2 Getting ready for college can be overwhelming and stressful. This guide will reduce your stress by helping you organize and complete the necessary steps before the priority deadlines. Have you already started one or more of these steps? Great! Use this guide to determine which steps you still need to complete. Keep this guide as a resource!

5 1Enrollment checklist New students are encouraged to start the college admissions process early. Students should submit necessary documentation six months prior to their anticipated attendance, and no later than the priority deadlines: August 1 for fall semester, December 1 for spring semester, and May 1 for summer semester. Complete the application for admission. Submit the paper form or apply online at caspercollege.edu/admissions. Request offi cial high school or High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET) transcripts to be sent to Casper College by mail. Request all offi cial college transcripts. If you ve attended college anywhere else, you need to have those transcripts sent to Casper College by mail from the institution(s) in a sealed envelope. Mail: Casper College Enrollment Services 125 College Drive Casper, WY Fax: In person: Gateway Building, third fl oor Submit proof of two MMR immunizations. Proof may be mailed, faxed, or hand delivered to enrollment services. If a record of your immunizations is not available, you can be reimmunized, or tested for immunity by the Student Health Service offi ce. Service availability and costs vary. For details call Student Health Service at Submit placement scores if you have not taken and successfully completed college level math and English courses. ACT, SAT, or COMPASS* scores must be less than one year old. The COMPASS exam is available at the Casper College Student Success Center on the third fl oor of the Gateway Building. Please call for the scheduled dates, times and cost. *COMPASS: Please pay for the exam in the Accounting and Financial Management offi ce, Gateway Building, third fl oor. Then take the receipt to the Student Success Center, Gateway Building, third fl oor to take your COMPASS exam. Scores are available after the test is completed.

7 2 Financial Explore Aid The cost of college can be intimidating. If you are active and take some initiative to apply for fi nancial aid, the cost of college can become very affordable. Apply for grants, loans, and work-study by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Apply for the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov. Include Casper College as one of your choice colleges using the Federal School Code The FAFSA should be completed as early as possible. The priority deadline for submission of the FAFSA is March 1. Search and apply for scholarships through your community or activity groups. If eligible, apply for the Hathaway Scholarship on our website, caspercollege.edu/fi nancial_aid/hathaway.html. Students who recently graduated from a Wyoming high school may be eligible. Apply for institutional scholarships. Casper College awards millions of dollars in scholarships each year. You may qualify for this money based on your academic record, fi nancial need, group affi liation, or anticipated activities. You must apply to receive these awards. The application priority deadline for fall scholarship awards is March 1. Applications are available on the Stars Online application at: caspercollege.edu/fi nancial_aid/scholarships.html. If eligible, apply for Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefi ts by contacting the veteran assistance coordinator at or visit caspercollege.edu/ fi nancial_aid/veterans.html.

9 Consider 3Housing Options Students are not required to live on campus. However, on-campus housing is a great option! Reasons to live on campus: Meet other students more easily and form friendships that last a lifetime. Enjoy the spontaneous fun interaction with roommates and other residents. Have the personal safety provided by security patrol 24 hours a day. Succeed students who live on campus are more likely to succeed in school and graduate. Live a convenient walking distance from class. Check out the rooms! If you choose to live on campus fi ll out the housing application and submit your damage deposit. Housing applications are available in March prior to the next academic year. Housing applications may be found online at caspercollege.edu/housing. Paper applications are available upon request.

11 4 Complete T-Bird WAY After you have submitted the appropriate documents to Enrollment Services, you should be notifi ed in writing if you have been accepted to Casper College. You will then be invited to complete our T-Bird WAY welcome program. One of the steps within the program will allow you to request an appointment with an advisor. T-Bird WAY (Welcome, Advising, & You) is an online learning program designed to help you learn: How to navigate CC resources How much time and money you need to budget for college How to use the catalog and class schedule tools How adding/dropping classes affects fi nancial aid

13 5 Meet with an Advisor and Register for Classes Your advisor will help you choose classes for the upcoming semester. Students are encouraged to attend a registration appointment in person; however, phone advisement can be arranged. After meeting with an advisor, you will be able to register for classes. Meet with an academic advisor. Your advisor gets you started by helping you pick out the correct classes for your major. All new students are required to meet with an advisor before they can register. Register for classes. After you have met with an advisor, the advisor hold will be taken off of your account and you will be allowed to register for classes. You can register online on WebAdvisor using the student login information you will be given. You can also register at Enrollment Services located in the Gateway Building, third fl oor.

14 Attend 6New Student Orientation Orientation sessions are required to help you transition into a successful college experience. After you register for classes, you will be invited to attend an orientation session. Sessions are typically offered the week before the semester begins. An invitation will provide more specific details. Orientation will help you become familiar with campus policies, buildings, and services. Don t miss this opportunity to receive information to help you be successful. 16 7 Submit Payment Accounting and Financial Management Gateway Building, third floor , ext fax: Make payment: Questions about payments: Before payment deadline you should verify that requested financial aid has paid your account balance in full. Students who owe a remaining balance must pay the full amount, or establish a payment plan, by the payment deadline published in the class schedule. Payments can be made using the WebAdvisor system, over the phone, or in person at the Accounting and Financial Management office, Gateway Building, third floor. If you have financial aid left over after your balance is paid, you will receive a refund check, which can be picked up in the Accounting and Financial Management office. You can look up the current cost of tuition and room and board online at caspercollege.edu/business_office/fees. Plan for your educational expenses by completing the student budget planner on the next page.

18 Purchase Books 8and Attend Class Each instructor determines which books and supplies are required or recommended for each course. This information is published and available on the WebAdvisor student information system, in the bookstore, and will be explained during the fi rst day of class. Students need to be prepared to purchase the necessary items before, or soon after, the fi rst day of class. Do you know where your class(es) are located? Students are encouraged to become familiar with campus before classes begin. Course attendance and communication with the instructor will ensure your success. Need a copy of your schedule? Students can print their class schedule from the WebAdvisor student information system, or request a copy from Enrollment Services, Gateway Building, third fl oor. You must bring a photo ID in order to obtain a copy of your schedule from the offi ce. Campus maps are also available in Enrollment Services to help you fi nd your classroom buildings. 19 Other Student Services Student Success Center Gateway Building, third floor Disability Services All part-time and full-time students enrolled at Casper College who have a documented physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disability are eligible for disability services. Visit the Student Success Center to discuss documentation, accommodation needs, and to complete a service agreement. Career Services Not sure what to do with your life? Get help early! The Student Success Center can help you research career options, choose courses, choose a transfer university, and find employment after college. They can also assist you with finding a job on or off campus to help pay for college. Stop by and start mapping out your future. Student Wellness Student Health Service Bad eating habits, late nights, and the stress of college can leave you drained and susceptible to illness. Our Student Health Service office is here to keep you healthy so you don t miss out on anything. Services like flu shots, free clinics, referrals, etc. are available. Counseling Services We understand that our students sometimes hit a rough patch and need someone to talk to. Our counselors are licensed professionals that can provide a fresh, unbiased look at your situation and help you through it. This is a confidential free service available to our students. So if you need someone to talk to, stop by the Campus Wellness Center. Security Our team of officers is committed to service. They are available on campus 24/7 to help students with room and vehicle lockouts, and are happy to escort students to their vehicles or rooms. If you ever need the help of our security team just dial Student Life and Activities College shouldn t be all work and no play. We offer over 35 clubs and activities for our students including intramurals, open mic nights, free movies, and free admission to college sporting events. To get involved on campus, contact our Student Activities office at Tutoring Services We offer a variety of tutoring services on our campus. We have a Math Lab, English Center, Writing Center, Oral Communication Lab, and Statistics Lab that are here to assist you. For tutoring in all other subject areas we also offer Smart Thinking, an online tutoring service.
