4 Belt Mounting Systems We utilize a number of belt mounting systems on our products to secure them to a belt. These belt mounting systems are used on products such as defense spray, magazine, and baton carriers. Some of the mounting systems were designed for a specific product, where others are used with multiple items. Therefore it is important to understand that: NOT ALL MOUNTING SYSTEMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR ALL PRODUCTS. 5 Belt Mounting Systems FOLDED SECURITY SNAP LOOP On open top versions of some carriers, the leather piece that usually serves as the top flap for covered carriers is folded to the back to create a solid belt loop top and is attached at the bottom with a security snap. FOLDED STITCH LOOP On open top versions of some carriers, the leather piece that usually serves as the top flap for covered carriers is folded to the back to create a solid belt loop top and is attached at the bottom with stitching. DOUBLE STITCHED LOOP A strap of leather is stitched at each end to the body of the carrier to provide a very strong loop that will not release under pressure. STITCHED SECURITY SNAP LOOP A strap of leather is stitched to the top end and fastened with a security snap to the bottom end of the carrier. The security snap is designed to only release by being pulled up from the bottom. This feature enables the carrier to remain securely fastened to a belt even if pressure is applied by pulling or yanking on the carrier, yet at the same time allows the user to easily attach and remove the carrier through proper operation of the security snap. DOUBLE STITCHED FLAP LOOP A long leather strap is stitched in two places to the body of the carrier to form a belt loop and also folds over the top of the carrier to double as the snap flap. This creates a very strong loop that will not release under pressure. FOLDED, STITCHED, AND RIVETED LOOP This loop used on baton carriers is created by folding the solid leather body piece down the back of the carrier and stitching the bottom end of the loop. This loop is then made extremely secure by the addition of a rivet at the bottom of the loop. SPRING CLIP A metal spring clip is securely attached to the back of the carrier and provides a sturdy and quick on/off attachment. The belt clip fits belts up to 1-3/4 inch wide. 65 /90 BELT SLIDE (SL65/90) This belt slide is designed to fit up to 2-1/4 inch belts and is made of stitched reinforced leather. It allows carriers to be mounted at 65 or 90 degree angle and is interchangeable for left or right cant. The carrier simply attaches to the belt slide using screws. 25 BELT SLIDE (SL25) This belt slide can be made to fit 1-3/4 inch or 2-1/4 inch belts. Another reinforced leather attachment that allows carriers to be mounted at a 25 degree angle, either right or left cant. 4

6 BELTS All of our belts are made from the highest grade, vegetable tanned leather measuring from 8 oz up thru 11 oz, depending on the model. Our gun belts have a lining consisting of an additional 4 oz of leather for added stability while supporting the weight of a holster, handgun, and other accessories. The gun belts are stitched around the edge to add strength and style. They are a great option for anyone looking for a secure, comfortable, and good looking belt that will last for years. The Harness Button (HB) System The HB system is an innovative fastening system designed to provide better security than the old Sam Brown while at the same time providing quick and easy operation. The HB system has proved to be very strong, durable and versatile. Slide tip through fixed keeper. 2. Drop holes over harness buttons. 3. Move sliding keeper against back plate to ensure secure closure. Hidden Hardware fastening is just as easy (Harness buttons are concealed by sliding keeper): 1. Slide tip through fixed keeper. 2. Drop holes over harness buttons. 3. Move sliding keeper over harness buttons to ensure secure closure. 5

7 Belt Sizing The best way to determine the correct length of belt to order is to take a tape measure and wrap it around your pants at the waist where the belt loops are located. This will typically not be the waist size of your pants; it will generally be an inch or two larger. If the length is between inches, just use the higher number. This length will be used to size your belt at the center hole and will allow for adjustments 2 inches larger or smaller. Another way to determine correct size is to just measure a belt you are currently using. Measure from where the buckle hooks with the free end of the belt when buckled, to the hole it is being fastened to when you are wearing it. When determining sizes for duty belts, you will need to measure over an under belt to get the correct size, as this is how you will be wearing the belt. This will generally add 2 inches to the size of the belt. So, if you are ordering an under belt and a duty belt, it is not uncommon for the under belt size to be two inches larger than the waist size of your pants and the duty belt size to be two inches larger than that. *Please Note: Prices shown are for belt sizes 44 inches and less. There is an extra charge for belt sizes over 44 inches. Contact us for pricing. Belt Loops Are you wondering if the belt you want to purchase will fit through your belt loops? If you are looking at one of our wider belts that you want to wear inside the belt loops, measure the inside of a belt loop on your pants to see what width of belt will slide through. Be aware that belts have a thickness to them so allow adequate space to accommodate that thickness, especially with the lined belts. Many people want a wider belt for added support and we want to be sure that the belt you purchase fits the belt loops on the pants you intend to wear it with. 6

12 BELT KEEPERS Our belt keepers are designed to provide a secure and stable support for duty belts. These keepers are made of thick 9 oz leather and are a full 1 inch wide to minimize stretching. We also offer a heavy duty, hidden hardware belt keeper. This keeper utilizes 4-1/2 oz leather folded and stitched to provide a full 9 oz thick keeper that is incredibly strong. We fold the leather in the middle which becomes the tip of the keeper. This ensures that the tip will not curl or come apart with use. Don t be fooled by the imitations that don t retain the cuffs properly. 16 Design Philosophy AwlWorks line of products consists of original and unique designs for the law enforcement professional and anyone looking for quality leather gear. We don t skimp on the materials we use to create our products, making them some of the most durable leather gear available on the market today. Along with durability, we stress the importance of appearance and take care to incorporate attention to detail in all of our designs. Many of the design philosophies found here originated with Mountain Leatherworks and have given us a solid foundation to build and improve upon. Belts All of our belts are made from the highest grade, vegetable tanned leather measuring 8-11 oz, depending on the model. Our heavier belts have an additional 4 oz lining leather added to help make them stable enough to carry the weight of a holster and handgun. We line our 2-1/4" belts with split leather. They are designed to accompany our reversible, split facing, 1-1/2" under belt and belt keepers to provide a non-slip, stable platform for a holster and multiple accessory attachments. The lined belts are all stitched around the edge to add strength and style. Many belts will mold to fit the natural contour of your body over a period of time. Belts designed to be durable and strong resist this natural shaping. AwlWorks offers a curved 2 1/4" belt to give immediate comfort and stability of a well broken in belt. The curved shape is designed to fit the natural contour of your waist and to allow the weight of any attachments to distribute across the width of the belt. This all adds up to hours of comfortable wear with minimal strain on the body. Not only are our belts strong, durable, and stylish, they come in a variety of widths to accommodate any use. We make our lined belts starting at 2-1/4 width; 1-3/4" will fit blue jeans or uniform pants belt loops; 1-3/8 and 1-3/16 widths are designed to fit casual or dress pant loops. In addition to the split facing under belt mentioned above, we make unlined garrison belts that look good on any uniform and can double as under belts. The garrison belts come in 1-3/4" and 1-3/8 widths. Harness Button (HB) System We use a unique harness button attachment system. The HB system was designed to provide better security than the old Sam Brown, while at the same time providing quick and easy operation. The HB system has proven to be very strong, durable, and versatile on any size belt. In fact, we like it so much it is the only attachment system we currently offer on our belts. 17 Belt Keepers There is no reason to skimp on what is essentially a safety strap for the entire duty rig. There are many stretched out, too thin, too light or just poor quality leather keepers out there. We make our belt keepers a full 1 inch wide out of our best 9 oz belt leather. The combination of the wider strap and heavy leather eliminates the stretching problems. We thought it better to make a double strength 1 inch keeper rather than just make a wider keeper that takes up scarce space on the duty belt. In response to requests for a heavy duty hidden snap keeper we make a double layered keeper that is incredibly strong. We fold a single piece of 4-1/2 oz leather so that the stress point on the tip will be solid leather and not two pieces that will come apart with use. We glue and stitch the leather together to make a stylish, strong and durable keeper. Handcuff Cases For some time there has been a need for a quick and easy access handcuff case that would provide adequate retention security. Most of the open top cases on the market today provide easy access, but the cuffs are exposed to view, easily accessible to anyone close enough to grab them and are prone to being hooked on anything the officer may rub against. Most flap type cases offer better security but are not as accessible. Years ago, a Federal Agency required a new type of handcuff case. The new cuff case had to have fast and easy access with one hand, without reflective snaps or a noisy Velcro fastener, and must hide the cuffs from view for better public relations. Also, the case had to offer a high degree of security for physically active officers. The resulting design was a handcuff case that completely covers the cuffs from view while leaving the cuffs available for immediate draw without operating any snaps or other fastener. Since there is no flap, the case can not be accidentally unsnapped. It is virtually a SPEED CUFF CASE. This cuff case is very flat and can be worn comfortably in almost any location. The handcuffs ride secure in the case and are not obviously available to anyone but the wearer. Best of all, the inside (palm out) draw offers an advantage no other covered case can match. TRY THIS EXPERIMENT: Reach behind yourself with your palm facing your belt as if drawing cuffs from a standard flap cuff case - reach as far as you can at belt level - now turn your palm out and you should be able to reach another 6 to 8 inches along your belt line. Most people can reach our cuff case with one hand no matter where the case is positioned on the belt. All you do is reach around and with palm-out and hook the cuffs - it's as simple as that. The P111 and P112 are designed for Peerless hinged and all standard chain cuffs. 18 Materials Our tooling leather is top grade, made from North American cattle hides that are vegetable tanned in the U.S.A. This leather provides exceptional strength, tooling and molding qualities. Since leather is a natural material, it is not uncommon to find some markings in the top grain of the hides. This allows for unique characteristics in every product we make. Not only the particular structure of the hide used but the mechanical and chemical operations that are employed in the making of the products contribute to each item being one-of-a-kind. Typically subtle, the uniqueness of each product should be appreciated. All items produced meet our high standards of function, appearance and durability achieved through our strict quality control processes. Our products are hand made in our shop in Bozeman, Montana. Along with the top grade leather, we use high quality dyes, heavy duty threads, and durable finishes to produce items that will require minimal care and maintenance throughout the extent of their use. We employ traditional leather crafter techniques to combine these materials and bring an exceptional line of gear to our customers. Care and Maintenance AwlWorks leather gear requires minimal care and maintenance throughout its service life. By following the tips below, you should get the maximum life out of our leather products. Regularly clean your leather product by wiping with a soft cloth and removing dust or dirt that has gotten on or inside the product. You may occasionally need to use a damp cloth and glycerin soap leather cleaner to provide a deeper cleaning to the product. These soaps not only clean the leather, but replace the tanning and natural oils of the leather that lubricate the fibers and prevent brittleness while maintaining strength. Since our products are heavily dyed, you will see minimal lightening of areas that are subjected to rubbing or scratching. There should seldom be the need to use a colored polish to cover up any marks in the leather. There are many good quality leather polish and balm products on the market that will also replace the natural oils of the leather. These will add a nice luster when buffed after drying. You will want to stay away from using additional oils such as mink oil, neatsfoot oil or mineral oil, especially on molded products. These will saturate the leather, speed the breakdown of the fibers and cause them to become too soft which decreases the performance of your product. Never submerge your leather gear in water. If your product becomes water saturated, gently reshape it and let it dry. Let the leather dry naturally; never hasten the drying by placing in the sun, using a hair dryer or putting near a heat source such as a radiator, fireplace or stove. Moisture can cause leather products to mildew and heat and sun can cause them to dry out or crack. Therefore, it is advisable that you store your leather products in a cool, dry place. Some metals, such as brass and copper, will oxidize when in contact with leather products over a period of time. If you see this happening, just clean the metal with a soft cloth. AwlWorks wants you to take care of your purchase. If you are unsure what to use on your product, we offer a leather touch-up kit for use on our leather products. This does not cover normal wear and tear or abuse of the product. Returns We want you to be satisfied with our products and we will do everything to make that happen. For this reason we offer an easy return process. If you find the product to be defective or just decide that the product is unsuitable for your use simply follow these steps: Contact AwlWorks at or info@awlworks.com within ten days of receipt of the product. Obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number and shipping instructions from AwlWorks. This RMA number must accompany any returned product. Return the item to AwlWorks in new and unused condition for a refund (less a 20% restocking fee) or an exchange. The shipping costs for returned goods and exchanges are the responsibility of the customer. If there is a manufacturing defect we will repair or replace the item (at our discretion) and return it to you without shipping fees. Consumer Safety AwlWorks products are made to secure or carry something in most cases. We feel it is important that you, as a consumer, understand the proper use that our products are intended as we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. After purchase and before use, visually inspect your product for any defects in materials or workmanship. If you have any questions, please call and ask. Make sure any item the carrier is intended for fits properly and securely before you carry it. If a carrier becomes ill-fitting, loose, worn or defective in any way stop using it immediately. Periodically inspect all stitching, rivets and snaps for breakage, loosening or other damage, paying special attention to the stress points. Do not leave any item in a carrier for extended periods of time without checking it for moisture or corrosion.
