1 2016 Seniors COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION April 2016 Seniors, A short time remains before you walk the stage and move on to the next phase in your lives. I have enjoyed getting to know you and wish you the best for the future. Please stay focused on school for the last quarter and remember that you will always be a Perry Hall Gator! ~ Andrew Last, Principal A Message from your Administrator: Congratulations to the class of 2016, I salute you in accomplishing the first of many goals in your life. As you enter the world of work and college, remember the following advice for success: 1. Manage your time effectively. Schedule time for work and fun to maintain a balance and reach your goal. 2. Write down your plan. Always plan and remember your SMART goals as a guide to see your accomplishments or to change course. 3. Be nice and respectful. You never know who you will meet on the way to the top. Good luck and I know you will make a difference in the world. Ms. Kathleen Setzer, Assistant Principal In this issue... PARENTS AND STUDENTS All Baltimore County policies and procedures are in effect during the school day, on campus, and at all rehearsals, ceremonies, and other events, such as prom. Beginning now, ANY violation of the BCPS Handbook (including SENIOR PRANKS) will jeopardize a senior s opportunity to participate in future senior events which includes the privilege to walk across the stage at Graduation. Any suspension in the 4th quarter will result in exclusion from the senior prom and the senior picnic. Be sure to follow all rules! You know what they are! You are SENIORS! An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. ~ Benjamin Franklin PERRY HALL HIGH SCHOOL 4601 EBENEZER RD BALTIMORE, MD

2 Final Exam Schedule for Seniors Students are required to attend all classes as we have them scheduled. If a late start time or early dismissal is going to force you to miss a class, we would require a note and normal early dismissal procedures must be followed. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Setzer. Also, please remember that failure to take a final exam will result in your grade for that entire class being lowered by one full letter grade. In some cases, this may result in a failing grade which could affect your ability to graduate! Day/Date Period Exams Given Thursday, 5/19... A-Day Periods 2 & 4 Friday, 5/20...B-Day Periods 2 & 4 Monday, 5/23... A-Day Periods 1 & 3 Tuesday, 5/24... B-Day Periods 1 & 3 Wednesday, 5/25... A-Day, Make-Up Exams Thursday, 5/26... 4 Celebration of Senior Successes Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 PM All seniors are invited to join us. Students who are receiving awards and their parent will receive a notification letter ahead of time. We look forward to seeing parents of these award recipients. Award recipients should report to the Old Social Studies Wing next to the auditorium by 5:45 PM wearing caps and gowns, honor cords and other appropriate distinctions to prepare for the line-up (see proper graduation attire). Any student arriving after 6:00 PM will not be able to participate. The seniors will process to the stage and sit on the stage during the assembly. While we encourage everyone to help us honor the award and scholarship recipients, we remind students that we expect civility and respect from all attendees. After the awards celebration in the auditorium, students, parents, and staff will be invited to a social gathering in the cafeteria to continue with the celebration. Light fare will be served. Graduation Rehearsal Friday, May 27 at 7:55 AM After tapping in and going to homeroom for the last time, seniors will report to the auditorium at 7:55 AM for the graduation rehearsal. This rehearsal is mandatory for those that will participate in the graduation ceremony. The Senior Slide-Show will be presented in the auditorium during the graduation rehearsal time-frame. Senior Picnic Friday, May 27 at 11 AM Seniors will be dismissed to the picnic immediately following the graduation rehearsal. Students may go to the parking lot to drop off any personal items. Students must then move directly to the area behind the gym for picnic activities. The student parking lot is off limits" during the picnic. Students leaving the stadium picnic area will not be allowed to return. Once you leave the picnic area, you must leave the parking lot and school grounds. Students may not return to the building after the picnic. Baltimore County Public School policies will be in effect. In the event of inclement weather, the picnic will be held in the gymnasium. Graduation Tickets Distributed during Rehearsal Friday, May 27 ALL FINES AND OBLIGATIONS MUST BE SATISFIED PRIOR TO RECEIVING COMMENCEMENT TICKETS. Due to seating capacity of the Tiger Arena and the size of this year s graduating class, there are a limited number of tickets that are available. Each senior will receive six (6) graduation tickets for guests. These tickets will be distributed at the conclusion of the graduation rehearsal on May 27. LOST OR STOLEN TICKETS CANNOT BE REPLACED. There will be no extra tickets dispensed by the principal. Seniors should check to see if they have all of their tickets before leaving the graduation rehearsal. Any financial obligation to the school during the last four years such as lost books, uniforms, or fundraising money must be met before tickets can be issued. Graduation Thursday, June 2 at 7 PM Seniors must arrive at the Tiger Arena (on Auburn Dr. off of Osler Dr.) by 6 PM. Doors at the Tiger Arena will be open for seating of guests at 6:00 PM and the doors will close at 6:45 PM. Historically, traffic congestion is a problem, so plan to arrive early. Large sections of rows of chairs may not be reserved. All latecomers will be seated in the rear by TU attendants. Anyone who arrives after the processional begins will have to wait in the lobby until the 4

5 graduates are seated before he or she will be admitted. Parents are reminded that all pictures must be taken before students line up for the ceremony. No one will be allowed to approach the stage to take pictures. Boisterous behavior will not be tolerated and will be addressed by the Towson University staff. We ask that everyone observe the formality of the graduation ceremony and not call out, scream, or make unnecessary noises. Graduates and their families would like to hear each graduate's name as the diplomas are awarded. Directions: (From Charles Street at I-695) Take Exit 25 (Charles St.) from the Baltimore Beltway, 695. Proceed 3.1 miles on Charles St. and turn left onto Stevenson Lane. Proceed 0.9 miles on Stevenson Lane and turn left on Osler Drive. Proceed 0.4 miles on Osler Dr. and turn left onto Auburn Drive North. (For GPS, 7800 Osler Drive.) Photographing Graduation In order to preserve the dignity, to respect the rights of others, and to ensure the safety of the graduates as they participate in the ceremony, the Board of Education requests that flash photographs not be taken during the ceremony and that the audience remain seated. As graduates cross the stage, the event will be projected on two screens on each side of the stage for all to see. A color photograph of each senior at the moment his or her diploma is awarded will be available to all graduates. A proof print will be mailed directly to the home with a description of enlargement sizes and prices. Orders are placed directly with the photographer, Lifetouch Events. Finished prints are mailed directly to students homes.
