3 1. Introduction The purpose of this document is to clearly define Floor Ready Standards for all parties involved in sourcing and selling merchandise. These standards provide a common understanding of floor ready requirements, thereby allowing measurement, feedback and continuous improvement. Myer has identified key floor ready key criteria / characteristics that form the building blocks of the floor ready matrices. A floor ready matrix has been developed for each of the following product types. Apparel (underwear / outerwear) Footwear Cosmetics General merchandise Electric Homewares Accessories This document must be used in conjunction with: Merchandise Packaging and Presentation Standards 1 Source Tagging Policy and Procedures Apparel dc8fb8fbf93d59b218c9 Homewares / General Merchandise b59004aa10cbb8bff93d59b218c9 2. Key Floor Ready Criteria Price Marking Product should be clearly price marked in a standardised location allowing visibility for the customer as agreed with the Buying team. Must feature a scannable barcode and other relevant details (eg. size, colour). 4 Security Tagging Security tagging will be in accordance with Myer standards as available from the Source Tagging Policy and Procedure document. Minimal Product Packaging Tissue Paper: Should only be used for merchandise requiring protection (eg., preserving plastisol prints) and to prevent damage during transit (eg., spring racing hats). Other Packaging: Packaging such as cardboard, paper and plastic inserts, clips and pins should NOT be used unless they are required to protect the quality and / or appearance of an item. Polystyrene Packaging: to protect a product when packaged in a carton, plastic blister packs should not be used, NOT polystyrene beans. Polystyrene beans must be removed and cleaned up and CANNOT be recycled. This is not compliant with the national Packaging Covenant, which Myer is obliged to comply with. Hanger per Myer Standard Myer requires standard hangers to be used as documented in the Merchandise Packaging and Presentation Standards document. Branded hangers should ONLY be used where approved by Myer. Folded and Packed per Myer Standard Table lines and folded items must be done in accordance with the relevant Myer standards. Folding and packaging standards are available from the Merchandise Packaging and Presentation Standards document. Hanging items should be received in hangwear bags OR packaged neatly into an appropriately sized carton with the hanger included. Eliminate Individual Poly-Bags Myer s expectation is that merchandise is not supplied in individual plastic bags except as noted below. Individual plastic bags should only be used where protection of the product is required and has been approved by Myer. Where individual plastic bags are required, lighter plastic should be used, as it is easier to remove from the merchandise. The plastic bag specifications are outlined in the Merchandise Packaging and Presentation Standards document. Plastic Lined Carton or Hangwear Bags To provide protection for garments that are not individually poly-bagged, the carton should be lined with plastic. Merchandise delivered in hangwear bags should NOT contain individual plastic bags for each item, unless approved by Myer. Floor Ready Standards Page 4 of 11

Hanging items should be received in Hangwear bags OR packaged neatly into an appropriately sized carton with the garment already on hanger. Floor Ready Standards Page 5 of 11

6 OUTERWEAR Hanging Table Packaged Hangers As per Myer s standards Folded &/or packed as per Myer s standards Plastic lined carton or garment bag Hanging items should be received in Hangwear bags OR packaged neatly into an appropriately sized carton with the garment already on hanger. Apparel that is susceptible to damage or bruising from hangers due to its delicate nature or materials (e.g. traditional, bulky knitwear) should not be shipped with garments placed on hangers. Hangers should however be provided separately in the carton. Products should only be individually poly-bagged if made of a delicate fabric (e.g. Silk, Organza) that could be damaged in transit and there is a delicate nature to the garment (e.g. delicate straps, beading, fringe, appliqué, embroidery etc.). For denim products, if it s inherent in the nature of the garment to be folded like denim then it should be sent in folded against Myer folding guidelines. FOOTWEAR Hang Sell Boxed Price marked Security tagged Minimal product packaging Plastic lined carton or garment bag Eliminate individual poly-bags For Boxed footwear, it is important that Boots are price marked on two perpendicular sides of the box so the necessary product details are visible when stored in the reserve. Additionally it would be preferred that an extra price sticker (as attached to the carton) would be contained in the carton of the display shoe size (Womens 7, Mens 9/10) that could be attached to the sole of the shoe. This would remove the manual process currently performed by Stores of attaching a blank sticker and hand-writing the product & price details Floor Ready Standards Page 6 of 11

7 COSMETICS Open Sell Packaged Price marked Security tagged Minimal product packaging Exceptions/Guidelines- Security tagging for open sell Fragrances is a key element Avoid the use of polystyrene beans, if required use plastic blister packs for protection GENERAL MERCHANDISE- Open Sell Closed Sell Packaged CARDS/PENS/PAPER GENERAL MERCHANDISE- Open Sell Closed Sell Packaged CONFECTIONERY Exceptions/Guidelines Most Confectionery will NOT require Price marking due to the use of shelf talkers Event confectionery only require pricing, this will be done by the suppliers before arriving into store GENERAL MERCHANDISE- Open Sell Closed Sell Packaged GIFTS & FRAMES Exceptions/Guidelines Packaging for frames should have visual representations of the product that is packaged as to avoid opening each product to determine what it is and to match up open displayed products Floor Ready Standards Page 7 of 11

8 GENERAL MERCHANDISE- Open Sell Packaged TOYS Price marked Security tagged Minimal product packaging Plastic lined carton Eliminate individual poly-bags (some hanging accessories etc) Exceptions/Guidelines Toy cartons ideally include a description of the product contained in the carton, this clearly indicates team members informed about the product within the carton when replenishing stock. GENERAL MERCHANDISE- BOOKS Price marked Security tagged Minimal product packaging Open Sell Exceptions/Guidelines With price marking books the price required is the Publisher s Recommended Retail Price and not the discounted price that Myer sell it for. For minimal product packaging, flow is the appropriate carton packaging to use as it keeps the books protected and is made from organic material. 9 GENERAL MERCHANDISE- Travel Goods Open Sell Closed Sell Packaged ELECTRIC Open Sell Close Sell Hang Sell Packaged Exceptions/Guidelines The standard for small and large electrical items is to use shelf talkers to communicate the price. (Eg. 6*4 s, shelf talkers etc.) Standard practice is not to price mark, hanging accessories do require price marking HARD HOMEWARES Open Sell Closed Sell Packaged Plastic lined carton The standard position for price marking products in glassware, dinnerware and cookware it is recommended that the price be located on the right hand side of the product and not on the front. As in many circumstances these products are bought as gifts, having the price label away from the front of the packaging maintains display quality. Floor Ready Standards Page 9 of 11

10 SOFT HOMEWARES Open Sell Table/Folded Packaged Folded &/or packed as per Myer s standards Plastic lined carton or garment bag Packaging for bathroom accessories should have visual representations of the product that is packaged as to avoid opening each product to determine what it is. Towels must be folded as per the Myer standard. ACCESSORIES- Open Sell Close Sell Hang Sell Packaged SUNGLASSES WATCHES & HANDBAGS Minimal product packaging Plastic lined carton Eliminate individual poly-bags Extra packaging such as tissue paper and plastic should only be used in bags and wallets for a strict purpose (e.g. preserving the shape of the product). For price marking on sunglasses it is important that mandatory standards need to be included in this list to ensure we are covering compliance with Sunglass labelling. 11 ACCESSORIES- Open Sell Hang Sell Packaged SOFT ACCESSORIES & HOSIERY Plastic lined carton - Hair accessories (e.g. hair clips) should be individually poly-bagged as this prevents the product from breaking, as these products are quite fragile. Scarves should not be individually bagged unless the product is made of sensitive materials such as silk or any other sensitive materials. Spring Racing Hats would need protection with poly-bags. Price marking position for price sticker on accessories should be on the reverse side of the swing tag. ACCESSORIES- JEWELLERY - Open Sell Hang Sell Closed Sell Plastic lined carton Jewellery should only be individually bagged when preventing products from tangling (e.g. necklaces and bracelets) or safety reasons (e.g. earrings having a protruding pin).
