1 Pennsauken High School SPIRIT WEEK 2016 Theme: Modern-Day Fairytales The following are the rules for Spirit Week There may need to be some changes as Spirit Week approaches and I think of the things I have forgotten. As we embark on some new changes, it is not possible to predict every situation, nor do we wish to create so many rules that we impede the spirit of the competition. For this reason, it is incumbent of all participants to encourage fair competition and, when in doubt, to seek guidance from an advisor before proceeding with potentially unfair behavior. The school will be closed during the weekends. No students will be permitted to be in the building to work on Spirit Week activities..

8 Homecoming Responsibilities Saturday, November 19 th Pageant 6:00 7:30 PM Dance 7:30 10:30 PM The following responsibilities are traditionally assigned to each class in preparation for the Homecoming Dance: Freshman and Sophomore Class The Freshman and Sophomore Class are responsible for the refreshments. This includes ordering soda, cups, napkins, ice, and other light refreshments. The cafeteria staff will need to be contacted to arrange for access to the ice machine. The members of the class will work the refreshment area and clean up at the completion of the dance. The class is not responsible for the cost of the items. Student Government will reimburse the class within reasonable limits. The classes are also responsible for management of the coatroom. This includes implementing a ticket system and staffing the room during the beginning and end of the dance. Junior Class The Junior Class is responsible for the decorations and clean-up of the dance. Coordinate with the Student Government advisor since we usually order balloons for the pageant and dance. Other arrangements such as lights, table covers, and similar decorations are up to the class. Student Government will reimburse the cost of these items within reasonable limits. Senior Class The Senior Class is responsible for ticket sales and collection for both the pageant and the dance. Tickets must be designed (sample is available) and must include the school rules either on the ticket or an additional handout. Tickets for the dance must be purchased in advance during lunches. Pageant tickets are sold at the door. Pageant/dance tickets are sold together and have been $10 in the past. Tickets for the pageant only can be sold at the door for $7. These tickets should be a different color than those for the dance. Class members are responsible for the sale of tickets during lunches and for the sale and collection of tickets on the night of the event. Student Government The Student Government is responsible for the decorations and management of the pageant. This includes decorations for the event. Appropriate personnel must be contacted for risers, podiums, sound, lights, videotaping, music, and other necessary services. A Master of Ceremonies must be contacted. The student government will also arrange for chaperones and security for both the pageant and dance. Because of changes to the pageant this year, additional staff has agreed to assist. Student Government and these additional staff members will coordinate the judges, scoring, and overall direction of the show. All class advisors are reminded that their presence is expected at the event and must assist in the overall supervision of activities. This includes supervision of the audience throughout the pageant and dance as well as at dismissal.
