Duration: 4 Hours per person Royal Wilanow Palace & Park (private excursion) This tour takes you a few miles outside the centre of Warsaw to Wilanow. The 'Polish Versailles' is just one of the many names given to Wilanow, which is arguably the most striking palace in the country. It was built in the late 17th century to serve as the summer
residence of King Sobieski III, whose fame in the West lies in having rescued Vienna from the Turks in The baroque palace passed through the hands of a number of sovereigns and aristocrats, and was the property of the Branicki family from the 19th century through to 1945 when it was confiscated by the state. Much of the art, interiors and gardens were destroyed or plundered during the war, but Wilanow has since been returned to its former glory. The palace is full of ornate gilding, priceless works of art, Etruscan vases, sculptures and silverware. The landscaped gardens are dotted with statues, pillars and decorative flowerbeds, and also include a Chinese pavilion. Part of the park is currently subject to an archaeological dig after ceramics, thought to come from the 12th century village of Milanow, were unearthed per person Zelazowa Wola (private excursion) Today you will visit Zelazowa Wola, a village on the Utrata River. It is the birthplace of Poland's greatest composer and national hero Frederic Chopin. The house where he was born is now a Museum housed in a late nineteenth century manor. Duration: 4 Hours per person Jewish Heritage tour of Warsaw (private excursion) On today's Jewish Heritage tour you will visit the Warsaw Ghetto area, the monument of the Umschlagplatz, Nozyk Synagogue, the Jewish Historical Institute and the Genscher Cemetery per person Visit to Treblinka & Jewish Heritage tour of Warsaw (private excursion) Today you will visit Treblinka, one of the main extermination centers during WW II. It was located between the Polish towns of Siedlce and Malkinia, 62 M (100 KM) northeast of Warsaw, Poland. Treblinka I was opened in December 1941 as a medium forced-labor camp. A second, larger and ultra secret camp referred to as T. II (Treblinka II) in official dispatches, was located one mile from the first and opened in July of the year 1942 as an extermination camp for Jews marked for the Final Solution. Toward the middle of May 1943 the entire population of the Warsaw ghetto was rounded up and deported to Treblinka or to one of the other death camps around. By 17 January 1945, the date when Soviet troops
liberated Warsaw, it is estimated that between seven to nine hundred thousand Jewish men, women, and children were exterminated here. The facilities at Treblinka II were closed in October 1943; those at Treblinka I in July After Treblinka you will also visit the many Jewish sites in Warsaw per person Visit to Treblinka (private excursion) Today you will visit Treblinka, one of the main extermination centers during WW II. The facilities at Treblinka II were closed in October 1943; those at Treblinka I in July Duration: 5 Hours per person Visit to Majdanek (private excursion) Today you will visit Majdanek, a concentration and extermination camp on the south-east border of the town Lublin in Poland. Originally intended fto house prisoners of war it was opened on 21 July Estimates of the total number of people who died at Majdanek, whether through execution or simply by having the very basics of life denied, ranges widely from two hundred thousand to one and a half million. It may never be known exactly how many Soviet prisoners of war were executed at Majdanek. When Russian soldiers liberated Majdanek on 24 July 1944, only a few hundred prisoners of various nationalities were alive per person Visit to Treblinka, Jedwabne & Tykocin Today you will start your excursion with a visit to Treblinka, one of the main extermination centers during WW II. You will then visit Jedwabne. After being controlled by Russia for two years, Jedwabne, a small town in north-eastern Poland, was captured by Germany on June 22, About half the men of Jedwabne's Catholic community participated in torturing Jedwabne's 1,600 member Jewish community, corralling them into a barn, which was then set ablaze. Sixty years after the massacre, on July 10, 2001, about 3,000 people helped Poland's president, and
Jewish leaders and relatives of the murdered commemorate the deceased by unveiling a monument at the site of the slaughter. Finally you will be taken to Tykocin where on August 25, 1941, the Jews of the town were called to assemble in the market square. After a selection process about 1,400 people were transported to large pits that had been prepared near the city [in the Lupochowo forest] and were murdered. Some of the Jews succeeded in hiding, but the next day they were caught and executed by the Polish police. The synagogue in Tykocin is an early Baroque masonry synagogue which was built in 1642 and restored between 1974 and The synagogue is now used as a museum per person Tour to Lodz Today you will visit the city of Lodz. Located in central Poland, Lodz is the second largest urban centre in Poland with a population of nearly 1 million. Lodz is connected with the history of the Polish Jews - the town was inhabited by a large Jewish community until the Second World War, during which most of them were deported to the concentration camps in Auschwitz and Theresienstadt and killed by Nazis. Nowadays Lodz is an important cultural, scientific, educational and medical centre, which is highly valued for both its rich heritage of traditions and the latest achievements. It is also the seat of many banks and other commercial institutions. Its geographical location in the heart of the country is particularly favorable for development of trade and industry. LODZ is a cradle of Polish Cinematography - many famous Polish directors and cameramen got their education here per person Tour to Bialowieza Bialowieza National Park is located in the eastern part of Poland, in Podlaskie Voivodeship, at the border with Belorussia. The Park lies in the central part of Bialowieza Primeval Forest, which is the most natural forest complex in the lowland part of Europe. The Park history goes back to 1921 when the forest district "Preservation" (Rezerwat) was created. In 1977 the Park was recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve, and in 1979 designated as a World Heritage Site, the only natural site in Poland per person Tour to Gdansk Today you will visit the city of Gdansk. Conveniently situated at the mouth of River Wisla, on the main trade route, in the 14th and 15th centuries the town of Gdansk grew to be one of the biggest and richest Baltic ports. The city has not always been Polish, it changed hands between the Poles and Germans six times, and for three periods it maintained an independent status. The Second World War destroyed 90% of Gdansk town centre, and extensive restorations were undertaken immediately after the war. Worth seeing is a memorial to the shipyard workers killed in the 1970 riots, a symbol of the fight for freedom, and nearby in the Gdansk Shipyard area, the workers' protest movement Solidarity started. Among other historical monuments a special mention is due to the gigantic Gothic St. Mary's Church (Poland's biggest) and the Town Hall.
per person Tour to Czestochowa Today you will visit Czestochowa. Located 222 km southwest of Warsaw it is Poland's Roman Catholic spiritual center and a major pilgrimage site for Catholics worldwide, thanks to the presence of the venerated painting of Our Lady of Czestochowa, known in English as the Black Madonna. The name Czestochowa in English means "often hidden" because in ancient times, visitors approaching the city would have to travel up and down hills. On downward slopes, the city would disappear from sight and therefore was "often hidden" to them. The most important place to visit in Czestochowa is the Jasna Gora monastery. However, Czestochowa also has a few other attractions, such as a philharmonic, city museum, and art galleries per person Notes: Prices quoted are based on two passengers travelling. The duration of the tour is from hotel pick-up to hotel drop-off Rates do not apply during holidays:1jan, Easter, 1 Nov & Dec Transportation (if included) is based on standard transportation. Superior options are available for additional supplements. Lunch is not included on Half or Full day tours.
