Citrix Storefront Application Access For Windows 7

1 Contained in this document are instructions for installing the Citrix Receiver on a Windows 7 computer with Internet Explorer 9. What are Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop? provided by Chichester School District to access district resources such as applications, files/folders and district desktops. The Citrix Receiver is a small client that allows you to gain access to applications located on the district s storefront website. The storefront website is a self-service website that contains access to resources that are assigned to you. ACCESSING THE SITE AND DOWNLOADING THE RECEIVER 1. Open your web browser and type the address to the storefront site Add this address to your trusted sites in Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools Menu Internet Options. 3. Once in Internet Options, click on the Security tab, select Trusted Sites, Then, click on the Sites option.

2 4. Within the Sites option, click Add. Once added, click Close. Then click OK. 5. At the storefront logon screen, enter your username and password. (This is the same username and password you use to logon to a district computer).

3 6. You will be prompted to install the Citrix Receiver. Make sure you check the box next to the license agreement, and then click Install. 7. At the bottom of your Internet Explorer screen, you will be prompted to run the Receiver Install. Click Run. You will then see the Receiver starting to download. 8. When the download is completed, the Receiver install will start. On the install screen, click Install. The install will begin and take several minutes. You should only have to install the receiver once on each machine.

4 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND NAVIGATION 1. When the install is completed, you will be logged into the district s self-service storefront home screen. You will notice several commonly used applications already visible on the home page. 2. You can add additional applications to your home page by clicking on the plus sign on the lefthand side of your screen.

5 3. Applications are arranged into groups. You will see MS Office 2010, Web Browsers, and All Applications. Office 2010 contains applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Web Browsers contains different browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox (at the time of this document Internet Explorer is the only browser that is published. Firefox will be available in the next few weeks) 4. Click on the application to add it to your home screen. You will see a green check mark next to the applications you have added on to your home screen. To remove an application, right click on the icon on your home screen and select remove. 5. To access a program, double-click on the application icon. This will start the connection process to the application. 6. Once the application is open, you can use that program as if you were on the district network. 7. Click on File Open, Select Computer on the left-hand side. You will see a list of all of your network drives (home directory, shared drives, etc).

6 8. You can now access documents associated to the application you opened (i.e. if you open word, you can now open word documents located in your home directory or shared drives). Below is an example of an Excel document opened through Citrix Xenapp. 9. When finished making changes, save your document in the same manner you would if working on a district computer (SAVE AS and choose the location in your H Drive). 10. Close the application by clicking on the x in the right hand corner of the screen (as you would normally do to close an application). This will take you back to the storefront home page. When you are done with the storefront, click your name at the top right of the screen and select logoff. Note: There is a known issue when logging off. If you click on the option to re-logon you receive a 404 Error Message. This is a known issue and the technology department is working on a fix. To get back to the logon screen re-type the web address back into the browsers address bar. Below is a screenshot of the error.
