THE ELIGIBILITY LIST ESTABLISHED MAY BE UTILIZED TO FILL THE CURRENT AND/OR UPCOMING VACANCIES WITHIN THIS CLASSIFICATION FOR UP TO SIX MONTHS. Utilities W ater Superintendents plan, coordinate, supervise an d review th e activities involved in either the construction, operation or m aintenance and repair of w ater system facilities; to provide technicalstaff assistance; and to do related work as required. In addition, the current vacancy w illserve as a criticallead role to m anage and direct th e w ater utility com puter system an d su pervisory controland data acquisiiton (S C A D A ) system ; to plan, assign, supervise and particpate in the operatio n an d m aintenance ofth e w ater system. Positions designated as n-classified are exem pt from the classified service. The Incum bent shall be appointed at-w ill and serve at the pleasure ofthe City M anager. WORK PERFORMED: Typicald u ties m ay include, but are not lim ited to, th e fo llow ing: Assist in the developm ent and im plem entation ofg o als, objectives, policies, and priorities. Organize, schedule, assign, supervise an d co o rd inate directly and through subordinate superviso rs th e co n stru ction, m aintenance and repair, and operatio n o f th e dom estic water and irrigation system s. Participate in conferences w ith en g ineers, contractors, and other utilities, and City staff regarding projects an d p ro ject problem s.

Inspect field projects in process and upon com pletion; provide technicaladvice and assistance on difficult w ork problem s; evalu ate w ork m eth od s and procedures used in field operations, recom m ending im provem ents. Supervise th e main ten an ce o f time, materialand equipm ent use records. Requisition supplies an d m aterials. Recommend th e purchase ofeq u ipm ent and assist in the developm ent o f sp ecifications. Receive, investigate and dispose of com plaints. C h eck w ater system facilities for needed m aintenance and repair. Assist in budget preparatio n an d ad m inistration. Prepare cost estim ates for w ater system construction operatio n an d m aintenance activities. Select, supervise, train and evaluate subordinates. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Education: E q u ivalent to the co m p letio n o f th e tw elfth grade. Experience: T h ree years supervisory experience in the construction and/or m aintenance and repair of w ater d istribution system s or the operation and m aintenance o f w ater p u m p ing, treatm ent and storage facilities and equipm ent. Necessary Special Requirement Possessio n o f, o r ab ility to ob tain, an appropriate, valid class C C alifo rn ia Motor Vehicle Operator s License. May require possessio n o f or th e ability to obtain an appropriate valid Califo rn ia Com m ercialm otor Vehicle O perator s License based upon operationaln eed an d th e d u ties assigned. Possessio n o f a valid W ater Treatm ent Facility O p erator s Certificate (T1) issued by the California State W ater R esources C ontrolb o ard. Possessio n o f a valid W ater Distribution Certificate (D 3) issued by the C alifornia State Water R esources ControlBoard. Highly Desired Qualifications: Equivalent to an A ssociate ofs cience degree w ith major course w ork in com puter science, electricity, or electronics. Three years ofexperience w ith programming, operating, and m aintaining com puter system s, supervisory controlan d data acquisition (S C A D A ), and communication system s.
