4 ACADEMIC PATHWAYS These course offerings are aligned with the Colorado Career Cluster Model (see figure, page 2). This model consists of 17 Career Clusters, which are groupings of occupations and industries. These groupings are used as an organization tool for student 4-year planning and course selection, as well as seamless transition into postsecondary education and careers. Each year, students select a Career Cluster, choose either an Academic or Technical pathway, and are expected to follow the recommended Individual Career and Academic Plan of Study (ICAP) within the chosen cluster and pathway. An ICAP will help students and parents outline courses the student will take during his or her high school years. All ICAP pathways meet Adams 12 graduation and CDHE higher education admission requirements, incorporate classes that will prepare students for careers and/or further study within the Career Cluster, and offer students open elective choice.
