3 Friends of Scouting (FOS) is an annual council-wide campaign that asks parents, families and businesses to consider financially supporting the Scouting program in an effort to offset the cost of providing Scouting programs. Because of the FOS campaign, Scouting costs can be kept in check especially compared with the costs of other youth organizations and activities. When you financially contribute to the Boy Scouts of America Friends of Scouting campaign, your dollars go to these sources. 84% goes to Programs and Camping Support Cub/Boy Scout; Venturing; Learning for Life & Exploring Jamborees, Recognition Dinners, and much more Scout Reach, Special Needs, Juvenile Diversion Scholarships for youth members Scouting for food, Drug Awareness, Youth Protection Support in establishing new units Camper insurance for units at council and sponsored events Monthly Roundtables Training for volunteers: Fast Start, Basic Training, Wood Badge Training for Youth Leaders: Grey Wolf, NYLT Maintenance services and improvements for eight Scout camps Community Public Relations Trained staff to support the council, districts, and Units 8% goes to Fundraising Friends of Scouting supplies and support Product sales ( popcorn) coordination and support Grant writing 8% goes to Management and General Expense Maintenance of Service Centers, Annual Reports, independent auditor, accounting Maintenance of office equipment Council website Council bulletins to inform leaders of events, programs, trainings Transportation and staff training The true cost of Scouting is much greater than our Pack s registration fees, den dues and camping fees. FOS is vitally important to keeping the cost of Scouting reasonable. Gifts made before Jan. 1 are tax deductible this year! 3

Test and Register your car on Jan. 11 at St. Dominic Church from 6pm-7pm. 5. Race Night is Jan. 12 starting at 6pm. 6. Have family fun building and racing pinewood derby race cars!
