3 2016 Sponsorship Overview About the Event The Watershed Summer Gala is Watershed Committee s signature event and celebrates clean water in the Ozarks. This event will provide your company with a unique cause marketing opportunity to co-brand your company with the mission of the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks. Your company will be proud to be a part of this special event and will shine in the eyes of our community who come to support our mission while enjoying a fun summer evening. Our Mission For over 30 years, the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks has been working to sustain and improve the water resources of Springfield and Greene County through education and effective management of the region s watersheds. Event Details WHEN: July 16, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. WHERE: Springfield Art Museum TICKETS: $40 per person, purchase online at WatershedCommittee.org HIGHLIGHTS: Watercolor USA and other fantastic exhibits, silent auction featuring local art, local food and beer, wine and a wine grab, seeing old friends and making new ones. 4 What Your Money Does Water is vital to our bodies, our economy, and our quality of life. The work of keeping it clean, inexpensive, and plentiful often goes unnoticed. But every single day, that s what we do. Here are a few examples: We educate thousands of people every year children and adults, citizens and professionals about our local water resources and how to protect them. In 2015 we completed the Big Urbie project: a $1.1 million grant that generated $769,000 in local match toward stormwater best management practices which reduce nonpoint source pollutants in Springfield and Greene County. We test the quality of the water in our local waterways, and we help trace the flow of groundwater. We keep water as an issue in the forefront with community leaders, and foster partnerships for clean water. We help our local governments (the City of Springfield and Greene County) meet their federally mandated requirements and save money. We identify sources of pollution and needs for improvement, then apply for grant assistance to address those problems. With your help, we met our fundraising goal of $20,000 last year and we were able to complete all the necessary repairs to our fishing piers and boardwalk at the Watershed Center at Valley Water Mill Park. 12 Become a Sustainer What is a WCO Sustainer? Our Sustainers are a core group of WCO donors who choose to support WCO s ongoing work in the community with recurring monthly contributions. These contributions are made through Community Foundation of the Ozarks, so the amount of your choice can be donated automatically into WCO s Long Term Fund. These funds are primarily used for education and outreach programs, such as field trips, program materials and Watershed Center needs. Thanks to the partnership with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, the contributions are safe, easy, and automatic. By contributing $100 dollars or more annually (or about $8 a month), individuals and businesses can choose a complimentary gift for their support. How can I become a Sustainer? Becoming a WCO Sustainer is convenient and easy to do in just a few steps.
