Grant Scholars Program (Chunyan He, Principle Investigator) Title: Puberty timing-related genetic influences on somatic growth and blood pressure development in children and young adults The goal of this application is to determine the associations between puberty timing-associated genetic variants and the changes in physical growth (weight, height, and fat distribution) and blood pressure starting in childhood and continuing into adolescence in black and white children. Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Award, Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation (Chunyan He, Principle Investigator) Title: Genetic effects on tissue-specific telomere length and breast cancer risk The goal of this application is to evaluate the relation of telomere length to the risk of breast cancer, by assessing telomere lengths in paired peripheral blood and breast tissue samples as well as the association with breast cancer for genetic variations in known telomere length-maintenance genes.
