1 Camp Philosophy The mission of the Geneva Park District is to provide residents of all ages in the community with recreational programs, facilities and open space that enhances their quality of life. The focus of our summer camps is to provide opportunities to participants, that allows personal growth by developing a positive self image, as well as treating others with respect. Additionally, participants learn to appreciate diversity, develop leadership and other skills through a variety of outdoor activities and experiences. All of the camps incorporate the Character Counts philosophy and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. It is the primary goal of the Geneva Park District to make sure camp is a fun and enjoyable environment for each participant. The experiences and bonds that are formed at camp will last them a lifetime. Counselor in Training (CIT Program) Ages This hands-on program will give you the skills needed to be an effective leader when working with children. Participants work directly with camp staff, who will serve as their mentors throughout the program. Please note: this popular program has a limited number of spaces, not all that apply will be accepted. Please fill out an application, once that is reviewed you will be interviewed. Please provide three references (not people in their family, but those who know them well, such as teaches, coaches, activity leaders, etc) who will be asked to answer some questions. In order to participate in the program, the training days must be attended prior to being placed at a camp. Camp requests are not taken and are based on age and ability.
