2 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION This full-day symposium will provide the clinician with an update on diagnostic processes, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative management strategies in five major areas of adult neurology practice: headache, movement disorders, epilepsy, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Lectures will be complemented by case presentations and discussion. Patient simulators (actors) will interact with faculty to provide an enhanced learning experience. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES The Educational Objectives for this CME activity are supported by a comprehensive assessment of needs and identification of practice gaps. Create appropriate management strategies for patients with various types of epilepsy, including women of child-bearing age. Generate a differential diagnosis for the patient with a movement disorder given the clinical presentation and history, and identify appropriate management options. Diagnose migraine and sub-types, identify potential etiologies, and create an effective management strategy. Utilize the updated criteria for diagnosing and categorizing multiple sclerosis and create an effective comprehensive and holistic management plan. Identify appropriate treatment approaches, including prophylactic, for acute ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA), and recognize cases that are appropriate for referral to comprehensive stroke centers offering acute endovascular interventions. This symposium is designed for the practicing neurologist; other specialists in related fields (rehabilitation medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry); residents and fellows; and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with neurologic disorders (nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical/ occupational therapists).
