3 Chalky Finish Paint: I like using the DecoArt Chalky Finish paints for my projects. I love the ultra flat look and feel. In most cases the paint can be applied straight to unfinished wood. When distressing, wipe over the paint with a warm damp cloth as soon as the paint is dry to the touch. The longer the paint dries, the harder you have to scrub. Float / Shade: I always float my color with the angular shaders. Mop to soften with a Mop. I shade around my design elements before basecoating; I like the softer look I get when I do this. Unless otherwise indicated, I shade around the entire shape and deepen in corners and under design elements for more depth. Line: Unless otherwise stated, all lining is done with the #10/0 Liner and the paint watered down to an ink-like consistency. Basecoat: Use the brush that best fits the size of the area to be painted. Stenciling: The brush must be dry. When stenciling, I load my paint from a dry surface, not a wet palette as the moisture will get into the brush and make the paint go on smudgy. To start, load the brush by tipping it into the paint. Pounce the loaded brush onto palette paper to load the brush, and then pounce any excess paint off on a paper towel. Tip: When stenciling, dry rub the brush over the stencil for a soft look. Painting Instructions: Box: Basecoat entire box with DecoArt Chalky Finish - Heritage. Let Dry. Basecoat over the Heritage with DecoArt All- Purpose Sealer. (I do this so that the paint will not rub off when the second coat is distressed.) Basecoat the top of the box top only with DecoArt Chalky Finish Timeless. Let dry to the touch. Take a damp cloth and wipe back over the paint. The harder you scrub, the more of the paint comes off. Rinse the cloth regularly with warm water. Concentrate on the edges for a nice distressed look. Use the polka dot stencil and DecoArt Chalky Finish Timeless to stencil the polka dots. Tape off 1 stripes on the sides of the box bottom using 1 painter s tape. 2

4 3 Basecoat the exposed stripes with DecoArt Chalky Finish Timeless. Remove tape carefully. Let dry. Take a damp cloth and wipe back over the newly painted stripes to expose some of the base color for a distressed look. Apply the piece of lace along the left side of the box top with DecoArt Decou-page. Leave approx. ½ to ¾ between the edge of the lace and the edge of the box. Once the lace is in place, apply a thick coat of Decou-page over the lace and let dry. Trim excess from the ends. Apply the Post Stencil, using the photo as a guide, with DecoArt Chalky Finish Relic. I stenciled the Post mark with DecoArt Chalky Finish Heritage. Trace on the basic pattern lines to use as a guide for the papers. Angel: Note: Refer to the color photo for shading and detail placement. Using 3 coordinating scrapbook papers trace the hat on one, the wings on another and the dress on the last. Cut out the pieces. Apply the papers to the angel shape using DecoArt Decou-page. Smooth the papers down by using your fingertips and burnishing from the center towards the outside. Let dry. Basecoat the angel face with Mocha. Shade with Raw Sienna. Deepen shading under the hat with Burnt Sienna. Drybrush then float the cheeks with Terra Coral. Line the nose with Traditional Burnt Umber. Dot the eyes with Lamp Black. Line the hair with Traditional Burnt Umber tipped in Lamp lack. Dot or line in the heart shaped mouth with Terra Corral. Shade around the hat, wings and dress with Raw Sienna. Deepen the shading with Traditional Burnt Umber. Base the buttons with Burnt Sienna. Wash with Traditional Burnt Umber. Glue the buttons in place. Add the hatband using either a piece of lace or coordinating scrapbook paper using the Decoupage. Glue on a fun flower.

5 Glue on flat back crystals at neckline. Finishing: Outline as desired with Lamp Black. Varnish with DecoArt Americana Decor Ultra Matte Varnish Pattern at 100% 1 x 1 To ensure your pattern is at 100%, this box should measure 1 x 1 when printed. 4
