With close to 70 channels in their bouquet and an estimated 40 per cent share in viewership, the new entity would have far greater ability to negotiate higher share of the subscription pie and lower carriage fees with MSOs. The hit on MSOs will be significant. The deterioration in the business model of MSOs and LCOs will accelerate the pace of consolidation in the cable industry.
