THE ART OF STORYTELLING
THE ART OF STORYTELLING
INTRODUCTION Kerry Darlington is one of the most sought after and influential artists at work in the UK and a major figure on the international art scene. Her boundless creative gift, technical brilliance, mastery of colour and above all, her infinite imagination, have taken her far beyond the everyday and turned her into a fine art sensation. The haunting beauty of Kerry s work grows from an intriguing combination of pattern, nature, energy and nostalgia. Her stunning three dimensional mixed media pieces are unmistakable in style and completely individual, revolving around the theme of myths and legends, poetry and stories. Her work is in huge demand, and in 2012 and again in 2014 she was named as the UK s bestselling published artist for her extraordinary unique editions.
NEW FOR AUTUMN 2016 We are proud to present a quartet of unique editions direct from the artist s studio. From fairies and snow queens to star crossed lovers and mythical trees, each piece represents a new chapter in one of the magical stories that are so closely woven into Kerry s inspirational imagery.
Romeo and Juliet 41 x 28, Unique Edition of 150, Framed: 1,395
Kerry seeks out remote corners of the landscape with a mesmerising sense of narrative, where time seems to hang suspended, waiting for the artist to come and fiill in the spaces between the seen and the unseen and complete their story.
Snow Queen 30 x 30 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 1,295
Flying Home 36 x 24, Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 1,100
The Call of the Trees 35 x 35 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 1,100
EXISTING COLLECTION In addition to our new releases we are delighted to offer a range of beautiful unique editions from Kerry s existing collection. Where Kerry s inspirational imagination comes into play throughout the collection - I paint all that I can t see and a little of what I can.
Happy Valley Happy Valley 1km 35 x 15 Unique Edition of 95, Framed: 895
The Whispering Tree 35 x 15 Unique Edition of 150, Framed: 895
Tree of life Oriental Gold 37 x 27, Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 1,125
Peacock Splendour 37 x 18 Unique Edition of 195, Framed: 995
When Kerry first decided to make limited editions of her work she wanted them, like her art, to be different from everything else... She came up with the idea of painting a composition but stopping before she was finished. This piece would then be printed, creating a series of unfinished artworks. Kerry would then treat each of these as an original painting and finish it, slightly differently every time, rendering every individual artwork a unique edition.
Phoenix Feathers 18 x 37 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 995
Tree of Life - Platinum 37 x 27 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 995

Tinkerbell 14 x 14 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 675
Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens 27 x 37 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 1,125
Once I began to draw, stories and paintings were always intertwined, inseparable. I have always been a dreamer and not very good with words, so art is my way of translating the cosmic knowledge that is bound to my imagination. Ideas often come to me whilst I listen to a story, or a poem, or music. Or silence within a meditation. I learn from my paintings. As I paint them, they teach me.
Little Mermaid 13 x 19 Unique Edition of 195, Framed: 850

Rainbow Tree 20 x 20 Unique Edition of 295, Framed: 675

BIOGRAPHY Born in 1974 in North Wales, Kerry began to develop a passion for art through her love of old picture books. As a child she was captivated by the illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac and Aubrey Beardsley in her books of fairy tales, and later on she grew to love the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau. These formative years still have a profound effect on her work. They mark the beginning of her fascination with the wider world of decorative art, and inspired her to undertake a degree in illustration in In the years that followed, Kerry began to build a reputation for her original, decorative designs using 3D elements and resin which became hugely popular, focusing primarily on trees and nature. Inspiration for these was taken from the Art Nouveau period, particulary Klimt s The Tree of Life. Her illustrations for Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz were so successful that in 2013 Kerry was given special permission to illustrate her childhood favourite - The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton. She then released a private collection of figurative works which cemented her reputation as a unique talent. Kerry works in her studio at home in North Wales, combining all of these influences and creating work which is innovative, individual and inspirational.
