1 Datasheet Scout Enterprise and elux Scout Enterprise is the hardware independent management solution which offers users highly efficient enterprise functionalities such as scalability and high availability. It enables the management of an unlimited number of Thin Clients and PCs with elux or Windows Embedded operating systems. elux is the hardware independent operating system designed for Thin Clients. With its modular design and its easy license migration possibility, elux is the perfect operating system for server-based computing and VDI environments. Thanks to the unique tool ELIAS (elux Image Administration Service), administrators don t need any prior knowledge of Linux to create a customer specific image. The latest elux packages and new versions of Scout Enterprise are signed and quality tested and available for download on at any time. The Package Update Management Agent (PUMA) provides the opportunity to subscribe to elux packages and automatically integrate them into ELIAS. For experienced Linux users the additional elux Builder Kit is offered, with which individual elux packages can be created. The configuration of a Thin Client with features such as desktop security, IP address management and active asset management, as well as all plugged hardware devices like a monitor, mouse and keyboard. Definition of server connections or local applications. Online commands for entire organization units or individual devices e.g. switching devices on and off, restarting devices or sending messages can either be managed directly or easily be scheduled. Extensive Enterprise functionalities at a glance: High availability and scalability is guaranteed: Scout Enterprise can be operated on multiple servers and with an unlimited number of clients. Automatic identification of the Scout Server: When changing hardware or within a roll-out process, Thin Clients identify the Scout Server automatically. Costs and effort are minimized considerably. Multiple administrators can be assigned individual authorizations for groups in the Scout console and from the Active Directory. Subscription Key elux /WES/Scout Subscription Key for Scout Enterprise in combination with elux and Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WS7P) to prolong the software support for 12 months. FLUENDO Codec Package The FLUENDO Codec Package includes the licenses for using multimedia codecs in combination with elux RL and elux RP. When ordering the FLUENDO Codec Package, you will receive a license key which allows you using the codecs on your Thin Client. The FLUENDO Codec Package can be downloaded from Fujitsu support pages or Following codecs are covered: MP3, WMA stereo, AAC stereo, WMV, H264 and MPEG4 part2. License for PowerTerm InterConnect from Ericom S26361-F2727-L703 S26361-F2727-L708 S26361-F2600-L114 License for PowerTerm InterConnect from Ericom, only for elux RL and elux RP operating systems. PowerTerm InterConnect is an emulation suite that allows you to connect to IBM mainframes, IBM AS/400, Unix, VAX/Alpha OpenVMS, Tandem (NSK), HP-3000 and Data General. To use this software, you must have the PowerTerm InterConnect (powerterm) package installed. The software includes a 30-minute trial period. Subscription and license overview Definition The Subscription is an integral part of the flexible license management Unicon Software is offering. The Subscription is a software service which guarantees that clients equipped with elux and Scout Enterprise receive the latest software enhancements and functions for an efficient use. The subscription provides: Software package supply via Internet, ( including free of charge download and installation. Use of latest hot fixes and beta versions of elux. Use of the latest versions of Scout Enterprise and ELIAS. Use of the latest released versions of applications. Free migration from elux NG V2 to elux RL V2 Free migration from elux RL V2 to elux RP Free migration from elux RL V3 to elux RP Page 3 of 5

4 Life span and validity of Subscription The subscription life-span runs from the first-time use of the elux license on a thin client. An elux full license includes a 12 month subscription. After the period of 12 months the subscription expires no matter how frequently the thin client has been used and updated. Once the subscription has expired, elux equipped thin clients can still be used with their current image, and can be updated with software packages that have been created before the subscription expiry date. However, the thin clients cannot longer participate in any of the above mentioned benefits, such as software updates with packages the creation date of which lie after the subscription expiry date. Of course, the subscription can be renewed any time, so that an elux thin client can again be updated by purchasing a subscription license. Periods of use without subscription are backdated automatically. Additional subscription can be provided for a client before the expiration of the current subscription. In this case, however, the life-span of the subscription of an elux full license cannot exceed 12 months. An additional subscription license provides 12 months of software service. The Scout Enterprise Server takes charge of the management of the subscription information. There are three different options available: Device mode (default) Scout Enterprise manages and displays the elux subscription for each thin client individually, i.e. a subscription has to be assigned to each device. Enterprise mode (to be activated once, no reset to the device mode!) The individual subscriptions are consolidated to a subscription pool on the Scout Enterprise Server. From this pool the subscription is evenly distributed to all thin clients. The pool can be restocked by purchasing additional subscriptions. Enterprise mode is recommended for 10 clients and more. Organizational unit (OU) mode (to be activated once, no reset to the device mode!) The individual subscriptions are consolidated to a subscription pool which can be a signed to a single OU on the Scout Enterprise Server. From this pool the subscription is evenly distributed to all thin clients within the OU. The pool can be restocked by purchasing additional subscriptions. OU mode is recommended for multiple branch offices which shall handle subscriptions independently form other OUs. For more information regarding subscriptions please refer to Page 4 of 5
