3 Introduction What does it take to live a life of purpose and having choice about what you want? Why does success seem to come so easily to some, while others struggle and fail? And how do you build the kind of life you ve always wanted and doing something your passionate about? Here is the key to both failure and success; We become what we think about. This simple phrase We become what we think about once realized can be one of the most important yet so simple steps one can make towards the attainment of your goals. The great philosophers throughout time disagreed on many things, but on this one thing they are in total and unanimous agreement, you are what you think about. This being said how do you think? And how have you programmed your mind to think? Your habitual way of how you perceive what is around you forms the framework for success you can have in life. This takes many years to form right up to the way you react to stimuli and situations today. You are where you are today as a result of where your imagination and thinking has lead you. Imagination is more Important than Knowledge - Albert Einstein From the time you are born right up to now we develop ways in which we view the world around us. This is based on family values and believes, geographical location, personality and personal experiences weather it be good or bad. You create your world from how and what you THINK. If you think you can or you think you can t, you are right. - Henry Ford So in order to get the results you currently don t have but would like to have is simply this we need to change our thinking, The best and quickest way to change your thinking is Coaching and Mentoring. Coaches and Mentors can guide you in such a way to help you see things you didn't see before that inturn help you achieve your goals quicker. We are boxed in by the boundary conditions of thinking. - Albert Einstein What do wealthy people do differently to get a different result? There was a study done on some of the most wealthiest people in the world. The findings of the study proved that the wealthy didn't have much in common, but what they did have in common resulted in how successful people view the world and their outlook on life and how they deal with problems or what they call challenges. Because every one has challenges, life can throw us a lemon, but it is the power of our psychology to turn that lemon into lemonade. This power can spiral you upward to the greater levels of success and this power can spiral you downwards to the greater levels of despair. A wise man once said Anything that we get given in life for free we place little to no value and take for granted, but these things are the most important things in our Lives Like family, your body, your mind and your life. So what do wealthy people do differently? They think differently; Positively They take Responsibility for their lives. They are pro-active. The most common reason people don t do anything is the most simplest someone else will do it. The very first step to begin with is knowing what you want and being specific. The key to getting what you want is bringing those abstract thoughts into enough specificity and concreteness through goal setting. The goal setting procedure outlined next is one of the most powerful goal setting techniques out there. 4 Well formed outcomes (Goal setting) This is a powerful set of goal-setting techniques and with action they become very potent in the achievement of what you want. Before anything else, take stock of where you are currently. The easiest way to do this is to score each area out of ten (10). For example; 10 out of 10 would be the best that it could be, and 2 out of 10 could mean some goal-setting and getting more clarity around that area of your life. This is going to be key in the balance that the wheel represents. Be bold and honest when you write your goals. What if you did achieve these goals? This could be a pivotal point, right now, in your life's journey. Give yourself a good hour to an hour and a half, in a quiet place where you will be undisturbed. When you are writing your goals, use different coloured pens. This helps stimulate the brain. Most importantly, make it big and keep it simple and clear. A well formed outcome is just that an outcome for something you desire, or a goal that is well formed; meaning that you have a clear-cut method of achieving it. (*tips) 1. What specifically do you want? *(It is helpful to think in terms of chunks of time for example; Six months or five years. What you would like to achieve in say, six months time. The key is this; the more descriptive and clear you are, the more likelihood you have of getting what you want. Also keep the focus on what you want, rather than what you don t want.) 2. What is currently within your control that you can do to attain this? *(Things like your job and receiving income, or time everyone has twenty-four hours in a day, but it s how you use that time with planning.) 3. When, where, and how specifically do you want this? *(Write this in a phrase and keep it in positive terms, towards what you want. Try not to use phrases like, I don't want this or I don't want that. Rather, phrase it more like the following Now is the 28th of September 2018, I will be in Sydney, Australia looking out at the view of my newlybuilt home and my wife is congratulating me. And I did it by following my well formed outcome.) 4. Describe specifically how this will feel when you have this? *(Use all of your senses. Make it as vivid as possible; what you see, feel, and hear, and what you say to yourself.) 5. What are the steps you will take to obtain this? *(What is something you can do today and tomorrow towards this goal? Like a logical sequence of events that needs to take place, in order for you get want you want.) 6. What resources do you require to obtain this? *(What things do you know you need in order to achieve your goals?) 7. What resources do you already have to obtain this? *(What do you currently have that could help you?) 8. How will you know when you have this? What is your evidence? *(What is some physical evidence; for example, if your goal was to buy an investment property, how will you know when the deal has gone through? Is it signing the mortgage documents? This will be different for everyone. For some it could be when the tenants move in. Have a good think about this!). 9. Does this outcome fit into my life and have no consequences to myself or others that would be harmful or painful? *(This could quite simply be a yes or no answer, which basically spells out Is this safe to me, safe to others and safe to the planet?) After you finish doing the exercises what do you notice now about your goals that you did in the well formed outcome? Its amazing once you have a plan, how start now towards your goals! A personal vision is the foundation upon which to develop your long-term goals. By having a goal setting plan you bridge the gap between today's dreams and tomorrow's reality.
