Both of our teams played so well. One of the teams have made it through to the finals, coming second out of the Pilton schools. Class 4 trip to Royal Opera House, Covent Garden to see Il Tabarro/Gianni Schicchi We had a fabulous time in London at The Royal Opera House. The performances were amazing. The tragedy of Il Tabarro and the comedy of Gianni Schicchi were contrasting which allowed us to experience different feelings.

2 Class 3 trip to Burton Art Gallery On Thursday, the children travelled by public bus to The Burton Art Gallery in Bideford. They explored the Annual Schools' Art Exhibition and took part in two portrait inspired workshops. They created paintings influenced by their favourite objects and drew each other's portrait. It was a brilliant day! Quicksticks Hockey, Devon Winter Games The children really enjoyed their day in Torbay representing North Devon in the hockey tournament. They played against some challenging teams, winning some games, drawing some games and losing some too. They came sixth overall we are so proud of them. The children were seen on BBC Spotlight!

3 Class 3 and 4 trip This week has been British Science Week and the pupils in Classes 3 and 4 went on a fantastic trip We applied for and won a grant from Kick Start, that paid for all of the transport to Bristol. It was a beautiful day and just walking around the grounds of the science museum was inspiring. We arrived at 10:15 and spent the morning on the ground floor, where the pupils had the chance to interact with all of the exhibits in this zone. The exhibits were perfect in supporting much of the work that we have covered recently, particularly work on forces and sound. We then had an amazing show in the 3D planetarium. Our pupils were a real credit to the school, answering all of the questions that were asked. We then spent the afternoon in the top zones. Here there were even more interactive exhibits and many of the pupils were particularly engrossed in the stop frame animation and many of them made their own films. Hopefully you can access some of these films, if the pupils have kept their wrist bands! Overall, a great day in Bristol. Well done Goodleigh School! Class 1 visit from Dogs Trust How to care for a dog Gemma, Buster and Midnight came to visit Class 1 from The Dogs Trust. The children learned how to care for dogs properly.

4 Class 2 Farm to Fork visit, Barnstaple Tesco Extra The children started by looking for all different types of fruits and vegetables to see where they came from. They found lots from places like Spain, Costa Rica and Morocco. They then went to the fish counter where they learnt all about the different types of fish and how they are prepared. They experienced the inside of the bakery where they saw doughnuts and hot cross buns being prepared. Their last stop was the education room where they tried strawberries, blackberries, tomatoes and cheese. It was a great trip! Sport Relief Thank you for your support for this event. We raised a total of The children from Class 1 and 2 enjoyed playing sporty games on the playground and the children in Classes 3 and 4 enjoyed running a mile for Sport Relief! Class 3 and 4 Kagemusha Taiko performance, Landmark Theatre, Wednesday 23 rd March The children will be travelling by coach to Ilfracombe and will be returning within the school day. They will need a packed lunch with a non-fizzy drink. Please complete the slip attached if you would like to order a school packed lunch and return it to the school office by Monday.

5 PFTA Easter Bingo Night, Goodleigh Village Hall, Wednesday 23 rd March Please come along, have a fun evening and help raise funds for your school. Refreshments of tea, coffee, cakes and squash from 50p will be on offer. Come along at 5.45pm; eyes down at 6pm. The PFTA would be grateful for donations of Easter eggs for the bingo. 7 Royal Opera House opportunity for families. The Welcome Performance is specifically for families that have never been to the Opera House before and is made up of a morning of activities across the front of house space followed by a matinee performance. On Saturday 2 April the performance is Giselle, performed by the Royal Ballet. The activities run from 10.30am and include demonstrations from Royal Ballet school, dance workshops, backstage craft demonstrations and workshops, storytelling, costumes, orchestra and conducting workshops and a whole load more.
