1 VogelAlcove.org/Furniture Sip, Sample and Bid for a Cause! The Furniture 4 Kids brings together the worlds of fine food and high-end design for a memorable evening to benefit Vogel Alcove. The Furniture 4 Kids party will replace our Ambassadors of Hope Luncheon. The luncheon was a wonderful event, and we re grateful to those who have supported it. We simply wanted to offer a new and entertaining alternative to the buy a table, fill a table format, and Furniture 4 Kids certainly fits that bill! Furniture 4 Kids celebrates the joy, imagination and whimsy of childhood. The heart of the event is the Let Your Inner Designer Out of the Box competition, a design contest in which identical wooden toy boxes are transformed into functional furniture pieces. Event attendees can vote for their favorite piece and also bid on the items in a silent auction. Not to be outdone, Dallas top chefs will show off their creativity by providing tasting portions of their signature dishes. Lisa Garza-Selcer, owner of Sissy s Southern Kitchen, will oversee the food and wine offerings and provide tasty treats from her restaurant. Since 2006, GL Seaman & Company and OFS Brands have partnered to host Furniture 4 Kids, raising more than $100,000 for local charities. Proceeds from the Furniture 4 Kids event will benefit Vogel Alcove and our mission to help homeless children grow and succeed. 2 Design Contest! Furniture 4 Kids is a charitable design competition in which teams create functional home décor out of identical wooden toy boxes. At the Furniture 4 Kids party on October 20, 2016, these items will be auctioned off to raise funds for Vogel Alcove a Dallas non-profit dedicated to serving the needs of homeless children. Judges will select a winning entry, and partygoers will vote on their favorite piece as well. Proceeds from the Furniture 4 Kids event will benefit Vogel Alcove and its mission to help homeless children grow and succeed. Vogel Alcove provides healthy meals, early childhood education, family support, school-age camps and enrichment activities for more than 200 Dallas-area homeless children, ages six weeks to 12 years old. The Theme: Let Your Inner Designer Out of the Box. Unlike previous contest years, when the goal was to transform the box into an entirely new item, the directive for the 2016 event is to create a unique and beautiful box based on a theme, such as Jewelry box, Treasure box Travel case, Tackle box, Gift box, Hope chest, etc. So the box itself will remain functional as a storage piece, but the teams will decorate the box according to a theme and fill it with items related to that theme. The concept and contents of your box are limited only by your imagination! We hope you will apply your creative skills to make a one-of-a-kind item that will raise funds to support Vogel Alcove and its mission of helping homeless children grow and succeed.
