Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the examination board. (3) Section 2 applies to the admission requirements of section clause (2). 3 Evidence of Qualification for the Master s Degree Program () Applicants who have completed a bachelor s degree program in accordance with 2 section clause () or 2 section clause 2, with an overall grade of 2.5 or equivalent, and had their documents inspected and approved in the application evaluation process (if this is included deemed necessary for the respective application procedure) qualify for acceptance into this master s degree program. 2 Applicants also qualify for acceptance into this master s degree program, if they (subject to the application evaluation procedure, as referred to in clause ) fulfill the grading criteria, in accordance with clause, by improving their overall actual grade through one or more of the grade bonus provisions described in paragraph 2. 3 The grading criteria can also be met if applicants can provide written evidence that they belong in the top third of graduates in their prior degree program; only the overall grade received is relevant as a basis for comparison in this case. (5) By means of the documents listed in section 4, and a personal interview, applicants should provide evidence: that the commencement of the Master s Degree Program suitably complements their prior academic and professional education; that they are highly motivated to attend the degree program; that, based on their prior education, they are capable of addressing interdisciplinary problems in the disciplines of logistics and supply chain management, of identifying strategic business options, and of discussing potential future developments. 2 The University will send each applicant concerned an invitation to a personal interview. 3 The interview will be conducted by an examiner appointed by the examination board, and will last approximately 20 minutes. 4 If the applicant meets the requirements stipulated in section, the examination board will declare the evaluation as successfully passed; otherwise, the evaluation is considered as not passed. 5 A transcript will be provided, including the date and place of the examination, the names of the examiners, the evaluation of the examiners and the overall result. 6 The transcript must be signed by the respective examiners. (6) The applicants will receive the evaluation results before the beginning of the degree program; if the evaluation is deemed not passed, the respective applicants will receive a written explanation of this result. 2 Unsuccessful applicants are entitled to reapply at a later date. 4 Degree Program Objective () The Master s Degree Program aims at qualifying graduates for managerial roles in the field of logistics by means of the application of scientific methods. 2 Logistics and supply chain management are characterized by the integration of technical and business approaches. 3 New logistics management concepts cannot be realized without cutting edge technical support, and only new technical solutions in logistics and supply chain management enable the development of new logistics approaches. (2) Therefore, the degree program focuses on conveying the interface know-how of logistics, considering both business and technical aspects while integrating them into an overall concept. 2 The integrative concept enables graduates to take on senior level logistics management tasks. 3 With the successful completion of the degree program graduates have proved that they have acquired both the necessary professional knowledge and the abilities to understand technical interdependencies, to critically evaluate scientific findings and apply scientific methods in order to successfully meet the challenges in practice, and to deal with scientific issues independently.
4 4 5 Degree Program Structure () The degree program is offered as a full-time course; the regular duration of the program is three semesters. (2) Hof University of Applied Sciences reserves the right to cancel this degree program, if the number of suitably qualified applicants is insufficient. 6 Modules The modules required to pass the master s examination, type and scope of the lectures, types of examination, including the time allotted for the completion of written exams, admission requirements for the exams andthe evaluation according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) are defined in the appendix. 2 Lecturers offering the course type seminars or lectures (SU) may choose to conduct lessons outwith the university, such as field trips or business projects, in addition to or as an alternative to the regular lessons at the university. 7 Module Handbook, Program Curriculum () The Business Department issues a module handbook. 2 The module handbook outlines the content and objectives of the respective modules. 3 Moreover, it contains further specifications regarding the examinations, the admission requirements for the examinations, supervision during the master s thesis, and the language of instruction and examination, if these are languages other than German. 4 Furthermore, the module handbook describes the amount of course work, the recommended requirements for participation and the applicability of the modules. It also provides information regarding the relevant course & examination subjects and defines the scope and frequency of the modules. 5 The module handbook also defines criteria regarding the student schedules for identical modules offered in different time-slots during the same semester. (2) In addition, the Business Department issues a program curriculum. 2 The program curriculum provides information regarding the courses offered by the department and the recommended course of study. (3) The module handbook and the program curriculum are issued by the faculty board and are published for the information and guidance of students and university members. 2 New regulations must be published prior to the beginning of the semester in which the new regulations will enter into force for the first time. 3 Regulations concerning the assessment procedures require the approval of the examination board. 8 Master s Thesis The topic of the master s thesis may not be assigned earlier than the beginning of the second semester and (subject to the admission requirements of clause 2) must be assigned no later than the beginning of the third semester. 2 Students must have acquired at least 30 credits in order to be assigned a topic for the master s thesis. 3 The topic of the master s thesis is, as a general rule, assigned by a salaried professor lecturing in the Master s Program Supply Chain Management. 4 The examination board governs exceptions to clause 3.
5 5 9 Deadlines for Taking Examinations, Failure to Complete the Program within the Set Time All Master s Degree Program examinations must have been successfully completed by the end of the third semester. 2 If students exceed this deadline by more than two semesters, 8 section 3 clause 3 RAPO applies; 8 section 4 RAPO applies if the deadline is extended. 0 Language of Instruction and Examination For certain modules, the language of instruction and examination can be English. 2 Otherwise, lectures and examinations are held in German.
