2 Inspiring by example is what you do every day when you are helping your child s school and showing the school staff how much you value what they are doing for your child.

3 Inspiring by example is what you do every day when you lead a group of dedicated volunteers and model the power of involvement.

4 Inspiring by example is what you do every day when you model for your own child that volunteering for others brings personal rewards.

5 The Lion and the Mouse Aesop Fable A Lion was awakened by a Mouse running over his face. Rising up angrily, the Lion caught the Mouse and was about to kill him, when the Mouse begged

6 If you would only spare my life, I would be sure to repay your kindness.

7 The Lion laughed at the idea of the Mouse being able to repay a favor but let him go.

8 Later, the Lion was caught by some hunters, who bound him with strong ropes to the ground. The Mouse, recognizing the Lion's roar, came and gnawed the rope with his teeth and set him free, exclaiming

9 You ridiculed the idea of my ever being able to help you; now you know that it is possible for even a tiny Mouse to do something for a Lion.

10 Aesop's Moral: No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.

11 Sometimes, with the daily demands on your time, perhaps you don t always see the influence that you have on the children. This is what YOU DO as a volunteer means to our children.

12 When my mom comes to school to help cut out things, I freak out!

13 When I see mommy at school, I stop being mean to Benji. I become nice, and I say hello to her.

14 When my dad visits, he always gives me a hug. I sparkle inside my heart. I smile a big smile when my little brother and my mother come to help at the book fair.

15 My mom knows that she can change the lives of children by helping at school. We need to appreciate all volunteers because they put so much effort into their work for us. They use all of the break time to work for us.

16 My dad doesn t have a job, but he comes to school and works in the library. He is a Watchdog. My friends think it is so cool that a dad is in the library when we check out books.

17 My parents have to work all day, so I understand, but I am and should be very grateful because other parents do help our school.

18 I like when my mom comes to school because she cares and she wants to see what I am doing. Did you know they work for free?

19 When my mom comes to help, she eats with me. She asks me how my day is going, and I can tell her what has happened in class. I miss my mom.

20 My grandma comes and reads at school. She is a good helper. She won t get into fights.

21 Volunteers take time to come help us. That is very, very generous. They make sure students are supposed to be where they are suppose to be.

22 I feel cool when my parents come to school to help. I get to brag to the people that pick on me, and I get to eat with my parents and one of my friends.

23 I like for my mom and dad to volunteer because they need friends.

24 My mom works at the store. I always wish she would be at my school or to be a substitute. It is sad, but, I notice other mothers who go on field trips are always very nice to me.

25 I like when my mom volunteers at school because I get to be with her and have fun! (sometimes)

26 I feel so popular when my friends see my mom helping at school.

27 It makes me feel good that grown-ups are contributing to the school. They are taking time from their busy schedules to support our school. It really touches me and makes my day when they show up and seem happy. They have emotions for our school.

28 When my parents come to school to help, they use their relaxing time at home and turn that time into time to help us.

29 It makes me feel like that person is using something priceless to help others. That priceless object isn t tangible. It is time. Time is life.

30 Everyday, I see parents coming out of the office, stapling papers or helping in the workroom. It means that they care to make the school a more wanted place to be.

31 I can t believe how nice my friend s mom is when she helps at the school. She waves at me, too. She really cares about our learning.

32 When my parents come to help, I feel happy. That s because I feel they come to be with me more. They must really love me.
