2 NV Energy s role in Nevada goes far beyond keeping the lights on. Our company and our employees take great pride in making our communities a better place to live and work. In 2013, NV Energy and its Foundation gave nearly $5.4 million to support 500 nonprofits statewide. NV Energy provides funds to local nonprofit organizations that support public education, protection of the environment, youth development, arts and multi-cultural outreach, and health and human services. Employees spend their lunchbreak building chains for the Lose A Pound with Your Hound walk event. Standing behind NV Energy s philanthropic commitment were its employees who volunteered 44,834 hours of their time to help nonprofits throughout the state. Boys Night Out with the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada is a favorite volunteer event. 3 Energy Assistance Project REACH helps vulnerable adults living in Clark County with their electric bills. To qualify customers must be at least 62 years old, medically fragile or active Reserve and National Guard members and meet the program s income qualifications. In 2013 we distributed $264,295 in Project REACH assistance to 1,274 customers. $173,000 of that amount was distributed at the Senior Energy Assistance Expo to 822 customers. This event would not have been possible without our nearly 200 employees and 16 community partners who helped plan and staff this important event. Scholarship Programs 120 high school seniors have a bright college future ahead of them, thanks in part to a $1,000 Powerful Partnership scholarship from NV Energy. These one-time scholarships are awarded based on program criteria, and may be used at any accredited university, college or trade school. Last year we gave $120,000 to high school seniors statewide. Since the program s inception in 2000, we have awarded more than 700 scholarships. Our scholarship program is one of the ways we support the attainment of higher education for students. In northern Nevada, the Special Assistance Fund for Energy or SAFE program provided $350,763 in energy assistance to 2,072 NV Energy customers in 15 northern Nevada counties. NV Energy employees volunteered their time to help local senior citizens at the Senior Energy Assistance Expo. Nevada high school students in northern (upper photo) and southern (lower photo) Nevada celebrate their Power Partnership Scholarships. Hours and Hours NV Energy employees raised the bar yet again on showing their commitment to the community. In 2013, more than 2,500 employees gave 44,834 hours as volunteers to 175 organizations in Nevada. And with the estimated value of a volunteer hour at $22.14, the volunteering contributions are close to $1 million for Employees participated in more than 1,400 volunteer events, focusing on the causes that they are passionate about including, health and human services, hunger, seniors, homelessness, animals, veterans, education and the environment. recognizing and rewarding their work; and providing grants to the nonprofit organizations they volunteer with through our Dollars for Doers program. Additionally, our senior management team and other employees serve on the boards of more than 100 nonprofit organizations throughout the state. Employees are all smiles as they get ready for Girls Day at the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada. NV Energy supports employee volunteers by helping them find community service opportunities;

4 Hole in One Golfing was a great way to have some fun while helping an important cause. This year, NV Energy and IBEW 396 planned and ran the second annual United Way Golf Benefit for the United Way of Southern Nevada. More than 160 golfers took part in the event that raised more than $20,000 to support essential services in the community. Volunteers from NV Energy, IBEW 396 and United Way of Southern Nevada helped organize and run this popular tournament. In northern Nevada, the annual United Way benefit golf tournament included 148 players from NV Energy, IBEW 1245 and a number of community sponsors. This event netted a $10,695 donation to United Way of Northern Nevada. Jay Wiggins and John Owens get ready for a day of golfing fun benefiting United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierras. Our United Way Campaign included a number of volunteer events, including preparing meals at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. More than 75 employees made the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday a day on, not a day off at Three Square Food Bank. Our Energy Effciency team share conservation tips with local students. Employees and their family members rake leaves and clean up Dorostkar Park. NV Project assembles and ships packages to the men and women serving our country overseas.

5 Lineman s Rodeo Members of IBEW 1245 and 396 donned full climbing gear to raise money for United Way of Northern Nevada in the first-ever Lineman s Rodeo in northern Nevada. This exciting competition featured linemen throughout Nevada who demonstrated their training and skills in rodeo events based on everyday tasks. Journeymen Linemen from IBEW 1245 donated their time to judge the competition and provide expert safety demonstrations between events. A host of vendors and volunteers staffed the event, which was open to the public. This event raised $13,000 for our United Way campaign. NV Energy s Foundation Grant Breakfast honored the work of local nonprofits. Participants show their climbing techniques at the first annual Lineman s Rodeo benefiting United Way Employees join together to spruce up walking trails around Independence Lake Elementary school students learn about renewable energy during NV Energy s Clark County School District Day at TPC Summerlin. Nautical Adventure The third annual volunteer day at Independence Lake turned into a day on the water. The 22 NV Energy volunteers were transported to their work locations in motor boats so that they could perform trail maintenance and other stewardship activities in a remote location. This pristine alpine lake, located in the Sierra Mountains, was transferred from NV Energy ownership to The Nature Conservancy in The Nature Conservancy s Independence Lake Preserve is a special place, and it represents a legacy for NV Energy and its employees.
