, and costumed volunteers. You can learn how to pan for gold, and even buy a gold pan there as well. Bekeart s Gun Shop, located in the Park, offers similar activities and old-fashioned trade goods. Visit the Railtown 1897 State Historical Park Next, we visit the Railtown1897 State Historical Park, home to the Historic Jamestown Shops and Roundhouse an intact and still-functioning locomotive repair and maintenance facility, portions of which date back to This one-of-a-kind attraction combines industrial heritage and railroad history with the lore of Hollywood s film industry. You will also have the opportunity to view movie props and other artifacts used in the production of feature films, TV shows, and commercials. One of the most popular of these is the mock-up of a 1880s railroad caboose used in filming for Back to the Future III. Other items of interest include fake rocks, background scenery, and numerous small-town station signs. Sacramento Dinner Train Tonight we enjoy dinner on the Sacramento RiverTrain. Enjoy a delicious meal and sunset views of the wide-open countryside. Day 6 Drive the Redwood Highway Today, we take a scenic drive along the Redwood Highway passing redwood groves and a rugged wave-carved shoreline of beaches, cliffs and sea stacks.

4 Chandelier Tree Next, we visit the Chandelier Tree, also known as the drive-thru tree. It is a giant redwood located north of San Francisco on US 101. The massive tree had the fate of having a tunnel carved through its base more than 60 years ago. Avenue of The Giants Redwood Tour As we continue, we will drive the Avenue of the Giants with a local tour guide. The Avenue of the Giants are the largest remaining stand of old growth redwoods in the world. Overnight Lodging, Garberville, CA Tonight, we will end up in Garberville, CA for an overnight stay. Dinner at a local restaurant As we come to the end of our evening, we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Day 7 Ride the Skunk Train Our morning begins as we travel to Fort Bragg for a ride on the Skunk Train. On this excursion, travel along the Pudding Creek estuary immediately out of the city limits. Quietly slipping into Tunnel No. 1, the train emerges into the Noyo River Canyon, the river you will cross for the balance of your journey to Northspur. Traveling at the base of the canyon, you are constantly looking up to see the tops of redwoods. Overnight Lodging San Francisco After our train ride, we will travel to San Francisco where we will be staying at an Airport Hotel for the evening. Dinner at a local restaurant Tonight, dinner is included at a local restaurant. Day 8 Depart for Home After breakfast, transfer to the airport and return flight home.
