1 INSOMNIA 2016 FAQ What is INSOMNIA? INSOMNIA is an all-night event hosted by Central Church that celebrates friends and fun in a way that is specifically designed for middle school kids. The night begins with an hour-long friendship rally with great music, video, games, and a short message on the importance of building solid friendships. Then, students and leaders are transported by bus to three different destinations throughout the remainder of the night. Students will experience Adventuredome, Gravady Trampoline Park and each student may also choose Paintball or Laser Tag. When did the INSOMNIA event begin? What is the purpose of INSOMNIA? Is there anything new to this event for 2016? INSOMNIA 2016 will be our 10 th year! Central Church s Middle-School Student Ministry (called FUSE) began doing this all-night event in 2006 as a fun way for middle school students to build friendships in a safe, positive and wholesome environment. From , the event was called KINDsomnia in collaboration with the Josh Stevens Foundation. In 2016, INSOMNIA is going back to it s original name with one new twist. For the first time in the history of INSOMNIA, we re collaborating with other Vegas student ministries to produce this event and open it up to more students. Our goal with INSOMNIA these past 10 years has always been and remains, to create a safe, wholesome and fun event designed specifically for middle school students to strengthen their friendships! What s the cost/date/time/location? The price of INSOMNIA is $59. This event will be held Saturday April 23 rd - Sunday April 24 th. Check-in will begin at 6:00pm at Central Church-Henderson campus (1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson NV 89011). When INSOMNIA is over, where and when should I plan to pick my student up? This event ends on Sunday, April 24 th between 5:30-6:00am. Buses will drop students off at Entry 2 of Central Church- Henderson Campus. You will be notified by for the specific pick-up time of your student based on his/her experience. Please arrive on time to help this process go smoothly.

2 As a parent/guardian, how can I gather the event information needed so that my child has a great experience at INSOMNIA 2016? On Wednesday evening, April 20 th, there will be an INSOMNIA PARENT MEETING at Central Church beginning at 6:30pm. This meeting will last one hour and take place in the Rotunda on the Henderson Campus. At this meeting, we will walk parents/guardians through the INSOMNIA event details and have time for Q & A. This meeting is optional for parents. How do I ensure the safety of my child? Every minute of INSOMNIA, from check-in and departure to the various late-night activities, will be carefully supervised. A group of fully committed staff members and dozens of adult and parent volunteers from various valley churches will be present. All of these adults have a vested interest in the safety of each student attending. Our adult leader to student ratio is 1:10. All leaders volunteering throughout the night will have a background check completed. Every participant, student and leader, will receive a special INSOMNIA t-shirt that will be worn the night of the event to be easily identified. What does my $59 pay for? Your $59 will cover the costs of transportation, an INSOMNIA t-shirt and the price of admission to the various destinations throughout the night. Each student may choose his/her experience. Paintball Experience Paintball Adventuredome Gravady Friendship Rally Laser Tag Experience Laser Laser Tag Adventuredome Gravady Friendship Rally Scholarships are not available for this event. The $59 registration fee must be paid at the time of registration. What should my child bring? Because INSOMNIA is only a one-night event, less is more when it comes to packing. When packing, keep in mind that no belongings can be left on the bus while visiting venues. We encourage students to bring anything that they may need to stay up for the night s activities, such as snacks and drinks. It is also important

3 to bring any medicine that might be needed throughout the night, such as inhalers and other medications. These may be checked in with a student s leader to insure proper distribution. Due to the nature of the activities throughout the night, it is important that all students wear socks and close-toed shoes. Because of safety considerations, we ask that students do not bring paintball equipment. Students may bring their cell phones but we are not liable for lost/broken phones, or any other items that students bring to the event. Food will not be provided during the night so it is recommended that students bring some extra cash with them for snacks and drinks that will be available at the various locations throughout the night. How do I ensure my student will be on the same bus as his/her friends? Students are encouraged to register together and as soon as possible. If you are a last minute registrant, your choice will be limited. During online registration, you will be able to select your bus number. If your student desires to be on the same bus as a friend, make sure to communicate which bus you selected. Buses are filled up on a first come, first serve basis. Once that bus is filled you may choose another bus within the same site rotation to ensure your student will be with their friend throughout the night. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the size of this event, there will be no switching buses after your online registration is complete. What happens if my student gets hurt/injured at this event? At each venue site, there will be a site coordinator that will handle all injuries. In case of injury, the site coordinator will contact the parent/guardian of the student as well as seek medical attention if needed. Each site coordinator will have ready access to your child s personal information that you provide to us during registration. Will my student be given energy drinks throughout the night? Though some students do come to INSOMNIA with energy drinks, the INSOMNIA team will not provide them. Water, soda and other drinks will be available for purchase at the venues throughout the night.

4 As a parent, how can I get involved with INSOMNIA? We are always in need of extra helping hands! If you are interested in helping out with check-in or at one of our venues throughout the night, please contact us at Can my child come for just a portion of the night? No. If your student registers for this event, please understand it is an all-night event. For the safety of our students, we cannot have parents coming to pick their child up in the middle of the night. However, if your child becomes ill at some point during the night, he/she can tell their bus leader and our team will call you to make special pick-up arrangements. In 2015, due to inclement weather, a portion of this event was canceled. This was the first time in the nine-year history of this event that we ve had to cancel any part of the evening. What plans are in place for INSOMNIA 2016 if we encounter unsafe weather conditions? We ve changed our venue choices this year so that all of our venues are indoors, with the exception of paintball. If your child chooses the Laser Tag Option of INSOMNIA they will be indoors the entire night. If your child chooses the Paintball Option they will have one venue (Paintball) that is primarily outside. In 2015, extended/hard rain and strong winds affected the event from the start of our registration process. This year, if inclement weather is forecasted we will move the registration process indoors. Throughout the evening we will monitor the weather closely. The safety and health of our students/leaders is THE priority in all decisions throughout the INSOMNIA evening. We reserve the right to make any and all decisions concerning cancellation of this event due to inclement weather or any other issues that could arise whereby the safety of students is in question. We will make our best effort to provide your child with a complete experience including all of the advertised activities. If any part or all of the activities have to be cancelled due to inclement weather, or otherwise, there will be no refunds. Who should I contact if I still have questions? Please us at with any questions.
