3 3/8 Sound and Lighting Specifications. Updated on July 3, 2012 This document, which contains a lot of sound jargon, is to be used as a guideline to do a good show for Saara Aalto with the bands technical personnel. All of the audio related things said and asked for in this document are here for a reason, for my sake hopefully a good reason. If you have any difficulties to fulfill our needs or you just want to chat with someone, please contact FOH engineer, which is I, well in advance so we can talk things through. You can get in touch with me using this address marko@angle.fi. If nobody contacts me we assume that everything is as wanted. We are not mean or particularly picky people, we just want to do our job with the best possible result with the least amount of extra work or worries. And NO we will not share channels with anybody. And please note that all of our equipment works on V 50 Hz AC and all outlets must be German type shuko plugs. We need at least 2 Finnish or English speaking local house technicians who are familiar with the local equipment and electricity. They must be present from the time of load-in until the end of load-out. Minimum of 4 (if the venue has stairs/other obstacles, 6) qualified and sober stagehands (at least 2 english or finnish speaking) available for load-in, load-out, stage set-up and probable changeover with no cost to Saara Aalto band. For every missing or drunken helper we charge 200. Backline is NOT to be shared with support acts, and will NOT be strucked or moved either after sound check or between shows At festivals: Area to unpack and prepare the backline at least 1,5 hours before changeover. 4 4/8 P.A. and F.O.H. P.A. Stereo please, minimum of 3-way active professional speaker system (L-Acoustics K1,V-dosc, Dv dosc/kudo/kiva/d&b J/V8/V12) Small venues linearray set is not necessary: KV2 audio VHD2.0/ES10. The system must be powerful enough for the venue and the system should also be able to cover the entire audience area with equal frequency response. (This means that it should sound the same everywhere) Please no Behringer, Dod, Alesis. and home made Equipment. Front fills/center clusters or whatever must be added to cover the area right in front of the stage. The system should reach 110dB(A) sound pressure at F.O.H. location uncompressed and undistorted. (I m not crazy; I just want that the system has enough headroom.) F.O.H. position should be placed in the center of the audience area at roughly 1.5 times PA width distance from the stage and under no circumstances on a riser or on/under a balcony. System processing & EQ s All crossovers, processors, EQ s and possible system delays must be located at F.O.H. (That is only if possible of course, we don t want you to drag the L acoustics or D&B amps to the F.O.H. positionj 2 channels of 31-band graphic for master EQ (Klark Teknik /XTA). We believe that the system is already tuned for flat frequency response upon our arrival and with this graphic EQ we just want to adjust the system that it doesn t have flat response anymore. Makes sense. Master insert WAVES Maxx BCL please! F.O.H. engineer must have full access to all the control equipment. F.O.H. console A minimum of 32 input console of professional quality with at least 8 VCA:s. Midas H4000/3000/ Digital word is ok but Digico SD8/10, In each input channel there should be a 4-band parametric EQ, variable low-cut, insert point, separate phantom (+48V) and 8 separate aux sends. I like good professional gear. F.O.H. effects if concole is analog 1 Digital delay (TC 2290 /TC D-two) up to 1500ms in range, Tap tempo is also a good thing. 3 Multieffects (Yamaha SPX 990 /TC M3000 /PCM-80/91) F.O.H. inserts if console is analog 6 channels of compressor (dbx / BSS), 4 channels of gate (Drawmer / BSS). 2 channels of gomp + gate
5 5/8 F.O.H. misc 1 miniplug wired for own computer. 1 stereo XLR wired for own recording. Intercom system between MON and F.O.H. mix positions. If the venue is small I can do the monitors by myself from FOH console. In that case I need 8 ch FOH returns to monitors in stage. F.O.H. console and racks should be well light. 1 Talkback from F.O.H. to monitor desk, this means a microphone with a switch located at the F.O.H. desk and connected to the monitor console and a shoutbox beside the MON console. The channel which to connect the TB mic at the monitor console is up to you and that channel is not going to be used during the show. It s only for line/ soundcheck. But please remember to tell me the channel where you connected it, it s easier for me to find it that way. STAGE Staging A minimum of 6 meters wide, 4 meters deep and 0.80 meters high, solid, even and safe stage with a black carpet on top. Clearance: 5m (16 ft). Drumriser 2m x 3m x 0.4-0,6m At festivals: Drum riser must be on wheels. Drum riser must be available for set-up at least 1 hour before changeover.
6 6/8 SAARA AALTO MONITORS At the moment we do not have own monitor engineer. If the venue is small I can do the monitors by myself from FOH console. In that case I need 8 ch FOH returns to monitors in stage. Bands need 6 wedge mixgroups And bigger stage setup we wish L&R sidefills Monitor console location is preferred stage left, where possible. A view to the stage without any obstacles in the way and easy access to stage is a must. Intercom system between MON and F.O.H. mix positions MUST HAVE A BLAZON- TYPE VISIBLE BEACON CALL LIGHTS AT BOTH ENDS. 2 (two) tall mic stands for antennas. Somethimes we using in-ear monitoring and we bring the equipment needed. We use wireless lead vocal mic. Please inform us in advance if there are any frequencies between MHz, which are not available. 7 7/8 Lighting Requirements CLUBS CONVENTIONALS FRONT TRUSS: Front wash (We wish min. 5 x 1 kw per wash, for example 5 x PAR 64 1 kw) in colours: Lee 180 (Dark Lavender) Lee 181 (Congo Blue) and Lee 200 (Double C.T. Blue). In cold wash, profiles (ETC) are preferred (Each in own channel). MOVING LIGHTS WASH LIGHTS: We Wish at least 8 wash type moving heads as backwash. SPOT LIGHTS: We wish at least 8 spot type moving heads SPECIALS: 1 x powerful hazer. BACKDROP We wish black backdrop needed. PERSONNEL: At least one (1) professional and English or Finnish speaking lighting operator must be present from the time of load-in until the end of load-out.
