1 The following contains your STEPS TO SUCCESS for this course Written by Bobbi Colson with modifications by Patty Roy 1) Purchase Your Books/Supplies When you go to SCF s bookstore you will be purchasing an access card/code for the 2 books being used in this course.. I know this is very different from what you are used to (have a hardcopy of the book vs. reading your book online). But think of your computer as a type of a Kindle. The online books are MUCH LESS expensive, so you will save money. These are the books that you will be using online: 2) a) Textbook name is : Technology In Action, Complete Version, 7 th Edition: Evans, Martin / Poatsy; ISBN b) Textbook name is: GO! With Microsoft Office 2007 Introductory, 2 nd Edition, Gaskin, Ferrett, Vargas and Marks; ISBN Important note to students: When you log into the Angel course, you will see a START HERE button. You must click on the start here button and login to the content with the Pearson Login name & Password (First time users must redeem their access code found on the card that you purchased at the bookstore. When you have either redeemed your access card OR purchased access you will have created your login & password. Once logged in - during that session, you will not have to login again. You can click and use all of the assets in the course. ***If you don't click start here and login then you will be prompted to log in every time you try to click on something that requires the login information. This will make it seem like they have to login to everything individually or you will see Page Cannont be Displayed on your screen. 2 Registering in MyItLab There are two ways to purchase MyItLab. Student access code that can be purchased at the bookstore. It comes with an access code that looks something like this: DSCDGG-AUXIL-MYNAH-GLUED-CHAIR-NOISE (don t use this one as it is not valid! You have to use yours codes work only once. Purchase access from my Angel course at The Start Here Button for $75.00 using a credit card. Click on The Start Here Button- Click on Register as a First Time User. This is where you will also go every time you login at The Start Here Button. Read the License Agreement and Privacy Policy as shown in Figure 2 Figure 1 Scroll to the bottom of the window and click on I Accept. See the arrow in Figure 2.

3 Figure 2 Notice that you are now in Part 1 (Access Information) of the three steps to register. You do not have a Pearson Education Account yet, so look at the middle of the window for the Access Code section. Locate your Student Access Code that you purchased at the bookstore and enter that code in the boxes as shown in Figure 3. Enter your Student Access Code here. It is not case sensitive. Figure 3

4 Under the School Location part, enter in the School Zip and choose United States for the School Country. See Figure 4. Enter the Zip code of and choose United States as the School Country. Figure 4 Click the Next button. You should now be in the Account Information part. (See Figure 5.) Complete the window as instructed. Remember your Login Name and Password for future use. Follow these guidelines for creating your password. Select a Security Question and provide your answer. Suggest unchecking this box. Figure 5

5 Click the Next button. You should now be in the Confirmation & Summary part. See Figure 6. In the middle of the window, under You Now Have Access To, click the Log in Now button. See Figure 6. You will see your Login Name and Address here. Read the above paragraph. Click here. Figure 6 Enter your ID and password in the areas shown in Figure 7 and click the Login button. Figure 7

6 Your screen should look similar to Figure 8. You may not see the Welcome window, or you may notice the Welcome window minimized on the Task Bar. In addition, you probably will not see any courses on the left side, as you have not enrolled in any yet! The one you see here is just a sample, not a real course. In order to see the content of your course, you will need to enroll in a course. Locate the Enroll in a Course button as shown in Figure 10 and click on it. Click on the Enroll in a Course button. 7 See Figure 11. Under Section 1 Course ID, enter your Course ID: CRSABCC This is the course ID for my CGS1000 Class. Then, under Section 2, click the Confirm button to accept the License and Privacy Policy. Finally, under Section 3, click on the Enter Course now button to see your course. Enter your Course ID here. Click here to confirm that you have read the license Agreement and Privacy Click here to see the link to your actual course. Figure 11 In the upper right corner of the window, click the Logout button to exit MyItLab. Close the MyItLab Web site.

8 Downloading the MyItLab Installation Wizard and Home Diagnostic Tool Kit In order to use MyItLab for the course; you need to download the necessary plug-ins to your home computer. Please navigate to when you are this website, you will click on the Updated MyItLab Installation Wizard link as shown below. This link will guide you through a series of plug-in installations. If you experience any difficulties, please call the MyItLab Student Technical Support phone number at (800) to get assistance with your technical needs. Click on the Updated myitlab Installation Wizard link. 4. Verify that You Have Office 2007 Software Available to Use 5. Course Syllabus and Schedule Please download the course syllabus and schedule located in the course orientation/information folder. You should print these out for future reference throughout the semester.

9 Logging into Angel 1) Go to your online Angel account and Log on to Angel at: Use your MCC Username (Just the username, not the as your Angel Username and your MCC PIN as the Password. Your PIN should only have 6 digits in it. 2) Click on [Lessons] tab (see top of Angel window) to use the Angel 3) You are now in your Lesson Screen; please click the Start Here button to register your Pearson Learning Solutions Student Access Code. You can find your access code in the Student Access Kit that came with your text. If you do not have a Student Access Kit, you may be able to purchase access with a major credit card by using the get access option. 4) Click on the Start Here button, you will be taken to the screen that you use EVERY TIME you want access to any of your ebooks, and study materials.

10 5) Click the Start HERE button again, you might get prompted to re-log into your Pearson account, or the following screen appear: I know is sounds like we are going in a circle, but its ok. Closing this screen will take you back to your ANGEL account. 6) Click back onto your LESSONS tab and you are ready to start

11 Accessing the materials in your Technology in Action ebook 1) In your LESSONS folder, click on Technology in Action and the following screen will appear: 2) To read the chapter materials, click on ebook, and the following screen will appear. 3) To see individual chapter activities, click on any specific chapter. As you can see there are a lot of activities that are included in ANGEL for each chapter in the book. **NOT ALL WILL BE REQUIRED** Refer to your syllabus to see which specific activities you need to complete for the course. 4) Use these same directions to access the ebook for GO!
