>>> product & material testing Quality monitoring and optimisation of sensory and molecular attributes of your products and materials with Odournet
Excellence in Odour Testing Sensory analysis can help to optimise your product both on the level of perception and costs. As an accredited test laboratory specialising in odour assessment, Odournet conduct analyses, research and development in the fields of sampling, assessment and measurement of odours with a view to enhancing your product. The main focus of our activities is to evaluate the odorous properties of products and materials from a human sensory viewpoint. A range of standard techniques are used, and bespoke tests are commonly designed to fit your requirements. Test design is driven by our specialist knowledge of how to analyse the full range of odour characteristics and an understanding of which of these measurement techniques can be used to help improve your products and/or demonstrate their effectiveness. A combination of standardised laboratory test methods and target-group-specific home use tests can be used to evaluate specific product characteristics. It is possible to evaluate the properties of solid materials, liquids, and gases. Our capabilities are based on: Sensory Analysis to determine parameters, such as odour concentration, odour intensity, hedonic tone and acceptance, as well as polarity and aromatic profiles GC-MS and GC-MS Sniffing, combining GC separation with sensory analysis Field Research, using, for instance in-use tests, online surveys und text message voting Training & consulting in all matters concerning the measurement and assessment of odours. Group and individual training sessions are available. Dynamic Olfactometry Individual Sampling CLIMPAQ Chamber Test Static Olfactometry Odour Testing GC-Sniffing Electronic Nose Direct Assessment Covered Glass Test Proficiency Test Panellist Training & Calibration
Product and Material Testing Sensory analysis Olfactometry: Determination of odour concentration/ odour threshold according to EN Odour intensity & hedonic tone: Determination of odour strength and relative unpleasantness of an odour according to VDI 3882 and VDA 270 Determination of the perceived intensity according to ISO Determination of odour polarity profiles Character assessment: Determination of the character of an odour (e.g. smells like lemon, flowers, sewage etc) Acuity assessment: Assessment of the sensory acuity or sense of smell of an individual involved in odour regulation. Sensory testing of indoor air according to VDI 4302 Molecular analysis GC-MS: Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectroscopy. Characterisation of an odour in terms of specific volatile chemical components: A range of services are available to target specific compound groups (e.g. mercaptans; ketones etc); or provide a broad analysis of all component compounds. GC-O: Gas Chromatography - Olfactometry. Characterisation of an odour in terms of specific volatile organic chemical component with simultaneous assessment of the odour character of each individual component Trace gas analysis: Analysis of specified trace gases (e.g. Ammonia, mercaptans, H₂S etc) Determination of aroma profiles
Field Research Consumer Studies We develop your customized product test design! We set up panel groups according to the sociodemographic criteria and locations required. Data Collection Odournet collect your data through: in-use tests, personal/non-personal surveys (multi-media), group discussions (mediative/provocative), open innovation procedures (idea management) and online panels. Our statistical outlook aims to obtain synergy in results by integrating mixed data from laboratory and field experiments. Our Odournet web exchange server keeps you up to date about the progress of the project at all times. Text Message Voting Tool The Odournet Text Message Voting Tool offers you the possibility of targeted real-time polls on product efficiency and product experience. Consultancy services R&D Research: Development of innovative odour analysis and assessment tools Training: Specialist training of personnel in odour sampling, analysis, assessment and appraisal techniques
Sensory Experts since 1980 Experience Odournet is the largest consultancy specialised on odour testing and can rely on 30 years of specialist experience with practical knowledge from thousands of studies in all odour relevant sectors. Our activities in the area of product and material testing cover a wide range of industrial sectors, including automobile parts, personal hygiene, deodorants and sanitary products, incontinence control products, natural gas odorisation, electrical equipment, electronic parts, textiles, household appliances etc. Locations Odournet employ more than 70 specialist staff in 6 accredited odour laboratories including a GC-MS laboratory and a specialised laboratory for product and material testing. Our labs are distributed across Europe, Asia and Latin America, allowing intercultural sensory testing under a standardised quality management and repeatable test conditions. Quality Odournet s Center of Competence for Product & Material Testing is located in Germany. The high-quality odour laboratory is accredited according to EN ISO/IEC with more than 35 permanent trained and selected panellists. As a result of our cooperation in national and international standardisation groups, which stretches back for decades, the process developments and measuring methods for odours have been strongly influenced by us. Thanks to our consultation and the use of Odournet devices, a lot of official laboratories all over the world have Odournet influenced know-how available to them, which has flowed into the legislation and guidelines of many countries. In the following sections we provide a comprehensive overview of our services.
