1 Suggested Prayers For Students: Their Faith - That every student will come to know Christ, early and deeply and discover his/her value in Christ, his/her particular function in the body of Christ and, most of all, develop a passionate love for the Lord and others o Thus fulfilling the words of Jesus: A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another (John 13:34) Their Worth o That our students know they are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works (Eph. 2:10) The students would be an open book to God s word and what the teachers teach to them Students will be respectful, kind, courteous for teachers, staff and peers A desire to learn and be disciplined in preparation (i.e. on time, homework completed, etc) Godly wisdom The spiritual guidance and direction of each students Purity That each child will find special friendships and feel connected and loved They will have godly friends who will support, encourage and uphold them to Christian faith. Hedge of protection from: o Peer pressure o Bullying, fighting, unrest o Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Sex, pornography o Media (esp from Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Sex, Peer Pressure, pornography) o Insecurity o Gossip & misunderstandings o Injuries o Sickness o Depression/emotional issues For Class: For the personality of the class Unity of students, cohesive classroom Friendships amongst students (no cliques) Connection of teacher and students Safety in the classroom o A hedge of protection from accidents, sickness, evil people or spirits

2 For Teachers Confidence in teaching, knowledge and wisdom Godly wisdom to share Christ, age appropriately and tailored to each student s personality Passion to light the path of their class o Show me your ways, O Lord, Teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God, my Savior Psalm 25:4-5 God will give each teacher a heart of prayer for their class/students The teacher will be able to hear the direction of the Lord for their class and their lesson plans A hedge of protection, health and faith in teacher s marriages & families Relief from excessive stress and patience o Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 For Families Families will have an impact in their neighborhood, being a light unto the world o "You are the light of the world Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. For Administration: Unity for administration and staff members Godly wisdom and humility among administration, staff, servant hearts Leadership skills and knowledge A hedge of protection, health and faith in staff s marriages & families Relief from excessive stress o So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. 3 Chapel/Biblical Teachings: Practical applications of God s word for daily life That the biblical education starts in the mind, transforms the heart & results in the outworking of hands Educate and train each student in the unique way which God purposes for him or her. o Proverbs 22:6 inspires us to Train up a child in the way he should go o He fashions their hearts individually, He considers all their works (Psalm 33:15) That the word falls on fertile soil of their hearts o Matthew 13:23 But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. o Isaiah 55: As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth & making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire & achieve the purpose for which I sent it. School: OCS, the school that sits on the hill that the school on the hill would be the light in the lives of children and the neighborhood. o Matthew 5:13-15 Salt and Light 13 "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. 14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. OCS innovatively teaches, facilitates and encourages students to learn Arts and Music: Safety, fun, passion, excellence, teachable moments Athletics: Safety, fun, excellence, passion, teachable moments, Other activities: PTF, Parent Prayer Group, International exchange program, mission trips, Springhill camp, school dances, Fall Family Festival, Love & Logic Parents class, LifeBuilders, Cabin Fever Variety Show, etc Community: OCS would be a reflection of Jesus Christ in everything we do DetroitSERVATHON That our faces will show excitement, gratitude, love, appreciation, passion, awestruck wonder, and a different life on the horizon. 4 Prayer for Our School (Walk around the grounds) School year: Father, we thank you for the opportunity to begin the school year, and we ask that you bless the faculty, the students, and student families. We pray that you will guide us in all ways, and that we will seek your will in everything that we do. School: As we walk around the grounds of this school, Lord, may you bless the land and put a hedge of protection around it. Bless this school and all who pass through its halls of learning. May its teachers be filled with love and skilled in imparting true knowledge. May its students be open-minded and imbibe the teachings with joy and eagerness. May this school always be the home of truth and wisdom, faith and good will toward all, helping to build up our community and your kingdom of justice, love, and peace. We pray that OCS would be a reflection of Jesus Christ in everything we do. Children: Dear Lord Jesus, bless and protect the millions of children and young people who are starting a new school year. Thank You for the gift of our children. They are so precious in Your sight, for You were once a child. You know Lord the many temptations and peer pressures that come to our young people everyday. Shield them O Lord and guide them. Help them find godly friends who will support, encourage and uphold them to Christian faith. Teachers: Bless us teachers with true wisdom and may we teach not only academic instructions, but proper morals and love of God and higher authority. As we open our mouths to relay knowledge and wisdom, may our words be filled with inspiration and encouragement, that our students will be strengthened to use their knowledge in developing their talents and abilities to make a difference for the betterment of this world. Conclusion: Show us parents, teachers and students a special measure of Your grace, and lead us in the right paths. Help us not to lean in our own understanding, but in all our ways, may we acknowledge You. Give us all true wisdom which finds its joy in You. Dear Lord Jesus who has been our Teacher, help us to remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. May there be more prayerful parents, teachers and students who will stand up for You. May we cling to the truth, and may our lights so shine brightly that the world of learning may be reminded that knowledge is fleeting, but godly wisdom is eternal. Thank You O Lord of wisdom, our Sovereign and Mighty God, who shows us the Way, The Truth, and The Life through Jesus Christ, Our Savior. Continue to teach us our ways, bless our growth in grace, and give us deeper understanding of Your good and
