7 Turncraft is one of the few remaining manufacturers of true Architectural Round and Square Columns. Architectural Wood Columns are available in virtually any wood species. Turncraft Architectural manufactures the widest variety of styles and product in the industry, available in just about any size or configuration. Our custom computer controlled lathes make the most accurate columns with true architectural proportions and tapers whether the columns are round or square. Turncraft Architectural has a custom shop ready to handle reproduction work and custom designs. They can match details and specifications of existing columns and can even recreate products using our composite products. Exterior columns are manufactured using Cedar which offers excellent protection from insects, rot and decay. For exterior use composite cap and base sets are available providing a lifetime of service.

8 Turncraft s Colonial Wood Columns are offered in the most popular sizes and are the most cost effective product on the market. Poly Reaction Injected Cap and Base Sets with ventilation holes are perfect for either interior or exterior applications. Wood Cap and Base Sets are available for interior use only. 9 Wood columns take more time to install. False: Wood columns are typically easier to install than composite columns because most contractors are familiar with working with wood. The average home owner can install wood columns with common hand tools they already own. Turncraft Wood Columns can also be ordered custom fluted and or end trimmed to the customers specifications which will speed up installation time. Wood columns can be ordered with factory applied primer and or interior asphalt coating to reduce installation and finishing time.

10 Wood columns typically have a short life span. False: Take a drive through some of the oldest places in America, what do you see? Wood columns that have been there for decades. With today s adhesives, high quality primers and paints and new manufacturing processes, wood columns will last a lifetime when properly installed and maintained. Turncraft s uses Cedar to make our exterior Ten Year Limited Warranty Columns. Cedar has excellent insect and rot and decay resistance.

11 Wood columns are only available in select sizes and species. False: Wood columns are available in more sizes, shapes and configurations than all of our competitor s composite product offerings combined. Wood columns can be manufactured in many different species. If you need to match your custom cabinets we can build a column for you. Wood columns are available with up to 4 wall thickness to allow for custom installation such as second story joist attachments. Wood columns can be custom made to match preexisting column details. Wood columns are load bearing.

12 Turncraft is the only manufacturer with control of our own raw material. We can control the grade, species, dimensions and moisture content to produce the best possible finished product. Turncraft s Post Defense Porch Post are not like other wood posts. We manufacture our wood post with hightech adhesives, specially formulated primer and a special end-seal to protect the post from moisture damage. Turncraft s Post Saver Mounting Blocks are also an industry exclusive product. We will even install them on the bottom of the porch post when requested. 14 Turncraft uses a proprietary FRP mix for the strongest columns available today. Poly-Classic Columns are manufactured using precision mixing machines to insure consistent product quality. Turncraft Cap and Base Sets are manufactured from a variety of materials, FRP, Polyurethane, Polystyrene, and Injection molded ABS. By making our own cap and base sets we can guarantee a perfect fit every time, no matter what material is used. Turncraft has the ability to make custom molds to cast columns, cap and base sets and decorative capitals for architecturally specified jobs or to match existing products for historical restoration.

15 FRP columns cannot be painted dark colors. False: Unlike some of our competitor s products, Turncraft s FRP Columns may be painted any color including dark colors. FRP columns must be sanded prior to painting. False: Turncraft does that for you; Our FRP columns (up to 14 x 12 ) are factory rotational sanded ready to paint saving the customer time and money. Our competitors do not rotational sand their columns and require the contractor or homeowner to sand the column prior to painting. Some competitors only sand the flashing seams often resulting in the seam still showing after they are painted. All FRP columns need to be painted. False: Turncraft s DuraStone Columns are available in three colors Ivory, Sand and Slate and never need to be painted.

16 All FRP columns are the same. False: Turncraft uses a proprietary mix that is unique to the industry, resulting in a fully catalyzed product for the strongest columns in the industry. Many FRP columns are manufactured by mixing the product in buckets and pouring into the molds. Turncraft uses precision metered machines to insure a perfect amount of product is poured into the mold for consistent columns every time. Turncraft tests every batch of resin to guarantee it meets our specifications prior to casting columns. Detailed records are kept of every batch of material to insure quality and consistency. Turncraft does extensive testing, including third party testing by companies like Warnock Hersey, to be sure we are providing the finest products available today.

17 Poly-Columns do not meet ASTM E84. False: All of our Poly-Classic FRP Columns meet the Class 1 Rating for interior use. Turncraft s Flame Spread rating is 15 and our Smoke Developed Index is 335. Turncraft is the only manufacturer to meet the ASTM E84 code on every column they make, most manufacturers only offer to meet this code on a special order basis. All split FRP columns are the same. False: Turncraft s properly catalyzed FRP columns do not require ventilation, metal plates, or aluminum flanges for reassembly. Turncraft split columns are easily reassembled using our simple to use split kit.

18 Turncraft s standard PVC columns are made from 5/8 material, most of our competitors use thinner 1/2 or 3/8 board. Turncraft has over 1500 standard items in our PVC Craftsman Series Columns to satisfy almost every need. Even with 1500 standard items to choose from custom sizes can be made to your specifications. Turncraft can custom manufacture PVC columns in a wide array of sizes and styles from 4-48 wide and up to 24-0 tall. Turncraft s Craftsman PVC Column are the most versatile PVC columns on the market. Our columns are shipped KD (Knock Down) and are easier to field trim and modify if necessary than the semi-assembled columns from our competitors. Our EZ-Lock Joint results in the most square and tightest fitting corners in the industry.

19 Two piece or semi assembled columns are quicker to install than KD (knock down) columns. False: For most applications our KD columns with our EZ-lock joints can be installed in about the same amount of time as semiassembled columns and are much easier to field trim or modify if necessary. Turncraft s EZ-Lock Joint allows our column to be installed with three panels assembled to wrap a structural post. With one face open the installer can easily make handrail attachments to the structural support. Many contractors use our columns to hide downspouts, electrical wiring and notch to go around structural elements that are difficult or almost impossible with a semi-assembled column. Our EZ-Lock Joint corners easily assemble with only polyurethane adhesive. Others on the market use tape to assemble the corners and will leave a sticky residue that is difficult to remove.

Composite centering blocks are positioned at integral areas on the posts to accept handrail attachments and trim pieces Turncraft uses an internal square galvanized steel support for extra strength.
