1 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 1 MARY, THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD FATHER: As sons and daughters of the Lord, we place our ers before God our Father. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. PRIEST: Confident that God s generous blessings and care are extended toward us, we for our needs and for the needs of the entire world. 1) For all the members of the Church, may we grow in compassion and generosity toward those in need as we live out the message of God s love, we 2) For all people, may peace reign in our hearts as we recognize each other as children of the same God, we 3) For all who have been displaced by war or natural disasters, may neighbors near and far provide safe haven, we 4) For our faith community, may we always welcome strangers as holy sons and daughters of the Almighty, we 5) For all who have died, may they rest in eternal peace with all the angels and saints, we PRIEST: Heavenly Father, hear our ers and give us the grace to live according to your will, we through Christ, our Lord.

2 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 3 THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD PRIEST: With trust in God's goodness and love, let us present our petitions to him. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. 1) That the Church throughout the world may continue to share Christ's light and love with others by living according to his teachings, we 2) That all nations torn by strife and division will work for peaceful solutions, especially in the Holy Land, we 3) That those who are suffering displacement due to war, terrorism or natural disasters may be blessed and find the shelter that they need, we 4) That this faith community may search for new and ever-more effective ways to share God s love with others, we 5) That those who have died may come to enter unto the glorious splendor of God s heavenly kingdom, we PRIEST: Heavenly Father, hear our ers and help us to make our lives reflect your love. We ask all things through your son, Jesus Christ.

3 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 10 THE BAPTSIM OF THE LORD PRIEST: Let us with confidence to God our loving Father. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. 1) For Church leaders, that the Holy Spirit may continue to guide them as they share the good news with the world, we 2) For the leaders of nations, that they may use their authority and resources to uphold the dignity of all people and to work for peace, we 3) For those who lack adequate food and shelter, that they may be assisted in their need and be treated with dignity, we 4) For the sick of our parish and our community, that they may find comfort in our ers and in the loving care of compassionate people, we 5) For the faithful departed, that they may join the angels and saints in heaven, we PRIEST: Merciful and loving Father, please hear the ers we offer today. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

4 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 17 2 ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PRIEST: Let us to the Father, whose tender love always watches out for our wants and needs. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. 1) That members of the Church may cooperate with the grace and action of the Spirit, and use their unique gifts and talents to more fully build up the kingdom, we 2) That leaders throughout the world will make decisions for the betterment of all whom they serve, we 3) That persecuted Christians around the globe be granted grace and strength to persevere and endure in their faith, we 4) That members of this faith community work to relieve the cares and burdens of others in our midst, we 5) That the faithful departed might come to share eternal life in heaven with God, we PRIEST: Lord God, we offer you these petitions confident in your tender compassion for us and all your children, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

5 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 24 3 RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PRIEST: Gathered as many parts and formed into one body in Christ by the Spirit, we offer our ers to the Lord. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. 1) For the Church and for all Christians during this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, that we may continue to engage in dialogue and work together, we 2) For world and national leaders, that they will seek peaceful solutions to conflict, we 3) For those who are sick, that they may experience Jesus healing through the compassionate care of medical professionals, family and friends, we 4) For members of our parish community, that we may erfully consider sharing our gifts and talents by volunteering for a ministry, we 5) For those who have died, that they may enjoy eternal life with God, we PRIEST: O God, hear our ers today and give us the grace to further your mission as the body of Christ. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

6 INTERCESSION PRAYERS FOR SUNDAY, JANUARY 31 4 TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME PRIEST: With loving trust in the Lord God, we come before him with our petitions. CANTOR: (announce) Our response is Lord hear our er. 1) For the leaders of our Church, that they may guide us in walking in the way of Jesus, we 2) For world leaders, that they may work tirelessly for peace, we 3) For those who are suffering in mind and in body, that our Lord lovingly touch their hearts with a spirit of healing, we 4) For our friends and neighbors, that we may live in a loving and peaceful way with them, marked by a spirit of humility, we 5) For the faithful departed, that they may come to enjoy eternal life in heaven, we PRIEST: Heavenly Father, we know the tremendous love that you have for us and we know that you are present with us. We ask that you answer our ers according to your will, through Christ, our Lord.
