3 Preparing to Install Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental engagement of starter motor. Drain coolant from system If your A/C is intact and charged it must be evacuated. This is best done by a professional garage with proper recycling equipment Installing the Kit Photo 1. Install new Water Pump (P175) to the block. Remove the existing alternator, air conditioning compressor and associated brackets. Remove all pulleys and water pump. Remove all traces of old gasket and sealer with gasket scraper and steel wool pad. Clean threads in block by chasing with appropriate thread chasers. 1. Photo 2. Using silicone sealer to ensure a water tight seal, install thermostat on to water pump. Then install the supplied water neck adapter (40707-A) next install the adjustable water neck using (2) M8x 125 x 35mm SHCS (S553). Make sure neck is facing straight up. 2. Photo 3. PN #40703-A Install the (2) Threaded 2" Spacers (S771) onto the rear support bracket using (2) 3 8 x 1" SHCS (S248) noting that the threaded rods mount to the same side as the 3 Smaller Countersinks. Install (2) M8 x 100mm SHCS (S559) thru the 2 inner holes as shown then on the back side of the bracket slide on (1) TP Spacer (inner top bolt) and (1) TP Spacer (inner lower hole). In the outer center hole use (1) M8 x 40mm (S556) thru the front of the bracket and on the rear slide (1) TP Spacer as shown in photo (3). TP Spacer TP Spacer TP Spacer 3.

PN #40702-A Install the (2) threaded Spacers onto the rear Alt. support Bracket using (2) 3 8 x 1" SHCS (S248) noting that the threaded rods mount to the same face as the three smaller counter sinks, Use (2) M8x 100mm SHCS (S559) in the 2 outer holes as shown. Now slide (2) TP Spacers onto the bolts from the back side as shown. In the Center hole use (1) M8 x 40mm (S556) and on the back side use (1) TP Spacer as Shown. TP Spacers TP Spacer 4. Photo 5. Install A/C Bracket (40703-A) to the water pump as shown, on the right side of the water pump. 5. Photo 6. Install Alternator bracket (40702-A) to the water pump as shown, on the left side of the water pump. 6. Photo 7. Installing the front main bracket (40701-A), using (4) 3 8 x 1" SHCS (S248) and mount the main bracket onto the 4 threaded Studs. Leave loose at this time Install Bolt to Align Brackets Photo 8. Before torquing down the main bracket bolts, make sure you have proper alignment between the front and rear brackets by temporally installing the lower Alternator mounting bolt. Torque main bracket bolts to 70 ft LBs. Tech Support

In the upper front slot install (1) (MM100) Bushing and use (1) M8 x 35mm SHCS (S553) in the lower A/C front tapped hole use (1) M8 x 25mm SHCS (S551) and in the rear support installing from the rear use a TP Spacer between the rear support bracket and the A/C unit and a 5 16 x 2" SHCS (S155) as shown. (Note that the A/C Lines point up) Photo 11. This picture shows the A/C unit with the rear spacer and bolt in place and the front bushing and bolts in place. 11. Photo 12. Mounting of the Alternator Unit (P572) in the upper front slot use (1) (MM100) Bushing and (1) M8 x 35mm SHCS (S553) In the lower alternator hole use (1) 3 8 x 3 1 2" SHCS (S270) in the rear support bracket use the BS3.700 bushing in the bore then install with the 3 8" Locknut (S622). 12. Photo 13. Install the Power Steering unit (P315) to the Power Steering Bracket (40706-A) using (3) M8 x 25mm SHCS as shown

6 Photo 14. Install the Power steering bracket to the main bracket with (2) 3 8 x 1" SHCS (S248). For kits without power steering use the two (S248) bolts and secure with 3 8" x 16 nuts (S620) to fill in mounting holes. Installing the idler pulley (740-A) to the Power Steering Bracket. Use (1) 3 8 x 2 1 4" SHCS (S260) and use the provided Spacer (AC3-.312) Alum. Bushing between the idler pulley and the main bracket also use the 3 8" washer (S666) as shown. TC Bushing between Idler and Bracket 14. Photo 15. First install the crank hub (365-A) over the O.E.M crank pulley using the factory bolt. Installing the hub so it locks into place. Use the factory bolt and a couple of drops of red lock tight. Torque to 150 Lbs. Install the crank pulley (6341-A) using (3) 3 8 x 1" SHCS (S248) over the new hub. 15. Photo 16. Install the power steering pulley (618-A) and press on with a proper install tool to align with the crank pulley. 16. Photo 17. Install the Alternator Fan (221-A), Alt Pulley (208-A) and cover (307-A) with three 8 32 x 1" SHCS (S028). Slide the fan over the shaft followed by the Alt Pulley. Use the lockwasher (S685) and lock nut (we recommend a impact for installation of alt pulley, impact to 90 ft, pounds). 17. Photo 18. Install A/C Cover (394-A) with (3) M6 x 1.0 x 16mm button head bolts (S520). Install (4) Idler Caps and P/S Cap (302-A) with 8 32 x 3 8" SHCS (S022). Install the water pump pulley (10316-A) and water pump pulley cover (342-A) using x 5 8" SHCS (S183). Photo 18. Remove the two top adjustment bolts on the 18. Tech Support

7 alternator and A/C sides. Tilt the A/C and alternator units inward and install the belt as shown. Kits with power steering will use a 80.5" belt, kits without power steering will use a 71.5" belt. Reinstalling the top bolts and their bushings. Photo 19. Slip the supplied March Adjustment Tool (40704) over the two (MM100) bushings at the Alternator an A/C sides. Use a wrench to turn the adjustment tool outward to tighten the serpentine belt to 65 ft. lbs. Use the holes in the adjustment tool to tighten both 8mm socket head cap screws when correct belt tension has been achieved. Remove the adjustment tool and keep for future use. NOTE: KIT IMPORTANT! Due to the good wrap of the Pulley drive system, use minimum Load on the belt. (65 ft lbs) Using excessive belt load may cause damage to the water pump bearings. Check and tighten all bracket bolts and alternator and A/C lower mounting bolts, turn engine over once by hand to check for any belt rubbing and proper belt alignment. Run engine three minutes and check belt tension again. Final Assembly If you are going to be installing your air conditioning hoses and charging the system at this time, remove the cover plate on top of the compressor body. Install the A/C adapter lines (P417), hoses and connect clutch wire and charge system. Important:If you are NOT installing hoses and charging the system at this time, leave cover plate on compressor. Do not connect the clutch wire or apply power to clutch wire without the hoses connected and the system charged Serious damage will occur to compressor.

All products returned for any reason must reference an authorization number (RGA). The RGA number is obtained by calling place of purchase during normal business hours. Any product returned without the RGA# written on the return package next to the return shipping label will be refused. All returns must ship via UPS and be properly packaged in the original carton. Return freight charges are the responsibility of the customer unless the product was shipped in error.
