1 2012 Graduation Information Saturday, June 2, 2012 Reliant Stadium Commencement Start Times: Klein High 9 a.m. Klein Forest Noon Klein Oak 3 p.m. Klein Collins 6 p.m. Parking: Cost: $10 Maps: Parking: Seating: Processional Set-up: Klein High Seniors report at 7:45 a.m. for lineup and final instructions. Please allow ample time for travel and parking. Only Klein seniors will be admitted into the lineup area. Cap and Gown Etiquette The graduation ceremony begins promptly at 9 a.m., Sat. June 2. Seniors must arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. Gentlemen wear white or pastel shirts with ties, conservative trousers, dress shoes and socks (not tennis shoes, sandals or flip flops). Ladies are requested to wear dresses (but conservative slacks are acceptable), shoes that compliment the gown (no tennis shoes or rubber flip flops), and wear collars provided with the gown. If all seniors follow this pattern of dress, the class will look uniform in its caps and gowns, lending the proper dignity to the graduation ceremony. Also: 1. Wear hats wit mortar board flat. 2. Gentlemen will remove mortar board during National Anthem, prayer and pledge. 3. Ladies do not remove caps. 4. No corsages on gowns. 5. Gentlemen must be clean-shaven. 6. Students are not to carry bags, cameras, sunglasses, etc. with them when reporting to line-up. There is no secure place to store them during the ceremony. 7. Cell phones are to be turned off and put away.

2 Guests All guests are welcome at Reliant Stadium. Handicapped accommodations are available, and areas are clearly marked. Processional Information Graduates will arrive at 7:45 a.m. Processional starts promptly at 9 a.m. KISD summer graduation is Saturday, August 25, The ceremony will be held at Champion Forest Baptist Church. Additional information available through the school s counselor s office. Commencement Photographs/Videos Friends and relatives cannot to enter into the area where the graduates are seated in order to take pictures during the graduation ceremony. A photographer will be present to take pictures as you receive your diploma. Additionally, a videotape of the graduation ceremony will be produced for you to purchase. Order envelopes for commencement photographs will be distributed at the graduation rehearsal assembly. Loyd s Photography & Video will be performing this service for Klein High School. Photographs and Videos A professional photographer will provide a reasonably priced picture of the graduates as they receive their diplomas from the principal. Parents and friends are not allowed on the floor of the stadium. The commencement photograph packages are examples of those offered. A video recording of the ceremony will also be available. All orders for pictures and video should be mailed to the company. Klein Oak Only students who have met all graduation requirements will be eligible to participate in the June ceremony. If in doubt, see your counselor. Seniors are to report at 1:45 p.m. to the left of the Amegy Bank entrance of Reliant Stadium for lineup and final instructions. There will be signs posted to direct students to the correct location. ONLY Klein Oak Seniors will be admitted to this area. A teacher will be stationed at the entrance to give instructions. Graduates should not bring anything such as purses, cell phones, or cameras. There is nowhere to leave such items. They will be taken up and will not be given back until after diplomas have been picked up. Graduates arriving late should report to the assistant principal by the registrar in Reliant in order to be seated. Graduates will be seated at the appropriate time. Dress Dress Code must be followed.

4 Girls Wear dresses or nice slacks that compliment the gown. Collars come in the package with the gown; be sure not to lose them. Wear dark shoes. No flip flops or tennis shoes. Boys Wear white or pastel shirt with TIE, conservative dress slacks, dark socks and leather or patent shoes. No jeans, tennis shoes or sandals. Be sure to be clean shaven. No unnatural hair coloring. No facial piercing of any kind. NO CELL PHONES. Wear hats with mortar board flat not tilted to one side or to the rear. Begin with tassel on left side, move to right when told to do so by the Superintendent. Failure to adhere to proper dress standards places you in jeopardy of not taking part in the ceremony. Processional The processional starts promptly at 3 p.m. Commencement Photographs and Videos A professional photographer will provide a reasonably priced picture of the graduates as they receive their diplomas from the principal. The actual diploma will be given to each graduate following graduation. Immediately after the recessional, floor marshals will lead the graduates to where actual diplomas will be distributed. Please note that all diplomas are the same. Seals (Recommended, Distinguished) are reflected on the transcript and not the diploma. Klein Collins Graduates should arrive at Reliant Stadium for line up at 4:45 pm. Check in with your assigned row monitor upon your arrival. The processional will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Handicapped Guests Guests in wheelchairs should enter through the Amegy entrance of Reliant Stadium. A section is reserved on the top level for persons in wheelchairs and their families. Cap and Gown Etiquette The boys are asked to wear light colored shirts with ties, conservative trousers, shoes and socks (not tennis shoes). The girls should wear dresses and shoes that compliment the gown, and wear the collars which are provided (keep in mind you

5 will be standing awhile and walking up and down ramps). If all seniors follow this pattern of dress, the class will look uniform in its caps and gowns, lending the proper dignity to the graduation ceremony. Please observe the following guidelines: 1. Wear cap with mortarboard fl at not tilted. 2. Begin with tassel on left side, move to right when instructed to do so. 3. Boys will remove cap during National Anthem, prayer and pledge; then replace cap and fix tassel; girls do not remove caps. 4. No corsages on gowns. 5. Boys should be clean-shaven. 6. Remove all facial piercings. 7. Do not carry anything (i.e. purses, brushes, cell phones, etc.) with you when reporting to line-up in the Reliant Stadium service level corridor. There will not be a secure area in which to leave items. The summer Graduation Commencement Ceremony will be on August 25th. Detailed additional information will be mailed to all eligible participants.
