11 Funding modalities Individual funding for the Principle Investigator and his project Funding to establish or consolidate a research group in Europe New funding guidelines (Horizon 2020): 100% + 25% All direct costs: salary of PI and team members, travel and publication costs, consumables, costs of equipment In addition: overhead on all funded direct costs Value added tax is now reimbursable Salary of the PI is reimbursable up to the percentage of working time that is spend on the ERC project October 20, 2014 Getting funded: European Research Council 11

14 Evaluation process International peer-review: 25 scientific evaluation panel with 10 to 15 members and a panel chair PIs must choose a matching review panel for their proposal PIs of interdisciplinary proposal can choose a secondary review panel Two-step evaluation process: Step 1: review of part B1 by the panel members (at least 4) Step 2: review of part B1 and B2 by the panel members and external reviewers plus interview with the PI in Brussels Ranking of all proposal in the categories A, B or C October 20, 2014 Getting funded: European Research Council 14
