We feel it is important to keep you updated with the current events. Please place this letter in a safe, obvious place so you can check dates. Thank you. 2 Page 2 of 5 SENIOR CLEARANCE CARDS Clearance cards will be distributed Tuesday, May 22th. If all fees/dues are up to date, there will not be a problem on checkout day. Those who owe fees can pay them in the Treasurer s Office from now through May 31st. Students will not be permitted to checkout until all fees are paid, including parking tickets, Class Dues and Media Center fines. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER April 27th - PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE IN CASH, MONEY ORDER OR CERTIFIED CHECK. CLASS DUES REMINDER Seniors are reminded that their Class Dues obligation should be paid prior to Senior Checkout Day. Senior Class Dues are $ Payment may be made in the unit office to Ms. Wozniak (A-L) or Ms. Dolinak (M-Z). Checks should be made payable to Parma Senior High School. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER April 27th. GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS Josten s will be distributing Graduation Announcements during lunch periods. The remaining balance must be paid at that time. There will be a few extra announcements available that will be sold in the unit office. Pick up date is April 15th. SENIOR PROM The 2012 Senior Prom will be held at St. Josephat Hall on Friday, May 25, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale on April 23rd thru May 4th at the cost of $ per couple ($50.00 per person). For planning needs, tickets must be purchased by May 4th. Tickets will be sold in the Renaissance after school. Vocational sign-in students, Sr. Project and PSEO students need to see Mrs. Young or Mr. Hanchuk in the Renaissance Lounge. *Student must have a picture I.D. to purchase ticket(s). Each student must have a ticket to attend the prom. A student is not permitted to sell his/her ticket(s) to another student. All students are registered as the tickets are purchased. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Attendance at school on Friday, May 25th is mandatory. Students must attend classes 1º through 4º. If a student is leaving after 4 th period, a parent or guardian must call the attendance office excusing their student after 4 º period. PRIOR TO PURCHASING YOUR PROM TICKETS, A BEHAVIORAL CONTRACT NEEDS TO BE SIGNED AND RETURNED FOR YOU AND YOUR GUEST. ABSOLUTELY NO TICKET SALES WILL BE MADE AFTER MAY 4th. ALSO PLEASE KNOW THAT SENIORS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE PROM TICKETS OR WALK AT COMMENCEMENT UNLESS SENIOR CLASS DUES AND SCHOOL FEES AND FINES ARE PAID. SPECIAL NOTE - SENIOR PROM It is important that everyone understand that it is a policy of St. Josephat Hall that ALL prom participants will remain in the prom area. Anyone who leaves the premises will be considered leaving the prom and WILL NOT BE ALLOWED REENTRY. All possessions you may need during the dinner and dance (purses, cameras, etc.) will have to be brought with you upon your arrival. St. Joshephat Hall is a smoke-free building; therefore, there will be no smoking at the prom. Appropriate formal attire will be required. Men are expected to wear their shirts throughout the evening. Student behavior will be governed by the school rules that apply to all school-sponsored events. Participation in commencement may be revoked due to misbehavior at the prom. Inappropriate behavior and Dancing (Bumping and Grinding) will result in an early dismissal from the Prom with the calling of parents to pick up student(s) SENIOR CLASS MEETING On May 25th (third period, following attendance), there will be a senior class meeting and emergency care program held in the auditorium. ALL SENIORS MUST ATTEND. Morning vocational students should inform their teachers of this meeting.

3 Page 3 of 5 CAP AND GOWN PICK UP Caps and gowns will be announced at a later date. Graduates may pick them up between 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the Renaissance Lounge. If you have not paid for your cap and gown, the balance must be paid in full in May 10th. RECOGNITION DAY On Wednesday, May 23th, Recognition Day, members of the senior class will be recognized for outstanding achievement. This will begin at 7:00 pm., in the Auditorium and should last for about an hour. PARENTS ARE WELCOME. AFTER PROM This year After Prom is scheduled to be held at the Omni Fitness Club from midnight to 3:00 a.m., immediately following the Prom. The Omni Fitness Club is located at 6600 West 130 th Street Middleburg Heights, Ohio We are going to have food, prizes, the use of all that the Omni facility offers including fun and games. Every senior is encouraged to attend this safe, adult chaperoned, alcohol-free event, even if you don t go to prom. We are hoping to keep the price of the tickets for After Prom to only $15.00 each. Each senior attending After Prom will receive a gift. Parental volunteers are needed towards appetizers, baked goods, and / or water for the After Prom event. After Prom is funded soley on donations from the community and the fundraising efforts of the committee. We are still taking donations in any amount to After Prom to help offset the costs. Checks should be made payable to: PSH After Prom and either mailed to: 6285 W. 54 th St., Parma, Oh,44129 or put in the After Prom mail box in the main office. Please ask your senior for information on any future fundraising events. All parents are invited to help with After Prom, our next meetings are: February 2 nd & 16 th, March 1 st & 15 th & 29 th, April 19 th, May 3 rd &10 th &17 th. Our goal is to provide a fun and safe evening for our children following prom. CEDAR POINT Seniors will be going to Cedar Point on Sunday, May 27th, or Monday, May 28th, Parma Senior High is not sponsoring this event and will not be providing transportation to the park. Parma Senior High chaperones will not be in attendance. We are, however, providing the means for students to obtain discount tickets in advance. Tickets will be sold in the Renaissance Lounge at the same times of prom tickets with the price to be determined. SENIOR FINAL EXAMS Senior final exams will be on Tuesday, May 29th, Wednesday, May 30th, and the make-up day, Thursday, May 31 st, 1º. SENIOR CLEARANCE All seniors must complete a sign-out card prior to checkout. Each classroom teacher on your second semester schedule verifying that all books have been returned must sign cards. No senior will be permitted to checkout until each teacher has signed off. These cards must be brought to senior checkout on Thursday, May 31st. SENIOR CHECKOUT All fees, fines and class dues must be paid on or before Thursday, May 31st. Seniors will checkout in the Renaissance Lounge on this day. Before the seniors can be formally checked out by their counselors, all fees, dues and other obligations must be paid. The senior sign-out cards, must have the signatures of all their classroom teachers, the librarian, secretary, treasurer and senior class advisors before the final sign out by the counselor. It will be to the senior s advantage that all obligations are taken care of before May 31st. At this time, all participating graduating seniors will receive their two (2) tickets for commencement and their seating assignment. ALL SENIORS MUST CHECKOUT ON THURSDAY, May 31st. STUDENTS, PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING YOUR SIGN OUT CARD ON CHECKOUT DAY.

All seniors must plan in advance to attend checkout when assigned and, if necessary should change their work schedules. SENIOR BREAKFAST The senior class is sponsoring a senior breakfast in the cafeteria on June 1st, at 8:30 a.m. This will be the last informal get-together for all graduates of the class of 12. COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL Practice for Commencement Exercises will be held on Friday, June 1st, 2011, at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium. During this time any other last minute details regarding any class business will be covered. Detailed information concerning commencement procedures will be issued to the seniors at this time. ALL SENIORS PARTICIPATING IN COMMENCEMENT ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING AND REHEARSAL AND BRING THEIR SEATING ASSIGNMENT WITH THEM. COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES Commencement will be held on Sunday, JUNE 3rd, AT 6:30 P.M. at the Wolstein Center. All students are required to meet in the cafeteria at Parma Senior High at 4:30 PM. Attendance and will be taken and students will be checked to make sure they are in proper attire. All seniors will be transported by bus to the Wolstein Center. All students must report to Parma Senior High and ride the bus in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Transportation will not be provided back to Parma Senior High. Five tickets will be issued to each graduating senior and will be distributed as a part of senior checkout on Thursday, May 31st. Anyone who does not need all 5 tickets, please return them to Dr. Coffman s office so they may be reassigned. Each graduate will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a cost of $5.00 each on May 31st, immediately at checkout. Families will be able to purchase up to ten additional tickets for a total of fifteen tickets. NO ONE, INCLUDING CHILDREN AND INFANTS, WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET. For parents, the doors will be open at 5:30 p.m. for seating. This year, diplomas will be distributed after commencement in a designated area. Graduates will need to show either a valid driver s license or Parma High ID card to obtain their diploma. If a student attends commencement, they must pick up their diploma that night. CLASS OF 2012 ACTIVITIES Page 5 of 5

5 PARKING Parking is available at the Wolstein Center for $6 or at any other surrounding lots for the posted amount. DRESS Parents are urged to see that the graduates dress in an appropriate fashion for the commencement exercise. Traditionally, girls wear dresses or skirts and blouses. Boys are asked to wear dress shoes, slacks and shirts. A tie would be nice but is optional. JEANS, TENNIS AND/OR JOGGING SHOES AND SANDALS ARE INAPPROPRIATE AT THIS SPECIAL AND FORMAL OCCASION. COMMENCEMENT PHOTOGRAPHS In order to maintain the dignity of the event, we will not permit spectators to come up to the stage area to take photographs during the commencement ceremony. All seniors will have their pictures professionally taken upon acceptance of their diploma, and these will be made available for purchase. To view Graduation Pictures, please go to JohnMichaelcode:parmaPhotography.com. Parents and family members are asked to refrain from videotaping, as students from the Radio and Television Production class will be videotaping the entire graduation ceremony and making it available for purchase. Details regarding price and delivery time will be forthcoming in a future mailing.
