5 5 C H A P T E R 1 Welcome to McAfee Secure Container McAfee Secure Container lets you manage your business , contacts, and calendar items on your Android mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets. It also lets you synchronize or sync your items with a Microsoft Exchange server. With McAfee Secure Container you can: Get instantly on your device Encrypt your so it s secure Get notifications and alerts about events Search for , calendar, and contact information Add your signature to outgoing Synchronize your , calendar, and contact information with the Exchange server Set how often you want to sync Lock your application so it s secure This user guide provides instructions for smartphone users and tablet users.

7 7 Getting started Before you install McAfee Secure Container, check that your Android device meets the minimum system requirements. After you install your product, you can create your account. System requirements Your Android device must meet these minimum system requirements to run McAfee Secure Container: EMM agent Google Android 2.2 or higher 10 MB or more of memory space GPRS, Wi-Fi, or any packet data connection McAfee Secure Container is available in English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. Install McAfee Secure Container Create your account You can install McAfee Secure Container on your Android device in a few simple steps. 1 On your device launcher or application screen, tap the Play Store application icon. 2 Press the Search icon, and search for McAfee Secure Container. 3 Select the search result and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the application. You can also download and install McAfee Secure Container by logging in to EMM Agent on your Android device, and then choosing Get Recommended Apps. You can create an account on the Microsoft Exchange server to sync your , calendar, and contacts between your smartphone and the server. Contact your Exchange server administrator for your Exchange server name. 1 On your device home screen, tap the Launcher icon for McAfee EMM 2 Type your address, password, and server name. 3 Tap Sign In.
8 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 8 4 Tap Update Configuration. 5 Tap Accept to accept the user agreement. 6 Please wait while we set up McAfee Secure Container.
9 9 7 Type your Exchange password. 8 Create a passcode that has four alphanumeric or special characters. 9 Retype your passcode, and then tap Next. Tip: It s a good idea to memorize your passcode or keep it in a safe place.
10 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 10 Using your About your screen You can compose, receive, and send messages from your Android smartphone, and you can also synchronize your folders with the Exchange server. After you set up your account on the Exchange server, the Inbox displays your messages. Using options You can compose, sort, and search your messages to stay connected and up to date with your business. Create a message You can create an message in a few simple steps. 2 Tap the New icon in the top action bar. 3 In the To field, type the recipient s address.
11 11 4 Type the subject and content of your message. 5 Tap Send. Or, tap Save draft to save your message in the Drafts folder and send it at a later time. Tip: You can add Cc and Bcc recipients, by long pressing the To label, and then tapping Add Cc/Bcc. You can attach files to your message by clicking the Attach File label List folders You can check messages in other folders by switching your view from the Inbox to another folder. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the folder icon, and then choose the folder you want to view.
12 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 12 Performing batch actions Refresh messages You can refresh your mailbox to sync your messages with your Exchange server account. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the Refresh icon. Sort messages You can sort the messages in your list in ascending or descending order. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the More icon. 3 Tap Sort by and choose one of these options: Sort by Date Sort by Subject Sort by Sender Sort by Attachment Mark all messages as read You can mark all messages in a folder as read to clear your notifications about unread messages. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the More icon. 3 Tap Mark all as read. Search for a message You can search your messages using keywords. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the Search icon. 3 In the search field, type your search keyword, and then tap the magnifying glass icon. You can perform batch actions, such as deleting and moving multiple messages at once.
13 13 Delete messages You can delete multiple messages from your account. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the More icon. 3 Tap Select all. 4 In the bottom action bar, tap the Delete icon. Mark messages as read or unread You can mark multiple messages as read or unread. 2 In the bottom action bar, tap the More icon. 3 Tap Select all. 4 Tap the Message icon to mark the messages as read or unread.
14 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 14 Managing your account You can change your settings to set default options like notifications, display, and synchronization. Change your account name You can change the account name that you used when you first created your account. 2 On the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings. 4 Tap Account Name, and then tap Account name again. 5 Edit your account name, and then tap OK. Set options for incoming You can set default options for incoming messages. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings. 4 Tap Receiving . 5 Tap Incoming server. 6 Confirm or edit your account settings, like address, password, and domain name.
15 15 Set options for outgoing You can choose your settings for outgoing messages. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings. 4 Tap Sending . 5 Tap options. 6 Verify your name and address. 7 Type the addresses to which you want to send blind carbon copies (Bcc) of all your outgoing messages. Tip: Separate multiple addresses with a semicolon, for example: name1@domain.com; name2@domain.com. 8 Confirm your signature text. Save your messages You can save your messages and other information by choosing a default storage location. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings. 4 Tap Storage. 5 Tap Storage location, and then choose the default storage location: Phone External (media card)
16 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 16 Get notifications You can choose how you want your application to notify you of events. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings. 4 Tap Notifications. 5 Choose your notifications settings. Choose Inbox Sent New ringtone Vibrate Vibration patterns Repeat vibration Blink LED To Display a notification in the status bar when you receive an . Display a notification in the status bar when you send an . Choose a ringtone for new notifications. Make your smartphone vibrate when you receive new . Choose a vibration pattern for your smartphone. Make your smartphone s vibration pattern repeat for the selected number of times. Make the LED blink when you receive . Sync your settings You can edit the sync settings that you chose when you first set up your account on the Exchange server. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap Account settings.
17 17 4 Tap Sync settings. 5 Confirm or edit your sync settings. 6 Choose a sync frequency. Choose Automatic Manual Every 15 minutes Every 30 minutes Every hour To Sync items from the server to your smartphone whenever you have new , calendar, and contacts. Choose how often you want to sync your , calendar, and contacts from the server to your smartphone. Sync items from the server to your smartphone every 15 minutes. Sync items from the server to your smartphone every 30 minutes. Sync items from the server to your smartphone every hour. 7 Choose the items you want to sync and their frequency. Choose Calendar Contacts 8 Tap Next. Set your display To Sync your from the server to your smartphone. You can then choose the time period up to when you want to sync your s. Sync your calendar from the server to your smartphone. You can then choose the time period up to when you want to sync your calendar items. Sync your contact list from the server to your smartphone. You can choose how you want your application to display. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings.
18 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 18 3 Tap General settings. 4 Tap Display. 5 Tap Font size and choose one of these options: Folder lists lists 6 Choose a font size for each item listed. Change your passcode It s good practice to change your passcode periodically to prevent anyone who knows it from using your application without your knowledge. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Settings. 3 Tap General settings. 4 Tap Change Passcode. 5 Type your current passcode, and then type a new one. 6 Retype your new passcode, and then tap Next.
19 19 Using the calendar The calendar helps you schedule and manage your meetings, events, and appointments. You can switch to daily, weekly, and monthly views to plan your work schedule. You can also synchronize your events with the Exchange server. See the daily view The Day view displays your daily meetings, events, and appointments in hourly timeslots, and lets you manage those events. See the agenda view The Agenda view lists your meetings, events, and appointments for any date, and lets you manage those events.
20 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 20 See the weekly view The Week view displays your weekly meetings, events, and appointments, and lets you manage those events. See the monthly view The Month view highlights the dates in the month in which you have meetings, events, or appointments, and lets you manage those events. Setting calendar options You can add, edit, delete, and search calendar events to manage your business activities. Add an event You can add a new event, meeting, or appointment in a few simple steps.
21 21 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Calendar. 3 Press Add New Event icon to create a new one. 4 Type the name and location of your event. 5 Choose the date and time when your event starts and ends. 6 Choose the frequency of your event. 7 Tap Time zone and choose the time zone in which you want to create your event. 8 Tap Alert and choose when you want to get an alert for the event. 9 Tap Invitees Search and choose the contacts you want to invite to your event. Or, type addresses in the Invitees text box to invite the people who are not in your contact list. Tip: Separate multiple addresses with a semi colon, for example: name1@domain.com; name2@domain.com. 10 Type a description of your event in Notes. 11 Tap Save. Tip: Long press on the calendar screen also pops up a menu to create a new event. Delete an event You can delete an event you created in the past, or the ones you no longer need. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Calendar. 3 Tap the event you want to delete. 4 Tap the Delete icon.
22 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 22 Edit an event You can edit a non-recurring event, meeting, or appointment in a few simple steps. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Calendar. 3 Tap the event you want to edit. 4 In the bottom action bar, tap the Edit icon. 5 Change the information you want to edit. 6 Tap Save. Search for an event You can search calendar events using keywords. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Calendar. 3 In the bottom action bar, tap the Search icon. 4 In the search field, type your search keyword, and then tap the magnifying glass icon at the beginning of the search bar.
23 23 Setting calendar event status You can set the status of your calendar events by following these steps: 2 Press Menu, and then tap Calendar. 3 In Calendar view, do one of these to create an event: Tap the Create New Event icon. Long press in the list area. 4 Set the status of your event: 5 Your calendar event is shown in a color-coded background according to its status: Blue Out of office Teal Tentative Gray Free Purple Out of office
24 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 24 6 Your event status is synced with the Exchange server. 7 When you accept a meeting, your event status is automatically set to Busy. 8 When you click on the calendar event you get to see calendar details as shown below: Note: When you tentatively accept a meeting, your event status is automatically set to Tentative. 9 After you accept the meeting you get a menu to respond to the request with three different options as shown below: 10 Also after you accept a calendar event, you will get notifications about the meeting in the notification bar. 11 Once you drag the notification bar you will get to see a UI with the event details.
25 12 You can dismiss either one event or all events or snooze. 25
26 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 26 Working with contacts Add a contact With McAfee Secure Container, you can manage your contacts stored in your application, in another location on your smartphone, and in the Global Address List (GAL) on the Exchange server. You can also synchronize your contacts with the Exchange server. You can add a new contact in a few simple steps. 2 Press Menu, and then tap Contacts. 3 Press Add Contact.
27 27 Edit or delete a contact 4 Tap the Image button to choose an image for your contact. 5 Tap on the pull-down menu to show your contact information. 6 Type your contact s details, and then tap Save. 2 Press Menu, and then tap Contacts. 3 Tap a contact. 4 Press Menu, and then do one of these: Tap Delete to delete the contact. Tap Edit to edit the contact details, and then tap Done Call or text a contact You can call or send a text message to a contact that s stored in McAfee Secure Container, or on your device. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Contact. 3 Tap a contact. 4 Do one of the following: Tap the Call icon to call that contact. Tap the SMS icon to send a text message to that contact. a contact You can send an to a contact that s stored in McAfee Secure Container, or on your device.
28 Chapter 2 Smartphone and tablet users 28 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Contact. 3 Tap a contact. 4 Tap the icon next to address. 5 Type the subject and content of your message. 6 Tap Send. Or, tap Save draft to save your message in the Drafts folder and send it at a later time. Search for a contact You can search for a contact that s stored in your McAfee Secure Container, on your device, or in the Global Address List (GAL) on the Exchange server. 2 In the top action bar, press the More icon, and then select Contact. 3 In the bottom action bar, tap the Search icon. 4 In the search field, type your search keyword, and then tap the magnifying glass icon at the beginning of search bar. 5 You can search your Global Address List by pressing the Search Directory.

30 Chapter 3 Secure Container widgets 30 Using widgets Setting up a widget Widgets are items that are embedded in other apps, like the Home screen, and can periodically show updates about your app. The Secure Container widget has two views: the Inbox view and the Calendar view. The Inbox view displays the three most recent s and the total number of unread s. The Calendar view displays your next three upcoming events. After you ve installed Secure Container, you can install its widget on your Home screen. If the application is not set up, the widget displays the message Set up your account. About the Inbox view After you tap this widget, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your widget. In the Inbox view, you can view the three most recent s and the total number of unread s. If you don t have any unread s, the number is blank. The widget can only display up to 99 unread s, even if you have more in your Inbox. The widget Inbox view has two states depending on the state of Secure Container: Locked and Unlocked. When you tap on the widget, the Inbox view appears. Viewing the locked Inbox widget When your widget s Inbox view is locked, it displays the number of unread s on the top right. You can unlock your account from the widget.
31 31 Viewing the unlocked Inbox widget When your widget s view is unlocked, it displays the three most recent s and their corresponding icons. Unread s display a blue vertical bar. The number below the envelope icon is the total number of unread s. Tip: A point to be noted here is that the mail icon is active while the calendar icon is de-active (grayed) to show that the widget is in the mail view. About the Calendar view In the Calendar view, you can view upcoming three calendar events. Widget Calendar view has 2 states, Locked and Unlocked depending on the state of the Secure Container application. Tapping on the Widget in this view will take you to Calendar view of application.
