LONG-SPAN JOIST SYSTEM More Than Just A Roof
YOUR TRADE - Architect - Principal contractor - Steelwork contractor - Structural engineer The Canam Joist is a lightweight, welded open-web steel truss that can be used in both roof and floor systems. They are fabricated according to a standardised process that is compatible with every possible type of building project. Each Canam Joist is custom designed to meet the unique characteristics of your building. This high-performance structural concept allows you to achieve larger spans, no matter the type of supporting components that are put in place. OUR MISSION Ensure competitive prices by standardising the design process and optimising manufacturing processes Help you deliver real added value to your customers Provide outstanding service from start to finish Supply quality products that comply with marking and SCI Assessment
ADVANTAGES Technical advantages: Ability to achieve longer spans (24 m and more) Minimum volume of materials Maximum column-free space facilitating flexible use of floor area and future adaptability Fewer foundations reducing time and cost Compatibility with other types of structural materials Enhanced building layout for handling equipment and systems Pre-assembled on the ground Easier - Faster - Safer Environmental benefits: 100% recyclable Minimal site waste Clean, dust-free construction process Off-site fabrication in a controlled environment = better quality Cost benefits: Overall construction costs are reduced Shorter construction schedule Distribution centres / Supermarkets 6,000 square meters Significantly reduced internal columns save time and costs in foundations and erection and delivers flexible column-free space.
MARKETS The Canam long-span joist system is the ideal building solution to meet all of your light structural steel construction needs. The erection process is simple, safe and quick. No matter the complexity of the structure, the Canam Joist system will allow you to bid competitively on multiple types of building projects: Distribution centres / warehouses Commercial and retail Public and institutional buildings Shopping centres / supermarkets Industrial buildings
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION Canam Joist is a welded, open-web steel joist system that is fabricated from cold-formed channel sections and hot-rolled angles. Common configurations Interior webbing Typical end support B S L 45 or 50 H 120 X Y Fabricated using the same high precision design and manufacturing processes for every single project, the Canam Joist system lets you build across longer spans whilst also reducing the weight of the structure. Canam Joist may be supported on primary trusses, steel beams, walls or concrete members. Open-web truss supports WPG supports Concrete beam supports Canam Joists are generally designed as simply supported, with intermediate bracing to provide restraint. Canam Joists may be used to support vertical loads only, or may be designed in combination with axial loads when they form part of the stability system.
IMPACT ON OTHER TECHNICAL COMPONENTS Concrete Optimal use of foundation blocks Possibility of using lightweight foundations, thus allowing for the integration of foamed concrete firewalls Cladding Low joist support height (120 mm) Shorter or lighter building Possibility of installing Agryss-type sockets or equivalent anchors along the perimeter of lifeline posts on Canam Joist components Roofing Wide range of possible headers and large dome lights, without the need for additional header framing Sprinklers Easily installed on chords Adjacent to the roof (open-web joist support height of 120 mm) Direct access, no need for elbow connectors Other systems Suspended ceiling Smoke barrier wall Ready to install Free of obstructions Minimal adaptation required Ready-made supports requiring little or no additional framing Ready-made supports requiring no additional framing
OUR SERVICES Provide a preliminary design proposal and drafting of roof components in collaboration with our engineering office (calculations, drawings and detailing). Supply welded open-web steel joists fabricated using a standardised manufacturing process to deliver an economic solution that is fully adapted to your building. All structural accessories required for the Canam Joist system are designed by Canam. On request by the steelwork contractor, such accessories, which include horizontal bracing, wind post lacing, frames around openings, all connection plates and so, can either be provided by steelwork contractor or by Canam. OUR CERTIFICATION AND SPECIFICATIONS The Canam Joist system is made in Europe under license. The product obtained Marking Accreditation to Execution Class 3 of EN A1 in October 2011 (certificate number 1166-CPR-0186). The Canam Joist design has been granted the SCI Assessed status. The full scope of the products covered by the assessment are described in SCI Report RT 1687 (February 2016). Joists are made from high-grade steel, hot or cold-formed steel profiles. Fabrication is executed in a specialised shop where the joists are assembled in automated templates and completely welded by certified workers. A primary coat of paint is applied in the shop using a dipping tank to protect Canam Joists (Grey RAL 7030 or according to option). It is also possible to have the joists galvanised or to add an additional coat of paint for extra protection. Our ongoing quality control system ensures that all our products correspond to your exact specifications. Steel stock Assembly and welding Paint dipping tank Logistics
