27 Success Coaching What is a Success Coach? Our Approach Proactive, ongoing support Advising Career Planning and Placement Four-Year College Transfer Current Coaches

28 What is a Success Coach? A Success Coach is assigned to every student once scheduled for classes Success Coaches meet with students on a weekly basis Success Coaches meet with students mostly by phone but also connect via IM, , and Facebook Scheduled meetings usually last about 25 to 30 minutes Students can (and do!) connect with their coach outside of scheduled times and multiple times per week. Meetings are tailored to the students specific needs and focus on a range of topics related to the students college experience

Our Approach Success Coaching provides students with ongoing support and connection, increasing their satisfaction with the student experience, in addition to their willingness and ability to persist. How? Powerful Questions Providing Accountability Motivating Students Creating Action Plans Action Connect The Coaching Model Develop Evaluate

30 What is a Success Coach? Examples of coaching session topics include: Student effectiveness Navigating the college structure and online platform Academic success Balancing external commitments (job, family, etc.) with school Finances, including budgeting Future plans

31 Advising From day one, Success Coaches collaborate with the student to ensure that they are enrolled in classes that are advancing them towards their degree Adding, dropping, and changing classes is something that students can work with their coach to accomplish

32 Career Planning and Placement Coaches also help students identify appropriate academic majors and career goals Coaches can leverage online resources Coaches can leverage online resources (through TU) that are free to students to do vocational personality assessments in addition to cover letter and resume writing support

33 Four-Year College Transfer Coaches are identifying student s four-year college choice (if known) from day one. Coaches help students meet the requirements to transfer by supporting course selection and encouraging students to earn strong grades. Students that are undecided can leverage their coach to gain clarity around their options and future transfer goals.
