1 Celebrate creation: a liturgy for Earth Hour Blessed be the Lord God, Author of all Creation. All: Glory to God forever and ever. Let us thank the Lord with grateful hearts: for this world of wonder and delight for the good things that sustain our life for gift of human life As we rejoice in your gift of this good earth, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen. Let us pray. Creator God, who has filled the world with beauty. Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness. In this hour when we consciously limit our dependence on the burning of fossil fuel, give us a heart for responsible stewardship of the riches of your creation, so that in our lives and actions your holy name is honoured. Amen. In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great. 26 There go the ships, and Leviathan that you formed to sport in it.

3 27 These all look to you to give them their food in due season; 28 when you give to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. 29 When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. 30 When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the ground. 31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works 32 who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke. 33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. 35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bible Reading: The Hymn to the Word (John 1: 1-5, 10-14, & 16) In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God; he was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of all men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. He was in the world, and the world was made through him yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed on his name, he has given power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father. And from his fullness have we all received grace upon grace.
