LEVEL 2 AWARD IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Laithwaite s Scholarships Three travel grants of 700 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region are awarded to the candidates who achieved outstanding marks in examination and submitted the strongest essay applications for this prize. The prize is available for a candidate from each of the following countries the UK, the USA and Australia. LEVEL 2 AWARD IN SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Worshipful Company of Distillers Award A travel grant of 500 to study a spirit producing region is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. Delamain Cognac Prize A study visit to Cognac with Delamain Cognac is awarded to a high achieving Level 2 Award in Spirits candidate from the UK wine trade. The Incorporation of Coopers Earl of Wessex Scholarship A study visit to a cooperage and a whisky blending session in Glasgow is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. LEVEL 3 AWARD IN SAKE SCHOLARSHIP The IWC Sake Award The student who achieved top marks in the WSET Level 3 Sake course will be invited to join the World s elite Sake judges to judge Sake at the IWC in 2017 and be presented with the IWC Sake Trophy. LEVEL 3 AWARD IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Bunch Award Six cases of fine wine, one from each Bunch member, are awarded to an outstanding candidate, ideally employed in Media and/or PR. The Barry Burton Memorial Prize A HK$10,000 grant to be used for approved further wine studies or as a travel grant to study a wine producing region, an engraved decanter and a magnum of wine from the Barry Burton collection are awarded to a candidate from Hong Kong who achieved outstanding marks in examination and submitted the strongest essay application for this prize. The winner will also be invited to the annual dinner of the Hong Kong Wine Society, where they will give a short speech. Decanter Asia Wine Award Scholarships Three educational scholarships of 3,000 each for use towards WSET Level 4 Diploma course fees, are awarded to outstanding candidates from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Japan. Wine Australia Scholarships A trip to study a wine producing region in Australia is awarded to two outstanding candidates, one from mainland China and one from North America, who are working in the wine and spirit trade.

2 Les Grands Chais de France Scholarship A two-day trip to study Bordeaux as a guest of Les Grands Chais de France is awarded to an outstanding candidate who works in the UK wine and spirit trade. Outstanding candidates from the UK are invited to a viva voce exam for the following scholarships and prizes. The Michael Cox Vintners Award The Patrick Sandeman Vintners Award The John Avery Vintners Award The Rhône Prize A silver-plated wine cooler, engraved trophy and case of Rhône wines, selected by Hallgarten Wines, is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. The Champagne Academy Scholarship A place on the Champagne Academy study course and an invitation to join the Academy is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino Scholarship One year's Honorary Membership of the Gran Orden de Caballeros and a study trip to Spain, as a guest of the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino in association with Wines from Spain, is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. Decanter Prizes A one year subscription to Decanter magazine and two tickets to the Decanter Fine Wine Encounter are awarded to two outstanding candidates from the UK who are not in the wine and spirit trade Porter & Laker Prize An educational scholarship of 850 towards WSET Level 4 Diploma course fees is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK wine and spirit trade. The winner s company is also awarded 350 towards an annual Corporate Partnership with The Benevolent the Drinks Industry Charity. The Oddbins Scholarship A travel grant of 1,000 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded to an outstanding candidate from the UK who is not in the trade. The Julian Brind Scholarship A travel grant of 1,000 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded to an outstanding UK candidate. This award is sponsored by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN WINES & SPIRITS SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES The Peter Hampson Memorial Scholarship A travel grant of 850 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded to a candidate with outstanding marks in the Diploma Unit 2 Wine production exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Marks and Spencer Scholarship A place on a one week Viticulture or Vinification course at Plumpton College is awarded to a candidate from the

3 UK with outstanding results in the Diploma Unit 2 Wine production exam. The Worshipful Company of Distillers Scholarship A travel grant of 1,000 to study distilleries within the UK is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 4 - Spirits of the world exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Moët & Chandon Scholarship A study visit to Maison Moët & Chandon and Champagne is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 5 - Sparkling wines of the world exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The visit will be part of a group experience. The Lustau Sherry Trophy A silver copita and study visit to Jerez as a guest of Emilio Lustau SA is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 6 Fortified wine exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Graham s Port Scholarship A study visit of two-to-three days to the Douro Valley is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 6 Fortified wine exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The McNie Tasting Trophy A silver-plated wine cooler and engraved glass ice bucket is presented to the candidate submitting an outstanding Unit 3 Light wines of the world tasting paper. The Wines of Portugal Scholarship A study visit to Portugal is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Sogrape Vinhos Scholarship A study visit to the four classical regions of Portugal is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 3 Light Wines of the World exam who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Royal Tokaji Mad Scholarship A study visit of two days to Tokaj, is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam who works in the wine and spirit trade. The Freixenet Scholarship A study visit to several Spanish wine regions as guest of Freixenet UK and the Ferrer Family Wineries is awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 3 from the UK wine and spirit trade. The Louis Jadot Burgundy Scholarship A study trip to Burgundy and a decanter are awarded to a candidate with outstanding results in the Unit 3 Light wines of the world exam and who is employed in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Alsace Crus Terroirs Scholarship A study visit to Alsace as a guest of the Association of Alsace Cru Terroirs and associate members is awarded to an outstanding graduate from the UK wine and spirit trade. Wine Communicators of Australia One year of free membership is awarded to every Australian Diploma graduate. The United Kingdom Vineyards Association Prize A programme of events throughout the vineyard year and a mixed case of award winning UK wines are awarded to an outstanding graduate from the UK. Hors Concours A case of wine is awarded to an outstanding non-trade graduate by the Worshipful Company of Vintners.

4 Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) Scholarship A study trip and work experience with RNDC is awarded to an outstanding graduate from the USA, who works in the restaurant sector. Napa Valley Vintners Scholarship Attendance at one of Napa Valley Vintners 3-day professional trade education programmes is awarded to an outstanding graduate who is employed in the wine and spirit industry in either North America, China, Japan or the UK. Fine Wine Partners (FWP) Scholarship An AU$1,000 grant towards approved further wine studies, a AU$1,000 cellar specially selected from the FWP portfolio of fine wines and an engraved Spiegelau Decanter is awarded to an outstanding graduate from Australia, who works in the wine and spirit trade. The Conviviality Scholarship A ten day work-experience scholarship with Conviviality PLC is awarded to an outstanding UK graduate who is looking to move into a career in the wine and spirit trade. The ProWein Scholarship A four-day trip to Düsseldorf to attend ProWein with the German Wine Institute is awarded to two outstanding wine and spirit trade graduates from either Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, the UK or the USA. Wines of Germany Scholarships A study trip to Germany as a guest of Wines of Germany is awarded to two outstanding graduates who work in the wine and spirit trade. This is awarded to a graduate from the UK and a graduate from another market. Concha y Toro Scholarship A study trip to Chile as a guest of Concha y Toro is awarded to a high achieving graduate who is working in the wine trade in China. The Hardy s Vintage Scholarship A ten day study trip to Australia during the 2017 vintage, as a guest of Accolade Wines Ltd, is awarded to an outstanding graduate who is working in the UK wine and spirit trade. The Yvonne May Wine Australia Scholarship A study trip to Australia is awarded to an outstanding graduate who works in the wine and spirit trade in the UK or Europe. Wine Australia Scholarship, Asia Pacific A study trip to Australia is awarded to an outstanding graduate who works in the wine and spirit trade from either Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore. The Wine Trade Club Paten Scholarship A bourse de voyage of 1500 to visit a wine/spirit producing region(s) of the winners choice is awarded to an outstanding graduate from the UK. Wines from Spain Scholarship An educational scholarship of 4,000 towards study on the Master of Wine study course is awarded to an outstanding graduate from the UK. This award is sponsored by Wines from Spain in association with The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino. The Derouet Jameson Award An educational scholarship of 4,500 for the cost of the Master of Wine study course is awarded to two outstanding and deserving graduates from the UK wine and spirit trade.

5 The HKIWSC Scholarship A travel grant of 3,000 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region and an engraved trophy are awarded to the highest-achieving graduate from Asia. The Vintners Scholarship A travel grant of 3000 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region is awarded by the Worshipful Company of Vintners to the graduate from the UK wine and spirit trade with the highest overall mark. The Vintners Cup A silver trophy and engraved decanter is awarded to the graduate who achieved the highest aggregate mark across all six units of the Diploma programme. If the candidate has not also received the Vintners Scholarship a travel grant of 3000 to study a wine and/or spirit producing region is also awarded. This award is sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Vintners.
