3 METRIC CONVERSION AMENDMENT ACT HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: Amends RSA 2000 ca-9 1 The Agricultural and Recreational Land Ownership Act is amended in section 3 by striking out 20 acres and substituting 8 hectares. RSA 1980 c12(supp) s1(1) Amends RSA 2000 cc-4 2 The Cemetery Companies Act is amended in sections 12 and 14 by striking out 100 superficial square feet and substituting 10 superficial square metres. RSA 1980 c12(supp) s1(7) Amends RSA 2000 cf-30 3 The Fur Farms Act is amended in section 10(3) by striking out 50 feet and substituting 15 metres. RSA 1980 c12(supp) s1(10) 4 Repealed 2007 c19 s3. Amends RSA 2000 cl-13 5 The Line Fence Act is amended in section 1 (a) by striking out 2 rods and substituting 10 metres, (b) by striking out 2 inches and substituting 5 centimetres, (c) by striking out 6 feet and substituting 2 metres. 4 Section 6 METRIC CONVERSION AMENDMENT ACT RSA 2000 Amends RSA 2000 cp-40 6 The Public Lands Act is amended (a) in section 85(1) (i) in clause (a) by striking out 25 acres and substituting 11 hectares, (ii) in clause (b) by striking out 50 and not less than 25 acres and substituting 21 and not less than 11 hectares, (iii) in clause (c) by striking out 50 acres and substituting 21 hectares, (b) by repealing section 86(1) and substituting the following: 86(1) A purchaser of a homestead sale of land not exceeding one quarter-section shall break and seed to crop not less than the following areas in each year: Break Seed to Crop First year 4 hectares nil hectare 2nd year 4 hectares 4 hectares 3rd year 4 hectares 8 hectares 4th year 4 hectares 12 hectares 5th year 16 hectares 6th year 16 hectares 7th year 4 hectares 16 hectares 8th year 4 hectares 20 hectares 9th year 24 hectares Each year thereafter 24 hectares (c) in section 88 (i) in clause (a) by striking out 25 acres and substituting 11 hectares, (ii) in clause (b) by striking out 50 and not less than 25 acres and substituting 21 and not less than 11 hectares, (iii) in clause (c) by striking out 100 but more than 50 acres and substituting 41 but more than 21 hectares, (iv) in clause (d) by striking out 100 acres and substituting 41 hectares, 2

RSA 1980 c12(supp) s1(19) Amends RSA 2000 cr-15 7 The Religious Societies Land Act is amended in section 3(4) by striking out 320 acres and substituting 130 hectares. RSA 1980 c12(supp) s1(20) Amends RSA 2000 cw-9 8 The Wilderness Areas, Ecological Reserves, Natural Areas and Heritage Rangelands Act is amended (a) in the Schedule - Ghost River Wilderness Area by striking out fifty-nine and fourteen hundredths (59.14) square miles and substituting 153 square kilometres, (b) in the Schedule - Siffleur Wilderness Area by striking out one hundred and fifty-nine and thirteen hundredths (159.13) square miles and substituting 412 square kilometres, (c) in the Schedule - White Goat Wilderness Area (i) by striking out three hundred (300) yards and substituting 274 metres, (ii) by striking out four hundred (400) yards and substituting 365 metres, (iii) by striking out one (1) mile and substituting 1.6 kilometres, (iv) by striking out one hundred and seventy-one and sixty-five hundredths (171.65) square miles and substituting 445 square kilometres. RSA 2000 c18(supp) s8;2006 c32 s24 Amends RSA 2000 cw-11 9 The Willmore Wilderness Park Act is amended in the Schedule by striking out one thousand seven hundred and seventy-four and eight tenths (1774.8) square miles and substituting 4597 square kilometres.
