1 Dear Parents/Guadrians and s, November, 2016 Welcome to the Drama Club! This year we have chosen to hold off on announcing the production until after auditions. Auditions will be held on the following days: Wednesday, November 16 from 3-5 Thursday, November 17 from 3-5 Friday, November 18 from 3-5 (YOU WILL BE DIRECTED TO SIGN UP DURING YOUR LUNCH PERIOD) An adult must be with you when you audition, but will not go into the audition with you. All students wishing to audition MUST fill out the attached Drama Club forms. To sign up for an audition please see Mrs. Hawk or Ms. Damore during your lunch periods on November 7 th and November 9 th. (Any student wishing to be a part of the chorus does not need to audition.) Audition requirements are as follows: 1) s auditioning for a singing role must be able to listen to a song, sing it back and prepare the monologue to recite from memory with emotion. The monologue is attached to this letter. THERE IS NO REHEARSED SONG FOR THIS ROUND OF AUDITIONS 2) s auditioning for a non-singing role must prepare the attached monologue, and recite it from memory with emotion. Rehearsals will be held after school on Wednesdays starting at the end of November, from there the rehearsals will increase.the tentative schedule is attached to this letter. Attendance is mandatory after roles are assigned for our production to be a success. Please be sure to block off the tentative dates listed on the attached schedule to avoid conficts. The scheduled dates of the final productions are Thursday, May 18 th and Friday, May 19 th at 7:00 pm in the Brooklake auditorium. We will be charging $2.00 for admission which will go toward future drama club performances. There are many different ways to participate in our show. Please read the attached paper and check off how you would like to participate. There is also a section for any parents willing to donate their time to enhance our production. 5 Monologue-Female Hello. So glad many of you could make it. It s an inspiration. I m excited, and I know you are. For those of you who don t know me, I d like to introduce myself. I m Gloria Russell, chairperson of James Madison High School Alumni Development. Volunteer, of course. Personally, I feel volunteers are wonderful people. This year, for the first time, we ve decided to establish and annual James Madison High School Alumni Award, to be given to that outstanding graduate who has brought distinction and honor to his or her high school. I feel excited because the alumna we are honoring today was my good friend when he went to school here. And that was only a few years ago. Think of it. As they say, time flies. Monologue- Male I can t imagine life without my varsity jacket. My life, anyway. See, I used to be nothing special. I even heard some kids say that about me one time. That Stanley Brown---He s nothing special. I don t have much academic smarts. I know that. I guess I don t have much ambition, either. Maybe that comes later. I do know my life turned around when I got my varsity jacket. People looked at me different. Y know I was one guy who achieved something. I was somebody. Out of the ordinary. Special. I can tell you the feeling was GR-R-R-E-A-T. It still is. I know some kids might definitely think its bizarro. But it s my life, isn t it?
