1 Welcome and Background Welcome to our exhibition where you can view proposals for Claires Court s new school campus. The New School Claires Court is a popular and successful school in the local area and to continue providing a first rate education for a growing pupil base it must secure a new campus. The is an exciting proposal to unify Claires Court into a single campus with extensive playing fields, which will provide a high quality school environment, catering for children from Early Years up to Sixth Form. The school is currently split over three sites with existing buildings that are old and in need of renovation. Consolidating these sites will create a unified and modern school campus that will reduce the need to travel between sites and allow pupils at Claires Court to continue to thrive. New Homes Claires Court is working in partnership with Berkeley Homes to deliver the Ridgeway Project. To enable the new school campus, the vacated school sites at College Avenue and Ray Mill Road East, in addition to part of the Ridgeway site, will be redeveloped into homes by Berkeley. Throughout this project, Claires Court will maintain its core values of Responsibility, Respect, Loyalty and Integrity.
2 About Claires Court Claires Court is a family school, providing a high quality education for nearly 1100 local young people aged 3 to 18 years. As a broad ability day school, it is the only one in the Thames Valley to offer families a diamond shape education. This allows a unique opportunity for boys and girls to be educated during their Junior and Senior years separately, but come together for trips and visits, whilst Nursery and Sixth Form pupils benefit from a co educational provision. Founded in 1960 by the current Principals parents, Claires Court has roots in Maidenhead stretching back to Starting with just 19 pupils, the school has grown to become the largest private day school in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead with 55% of children on roll resident within RBWM. It plays a significant part supporting events in the local community and is the RBWM s tenth largest employer with over 160 of the 300 staff living locally. Presently situated at Ray Mill Road East (Senior Boys), off Cannon Lane at Ridgeway (Junior Boys) and at College Avenue (Junior and Senior Girls, Nursery and Sixth Form), the aim of this project is to bring the whole school together onto the Ridgeway site with a nominal capacity of 1190 places.
3 Overview and Vision Our vision for the is to provide: A unified and modern school campus which is fit for purpose A learning environment which will enable our pupils to continue to thrive, succeed and achieve An important educational choice for local parents A sustainable future for Claires Court, its pupils and its employees New sports pitches and facilities offering club access and benefits for the community Preserved areas for wildlife Additional 221 homes for Maidenhead across the project New School Maidenhead Thicket Playing Fields New Homes Cannon Lane Farmers Way
4 New Campus, Ridgeway Site The new campus will sit alongside the existing school facilities at Ridgeway and offer a purpose built environment conducive to high quality education. The whole site masterplan has been fundamental in guiding the new campus design to ensure the best possible offer to the Ridgeway site, the school community and to local residents. Benefits of the New School Modern classrooms and teaching resources with enhanced science, creative arts and drama facilities Buildings that meet current energy grade ratings New roundabout and improved road access to school site Car and coach parking areas with parent drop off zone The retention of Ridgeway House as the Junior Boys school Significant boundary landscaping and planting of trees and hedges An environmental garden and ecological habitat area forming an outside classroom Reduced school related traffic around Maidenhead Protection of views from Cannon Lane
5 New Campus, Ridgeway Site The new sports pitches and outdoor facilities at Claires Court will include: All weather hockey/ football pitches Tennis/netball courts Grass rugby and football pitches Athletics track An outdoor classroom Landscaped social areas and pods Central quadrangle with an amphitheatre style courtyard A cricket pitch A multi-use games area (MUGA) Claires Court are delighted to have teamed up with the Maidenhead Hockey Club to allow the club access to the excellent sports facilities during evenings and weekends. Like the school, we see this as marvellous opportunity to consolidate all our activities into one location. This will ensure our future and enable the club to grow whilst continuing to provide a range of opportunities for adults and young people to participate in and enjoy hockey to the full Maidenhead Hockey Club The school will continue to seek other community groups and sports teams with an interest in sharing the new facilities. Environment and Sustainability Consolidation of staff, pupils and school resources will create a more efficient environment. There will be a greatly reduced demand for energy and maintenance, as two of current sites, with energy ratings of F and G, will be replaced with buildings rated B or higher. The buildings will have a BREEAM (sustainability assessment) target of very good. The move to a single campus will substantially reduce traffic across the centre of Maidenhead at peak and other times. On site there will be ample parking and drop-off/pick-up areas for cars and coaches/buses, as well as two covered cycle storage areas.

The Ridgeway Site Included in the Ridgeway proposal is plans for 157 individually designed new homes, ranging from one bed apartments to five bedroom detached family homes. The dwellings will be set around high quality landscaped areas.
7 Claires Court New Homes Once the proposed school is completed at the Ridgeway site, Claires Court will vacate the College Avenue and Ray Mill Road East sites, and allow Berkeley Homes to develop a range of high quality bespoke homes. Ray Mill Road East Proposal Eleven 4 and 5 bed detached family houses are proposed for the Ray Mill Road East site. All houses would include gardens, garages and additional car parking with an attractive landscaped area within the centre of the site. College Avenue Proposal The College Avenue proposals include 53 homes ranging from 1-bed apartments to 5 bed houses. There will be a large landscaped area at the corner of College Avenue and College Road with the homes forming a crescent around this space. This would improve the street scene and provide an attractive landscaped area. The proposed houses would have garages and driveways, and communal parking areas would be provided for the apartments. The buildings would be two and three storeys in height and there would be vehicle access from College Road and Grassy Lane.
