2 Before using his guide Before using his guide, le us ake some ime and ge o know a lile bi abou he TVIP Remoe Engine Sarer (RES). The mos imporan hing o know is ha i is an Add-on o he Vehicle and ha i relies on a seamless inegraion wih he Vehicle in order o work. Below is a simple overview of he RES componens (in yellow) and he various vehicle sysems ha i inegraes wih. Knowing his, i is always a good idea o sar Troubleshooing by connecing he Techsream o he Vehicle and making sure ha everyhing on he Vehicle side is working properly (see Pg. 18). If you come across any error codes you will need o fix hose firs. Please conac he TAS Line ( ) for assisance wih roubleshooing vehicle side issues. 3 Before using his guide Ok, so now ha you ve checked/solved any Vehicle side problems, i is ime o deermine wha opions you have on your Vehicle. This is very imporan, as you may have noed on he previous page, he RES inegraes ino he Vehicle differenly depending on wheher you have a Vehicle wih Smar Key, TDS, and/or Immobilizer. Smar Key Vehicles are easy o idenify by locaing he push sar buon on he dash, however TDS and Immobilizer are ofen imes harder o idenify. 5 9 Canno Program he Vehicle. So, you are having problems Regisering he RES Sysem. This is a very common issue and can be linked o a missing or fauly signal, bu mos imes i is relaed o a missed sep in he programming procedure. Below are a few common hings we know o help people program he Vehicle. Look over hese and hen sar he Troubleshooing process below. 1. CONFIRM ha you are using he correc Regisraion Procedure for your Vehicle. Refer o Pg. 3 of his Troubleshooing Guide and he Vehicle s Insallaion Insrucions o verify his SLOW DOWN his is he bes hing you can do. The procedure is difficul and long bu here is pleny of ime o do everyhing. When urning he key, insering he key or pressing he remoe; make your acions rhyhmic like a clock, Slow and Deliberae. 3. READ he insrucions supplied in he Vehicle s V4 Insallaion Insrucions compleely before aemping Regisraion. 4. USE he Regisraion Audio Assisance File or ASK someone else o read he seps o you while you perform he procedure. This will help you remember wha needs o be done nex wihou having o look back a he Insrucions. 5. PROBLEMS if you ve failed o Regiser he Vehicle several imes RESET he Vehicle. Sar by disconnecing he RES Diagnosic Connecors. Then disconnec he Vehicle Baery. Nex, urn he Vehicle s Igniion Swich o ON and hen back o OFF. Now TAKE A BREAK. le you and he Vehicle de-sress for abou 10 minues. This will allow he RES ECU o compleely RESET and give you a fresh sar o ry Regisraion. 1) Rery Programming using Audio Assisan. w/immobilizer Audio Assisance Press o play/repea wo/immobilizer Audio Assisance Press o play/repea Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. (Success) (Failure) 2) Take noe of where he Regisraion failed. 1) Hazard lighs won flash afer sep 1: cycled he igniion ON OFF 5 imes. 2) Hazard lighs won flash or flashes Twice afer sep 2: run he engine for 10 sec. and hen urn i off. 3) Immobilizer / Saus Monior LED lighing sequence does no follow he proper sequence of urning on for 1 second, off for 1 second, and hen back on unil he key is removed from he igniion. 4) Hazard lighs flash hree imes afer closing he hood. 5) Hazard lighs don flash afer closing he hood. 6 Hood Swich Issue. Usual Sympoms: Hazard Lighs don Flash afer closing he hood in he las sep. 1) Check he Connecions associaed wih he Hood Swich. a) b) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he Hood Swich Connecions. Make sure ha any splicing connecions, Pin insers, or connecors associaed wih his signal are correc and he signal is geing o he RES ECU. Correc any issues wih he signals and aemp o program he Vehicle. (Bad Connecion) (Good Connecions) 1. In siuaions where he Connecions are correc bu he signal is no reaching he ECU you will need o swap he harness prior o aemping programming. 2) Aemp o Re-Program he Vehicle. a) Refer o Pg. 5 for help wih his. Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. (Success) (Failure) 3) 4) Replace he Hood Swich. a) Refer o he Vehicle s V4 Insallaion Insrucions. Check TIS for he laes Issue # Move on o he nex secion, Immobilizer Signal Issue and coninue Troubleshooing from here. Page 6 of 25

7 Immobilizer Signal Issue. Usual Sympoms: Immobilizer / Saus Monior LED lighing sequence does no follow he proper sequence of urning on for 1 second, off for 1 second, and hen back on unil he key is removed from he igniion Hazard lighs flash hree imes afer closing he hood. Vehicle will Crank bu no urn over when Remoe Sared. 1) Aemp o Program he Vehicle using he audio assisan for rhyhm and iming since he immobilizer seing is ime sensiive. a) Verify ha he Vehicle has Immobilizer (see Pg. 3). Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. (Success) (Failure) 2) Check Connecions associaed wih he Immobilizer Signal. a) b) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he Immobilizer Connecors. Make sure ha any splicing connecions, Pin insers, or connecors associaed wih his signal is correc and he signal is geing o he RES ECU. Correc any issues wih he signals and aemp o program he Vehicle. 1. In siuaions where he Connecions are correc bu he signal is no reaching he ECU, you will need o swap he harness prior o aemping programming. 3) Use he Techsream o verify he saus of he Vehicle Side Immobilizer signal. RES is dependan on many Vehicle Side signals. If here is an error on he Vehicle side his will need o be fixed before aemping RES Programing. 1. Consul TIS or TAS [ (800) ] for assisance on his maer. 4) ERROR ERRORS Conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. Page 7 of 25

8 Missing or Fauly Check Engine Signal. Usual Sympoms: TVIP Faul Code 4. Engine dies afer 5-10 seconds. During Regisraion, he Vehicle Hazard Lighs won' flash or flashes Twice afer running he engine for 10 seconds. The RES Sysem will no operae if he Check Engine Ligh says on. Conac TAS if you need help repairing/reseing he Vehicle in order o ge he Check Engine Ligh o urn off. 1) 2) Check Vehicle s Check Engine Ligh. a) b) c) Ener he Vehicle. Inser he Key ino he Igniion and urn i o ACC. LOOK for he Check Engine Ligh o urn off afer 5 seconds. Check all connecors, pin insers, or splicing connecors associaed wih he MPX and Check Engine Signal. a) b) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he MPX and CHK Signal. Make sure ha any splicing connecions, Pin insers, or connecors associaed wih hese signals are correc and he signals are geing o he RES ECU. Check Engine Signal is reaching RES ECU Correcly. 1. Reprogram he Sysem and Tes RES. Make sure ha he engine runs for a leas 10 seconds. Make sure he IG ON OFF 5 imes sequence is done wihin 20 seconds. 3) Replace he RES Harness wih a new or known good harness. a) (Signal a ECU) Reprogram he Sysem and Tes RES. (No signal a ECU) 2. If his sep does no work Conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. (RES doesn work) Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. (RES Works) Possible Bad TVIP Harness. 1. Tes sysem using New or Known Good Harness. 4) Conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. Page 8 of 25

9 Basic Connecions. Usual Sympoms: Hazard lighs won flash afer sep 1: cycled he igniion ON OFF 5 imes. 1) Check ha he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecor and Baery are conneced. a) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecors. Connec hem and aemp o program he Vehicle again. 2) Check Connecions associaed wih he +B, GND, MPX, and IG signals. a) b) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he +B, GND, MPX, CANH, CANL, and IG signals. Make sure ha any splicing connecions, Pin insers, or connecors associaed wih hese signals are correc and he signal is geing o he RES ECU. Correc any issues wih he signals and aemp o program he Vehicle. Make sure he IG ON OFF 5 imes sequence is done wihin 20 seconds. 1. In siuaions where he Connecions are correc bu he signal is no reaching he ECU, you will need o swap he harness prior o aemping programming. 3) Conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 10 Vehicle will no Remoe Sar. So, programming was successful bu he Vehicle won Remoe Sar. Le s sar by seeing wha does happen when you ry o Remoe Sar he Vehicle. Using he Remoe, sar he Vehicle by pressing he Lock buon (Lock-Lock-Hold). Noe wha happens. 1) The Engine Cranks bu won sar. 2) The Hazard Lighs don flash afer Signalling RES o Sar Page 10 of 25

11 The Engine Cranks bu won sar. 1) Use he informaion colleced abou he Vehicle on Page 3 of his Troubleshooing Guide o deermine if he Vehicle has an Immobilizer Sysem START Re-ry programming using he Non-Immobilizer Insallaion Insrucions. 1. If RES sill does no funcion conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 2) Reprogram he Vehicle using he Immobilizer Programming Insrucions and es he sysem Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. Correc any issues wih he signals and aemp o program he Vehicle. 3) Check Connecions associaed wih he Immobilizer Signal. a) b) Use he Vehicle Wiring Overview (Pg. 20) o locae he Immobilizer Connecions. Make sure ha any splicing connecions, Pin insers, or connecors associaed wih his signal are correc and he signal is geing o he RES ECU. 1. In siuaions where he Connecions are correc bu he signal is no reaching he ECU you will need o swap he harness prior o aemping programming. 4) Use he Techsream o verify he saus of he Vehicle Side Immobilizer signal. RES is dependan on many Vehicle Side signals. If here is an error on he Vehicle side his will need o be fixed before aemping RES Programming. ERROR CODE ERROR 1. Consul TIS or TAS [ (800) ] for assisance on his maer. 5) If RES sill does no funcion conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. Page 11 of 25

12 The Hazard lighs don flash afer Signalling RES o Sar. 1) Manually sar he Vehicle using eiher he Key or he Push Sar Buon. a) Confirm ha he Engine sars. Consul he Vehicle s Repair Manual. 1. You may also wan o conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 2) Tes he Remoe Keyless Enry Sysem. a) Press he Unlock Buon, and hen he Lock Buon. b) Confirm ha he Doors Lock and he Hazard Lighs flash. Consul he Vehicle s Repair Manual. You may also wan o 1. conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 3) Tes he Remoe Engine Sarer again. Make sure o perform he Press-Press- Hold funcion wih a good empo. Try his operaion close o he Vehicle as he Remoe Engine Sarer funcionaliy is dependan on he range of he Remoe. a) b) PRESS PRESS HOLD 2 Seconds 4 Seconds Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. (Coninued) 4) 5) 6) Check he following Condiions: a) Place he Vehicle in Park. b) Manually Sar he Vehicle using he Key or he Push Sar Buon o clear he 20 minue RES clock. c) Sop he Vehicle and remove he Key from he Igniion (Non-Smar Only). d) Verify ha he Brake Pedal is no being pressed by anyhing. e) Make sure he Check Engine Ligh is no acivaed. f) Close and Lock all Doors. g) Check he Connecions associaed wih he Hood Swich h) Verify ha he Hood is Closed. Rery he RES Sysem. Does RES work? Congraulaions on a successful Remoe Engine Sarer Insallaion. 7) If RES sill does no funcion conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 14 Vehicle Sops unexpecedly afer being sared wih RES. So you have a Vehicle ha will sar wih he RES Sysem bu keeps shuing off unexpecedly. Firs, le s review several reasons ha he RES will shu off RES will Auomaically shu off afer 10 minues. The Vehicle can be resared for an addiional 10 minues, however afer 20 minues he Vehicle will no longer Remoe Sar and mus be manually sared in order o rese he RES Clock. To proec he Engine, RES will shu he Vehicle off if he Check Engine ligh is on. The Hood has been opened or he Hood Swich Signal is fauly (check connecions). The Vehicle has been unlocked manually or wih he remoe. Any Door has been opened. The Key has been insered ino he Igniion or he Push Sar has been pressed. The Shifer has been moved ou of Park. Engine speed exceeds 3000 RPM. 9. Brake Pedal is depressed. Now if he RES sopped for some oher reason han hose lised above, le s run a simple RES Diagnosic es. 1) Remove he Passenger s Side Sep Cover. 2) Remove he Passenger s Side Cowl Cover. 3) Locae he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecors locaed in he Passenger s Cowl Area, and Connec hem. 15 Vehicle Sops unexpecedly afer being sared wih RES. LOCK ACC ON 4) Turn he IG o ON. START Wai a leas 3 seconds. 5) Press down on he Brake Pedal 6) Look for he Hazard Lighs o flash. Record he Number of Flashes. a) If here are more han 1 reason for he Engine sopping, he Hazard Lighs will flash based on he order of prioriy, hird column. Cause of Engine Sop Flashes Prioriy Terminal No abnormal sop in he pas 0 11 N/A IG is on 1 1 CANH, CANL, MPX, IG SIG Vehicle Door was unlocked 2 4 CANH, CANL, MPX Vehicle s RPMs are oo high/low 3 7 CANH, CANL, MPX Check Engine Ligh is on 4 8 CHK E/G (see Pg. 8) Any door or hood is opened 5 2 CANH, CANL, MPX, HCTY Shifer is no in Park 6 5 CANH, CANL, MPX, P Brake Pedal has been pressed 7 3 CANH, CANL, MPX, STP Vehicle speed is oher hen CANH, CANL, MPX Immobilizer signal is bad * 9 9 CANH, CANL, MPX, IMMOBI Check Engine Connecion is bad CANH, CANL, MPX, CHK *You should re-program he vehicle if he connecions associaed wih he Immobilizer signal are OK. 16 Vehicle Sops unexpecedly afer being sared wih RES. You ve now finished he RES Diagnosic Tes. Now Wha? If you found a cause for he Unexpeced Sop noe he signals associaed wih he Sop. Using he Elecrical Wiring Diagram Overview locaed on Pg. 20, locae he connecions associaed wih hese signals. Verify ha he connecions are correc and ha he signal is geing o he RES ECU. 4. For he IMMOBILIZER Signal ONLY, if he connecions are good make sure ha you have used he Programming Insrucions for Vehicles w/immobilizer. Re-program he Vehicle paying special aenion o he secion for programming he Immobilizer. 5. Exi ou of he RES Diagnosic Tes by one of wo mehods. Disconnec he RES Diagnosic Connecors OR wai 10 minues from he ime he Diagnosic Connecors were conneced. 6. If he Seps above did no resolve he issue, you will need o es for Vehicle Diagnosic Codes using he Techsream. See Pg. 18 for seps on how o do his. Page 16 of 25

17 RES won Sop So, you ve sared he Vehicle wih he RES Sysem and now he Car won Sop. Firs, le s es he Remoe Keyless Enry Sysem, and hen he RES Sysem. 1) 2) Press he Unlock buon on he Remoe. Do he Doors Unlock? Consul he Vehicle s Repair Manual. You may also wan o 1. conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance. 3) 4) Check he Remoe Engine Sop operaion. a) Press he Unlock Buon once, or Press and hold he Lock Buon for 2 seconds. Sop he Vehicle Manually. a) SMART VEHICLES Press he START Buon o sop he Engine. b) N-SMART VEHICLES Use he Key o urn off he Engine. 5) Disconnec he RES ECU Connecors. 6) 7) Use he Techsream o check for any Diagnosic Codes. Record any Codes. a) Refer o Pg. 18 for informaion on his process. Conac he TAS Line [ (800) ] for addiional roubleshooing assisance, be sure o repor o hem any Diagnosic Codes you discovered. 18 Techsream Diagnosic Tes So, you have done everyhing else and he RES Sysem Coninues no o funcion, sops unexpecedly, or does no sop once acivaed hen we ll need o check he Sysem using he Techsream. 1) Check he Vehicle Diagnosic Codes. a) b) Connec he Techsream Tool o he Vehicle s Diagnosic Por and sar he TIS Techsream Applicaion. Click on he Buon Labeled Healh Check. c) d) Make sure ha only Body (--- ECUs) is seleced. Click Nex>. Page 18 of 25

19 Techsream Diagnosic Tes e) Click Coninue. f) g) A lis of all ECUs on he Vehicle will be displayed. Any issues will be lised in he Curren column and be highlighed in Red. Double click on he Highlighed issues o see more deails and he acual Code. h) Record any Codes ha are displayed for each ECU affeced. Page 19 of 25 TE: The RES sysem is dependan on many Vehicle Side signals. I is always a good idea o resolve all oher issues prior o coninuing o Troubleshoo he RES Sysem. TE: For he RES Sysem you are specifically looking for Codes [B2334] or [B2333]. For hese codes you will need o conac he TAS Line a [ (800) ]. You will mos likely have o swap he ECUs.

REMOTE ENGINE STARTER (RES) REGISTRATION PROCEDURE For vehicles w/o Smar Enry and w/immobilizer OPEN he Hood 2. VERIFY ha he Shor Pin is in he Appropriae locaion (disconnec he Baery if you need o move he Shor Pin) 3. Temporarily CONNECT he Negaive Baery Terminal 4. OPEN he Passenger Fron Door 5. LOCATE he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecors in he Righ Kick Panel. 6. CONNECT he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecors ogeher 7. CLOSE all Doors (LEAVE THE HOOD OPEN) 8. INSERT a MASTER (Black) Immobilizer Key ino he Igniion Swich (use his key for he enire process) 9. TURN he Key from LOCK o ON five (5) imes, ending in he ON posiion 10. LOOK for he Hazard Lighs o flash ONCE 11. TURN he Igniion Swich o he OFF posiion 12. START he Engine and allow o idle for a leas 10 seconds 13. TURN he Igniion Swich o he OFF posiion. 14. LOOK for he Hazard lighs o flash ONCE. If hey do no flash or hey flash TWICE, disconnec he 1P RES Diagnosic Connecors and sar over from Sep TURN he Key o he ON posiion and back o he OFF posiion 16. REMOVE he Key from he Igniion Swich 17. OPEN he Driver s Door 18. Using a Remoe Conrol, PRESS he LOCK buon TWICE and hen a THIRD ime and HOLD i for 4 seconds 19.
