2 The UND Employment Survey (formerly called the Placement Survey) was developed in 1997 through the partnership of Career Services and Institutional Research for the purpose of collecting demographic and employment information on recent University of North Dakota graduates. Over the years the use of this information has expanded and is now being used for university assessment purposes, provided to academic colleges, linked to the College Portrait (Voluntary System of Accountability), used by various offices and service areas across campus, and used for a number of internal and external questions regarding job placement and salary data. 3 1,440 UND undergraduate alumni who graduated in December 2010, May 2011, and August 2011, were mailed a questionnaire seeking demographic and employment information. A total of 556 alumni participated in the survey. After adjusting for undeliverable surveys, an adjusted response rate of 42% was attained. CREATIVE INNOVATIVE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRITED Page 2

4 Some of the findings 98% of respondents indicated being either employed or currently a student similar to the 96% reported last year. 85% (82% last year) of respondents indicated that their current position is directly related or somewhat related to the education they received at UND. The number of respondents indicating participation in an internship or cooperative dropped slightly this year compared to last year; 36% of the respondents reported participation compared to 38% last year. The respondents who did participate reported an average salary $2,856 higher than those who did not participate.
