1 Set Up Remote Desktop to Access the law school computer network Remote Desktop Server, TimeMatters Program Law school network: File Servers U drive, R drive, TimeMatters Data

2 Connect your laptop to the UMB wireless network eduroam or plug in the Ethernet network cable in your carrel to your laptop when you are in the clinic student practice office. Please note that the other end of this cable is plugged in to the telephone. If you are at home, make sure you are connected to the Internet

3 PC Users need to Download Remote Desktop Profile icon from the following webpage to your home computer: (MAC Users skip to page 12)

4 PC users need to click on Remote Desktop Icon for PC Users and save the downloaded file to your computer

5 The downloaded remote desktop icon will appear in your computer Downloads folder.

6 You may want to copy this icon from your Downloads folder to your computer s desktop screen.

7 Accept the warning message and click on Connect Double click on the remote desktop icon and click on Connect :

8 Choose User another account

9 Enter your computer network login ID and password. For better results, enter your user name in the format of law\clinic.xxx, then click OK Student Name: Doe, John Course: Juvenile Law Room: 373 & Seat: 15b Extension: Voic Code: 3734 Room Code: 3,1,5,4,2 Copy Code: Network ID: CLINIC.L02 Time Matters ID: L02 Password: Jd12345f16! Open (340) and Closed (342) File room code: 1,4,3,2,5 Voic Access: Press message button on phone to access voice mail. Enter voic code to access messages. Outside of the office- dial to access your voic .

10 You can see a computer desktop screen as shown below after logging in. Click on the shortcuts to use the MS Office programs and TimeMatters.

11 When you finish your work, go to Start and log off:

12 MAC users need to locate the remote desktop application as shown below on your computer using Finder and click on it.

13 Enter the following computer name during the set up process: Clinic-TS.law.umaryland.edu or the IP address of the remote desktop server if the computer name cannot be recognized: and then click on Connect

14 When prompted, enter the law school computer login in the format showed as below(replace the CLINIC.A01 with your network login ID and the password with your own password received on the information card): ID: Law\CLINIC.A01 Password: ********** Domain: Law You may see the IP address( xx.xx) of the remote desktop server entered into the Domain box. Please replace it with law

15 Click on Connect to continue if you see this warning message

16 There is an alternative application that can be downloaded from Apple App Store for free. MAC users can use it to access Microsoft Windows Server

17 To download and install this program go to the App Store from your computer

18 In the App Store, type RDP in the search bar then press enter. Then locate the Microsoft Remote Desktop icon.

19 Click the button Free or Get to install it

20 The program is ready to be installed

21 App Store may ask you to enter your Apple ID and password

22 You will see this screen when the program is successfully installed. Close this screen.

23 Click the Launch Pad at the bottom of your screen and then click on the red icon Microsoft Desktop

24 Ignore this message and click close

25 Click on the plus sign + to configure the remote desktop

26 Provide a Connection Name. PC name can be either clinic-ts.law.umaryland.edu or the IP address: Enter your law school credentials (network user name in the format of LAW\CLINIC. X00 and password on the information card obtained at the clinic orientation), and the close this page

27 Click on the saved connection under My Desktop to connect the remote desktop server

28 Click Continue to proceed

29 You are now logged in to the remote desktop server
