Hardware Requirements The following table lists the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application. Component Minimum Recommended Processor 1.5 gigahertz (GHz) or faster x86- or x64-bit dual core processor with SSE2 instruction set 3.3 gigahertz (GHz) or faster x86- or x64-bit dual core processor with SSE2 instruction set Memory 2-GB RAM or more 4-GB RAM or more Display Super VGA with a resolution of 1024 x 768 Super VGA with a resolution higher than 1024 x 768 Hard disk 1.5 GB of available hard disk space 2 GB of available hard disk space 7200 RPM or more Running Microsoft Dynamics CRM on a computer that has less than the recommended requirements may result in inadequate performance. Network requirements Microsoft Dynamics CRM is designed to work best over networks that have the following elements: Bandwidth greater than 50 KBps (400 kbps) Latency under 150 ms Notice that these values are recommendations and don t guarantee satisfactory performance. The recommended values are based on systems using out-of-the box forms that aren t customized. If you significantly customize the out-of-box forms, we recommend that you test the form response to understand bandwidth needs. More information: Verify network capacity and throughput for Dynamics CRM clients 4 P a g e
Browser Requirements Supported versions of Internet Explorer Microsoft Dynamics CRM will run in the following Internet Explorer versions: Internet Explorer 11 Supported operating systems when you use Internet Explorer The following operating systems are supported: Windows 8.1 when you use Internet Explorer 11 Windows 8 and Windows RT when you use Internet Explorer 11 Windows 7 when you use Internet Explorer 11 Windows 10 when you use Edge or Internet Explorer 11 Other supported web browsers In addition to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Dynamics CRM will run on the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista Google Chrome (latest publicly released version) running on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Nexus 10 tablet* Apple Safari (latest publicly released version) running on 10.8 (Mountain Lion) Note: Google Chrome is not currently recommended due to changes in the Google Chrome APIs. Note: Only Firefox and Chrome for Windows operating systems are compatible. If you want to run Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online on Mac, you must use Safari. Supported versions of Microsoft Office To use Microsoft Dynamics CRM with Microsoft Office integration features, such as Export to Excel and Mail Merge, you must have one of the following Microsoft Office versions on the computer that is running the Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application: Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office 2016 Microsoft Office P a g e
Device Support Users can access the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application on the most recent versions of the following browsers: Internet Explorer on Windows Firefox on Windows Safari on Mac OS X Chrome on Windows or Google Nexus 10 For more detailed information about supported browsers, see Web application requirements for Microsoft Dynamics CRM. For a mobile device, such as an ipad or smartphone, the following apps are available: Microsoft Dynamics CRM for ipad Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Windows 8 For more detailed information about supported phones and tablets, see Support for CRM for phones and CRM for tablets. Note Users who try to view Microsoft Dynamics CRM on an unsupported browser may be redirected to Microsoft Dynamics CRM for phones. This is a basic service that has limited functionality, and isn t intended to serve as a substitute for the full feature set of Microsoft Dynamics CRM. We recommend that users choose a supported browser or a Microsoft Dynamics CRM app specific to the device. If you have added content to forms or dashboards in an iframe, you might have implemented security restrictions around certain actions in that content, such as external links. Keep in mind that in Firefox, this security restriction code will likely be unsupported. Platform ios Versions 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x* RAM (minimum) 1 GB Android 4.4 and 5.0* 1 GB Windows Phone 8.1 and 10* 512MB, 1 GB recommended Note * These versions are supported in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online 2016 Update and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 (on-premises) or later. 6 P a g e
Common Configuration Settings for Internet Explorer & Google Chrome CRM Online is a web-based application, and uses a web browser as the user interface (UI) to view/edit/add/remove information you have stored in your CRM database. The following are common configuration settings which will help optimize your CRM Online experience. Add appropriate URLs to Trusted Sites The Security tab is used to set and change options that can help protect your computer from potentially harmful or malicious online content. By placing the URLs used for CRM Online into the Trusted Sites, it places less restrictions for these web sites. For Internet Explorer a. Open up Internet Explorer (IE) b. Go to Tools > Internet Options c. Click the Security tab d. Click Trusted Sites > Sites e. If you get another window that allows you to click Advanced please do so, then add the following URLs: *.dynamics.com *.live.com seap.crm4.dynamics.com seaptest.crm4.dynamics.com seapguides.org portal.office.com login.microsoftonline.com seap.cascadecloud.co.uk NOTE: If you get a pop-up window that states: Sites added to this zone must use the prefix. This prefix assures a secure connection. Uncheck the box for "Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone" f. Click Close and then click OK 7 P a g e
For Google Chrome a. Open Google Chrome b. Click on the Burger (the three lines icon at the end of the address bar) c. Click settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Show advanced settings d. Scroll down to Network and click Change proxy settings e. Click on the Security tab f. Click on the big green tick Trusted sites > Sites g. Add the following URLs as per the images below URLs: *.dynamics.com *.live.com seap.crm4.dynamics.com seaptest.crm4.dynamics.com seapguides.org portal.office.com login.microsoftonline.com seap.cascadecloud.co.uk NOTE: If you get a pop-up window that states: Sites added to this zone must use the prefix. This prefix assures a secure connection. Uncheck the box for "Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone f. Click Close and then click OK Version 4 8 P a g e
Increase Disk Space Size for Temporary Internet Files To ensure internet files for CRM Online are not being deleted, increase your Temporary Internet Files disk space. To do so: a. Follow the steps above until you arrive at the Internet Properties/Options box. b. Under the General tab in the Browsing history section click on Settings c. Update the field "Disk space to use" to 350 Note: Default is 50 d. Click OK and then click OK again Version 4 9 P a g e
Leave the "Delete browsing history on exit" option UNMARKED If you enable this option, all of your browsing history is deleted when you close Internet Explorer. It deletes everything marked within your Browsing History Settings button. To optimize your CRM Online experience, we recommend you leave this box UNMARKED. By default, Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History are enabled. Deleting your Temporary Internet files, will cause IE to cache the files again, and deleting the Cookies will cause you to be signed out of CRM Online. a. Follow the steps above until you arrive at the Internet Properties/Options box. b. Under the General tab locate the Browsing history section c. Ensure the check box "Delete browsing history on exit" is UNMARKED. Version 4 10 P a g e
Add Microsoft Dynamics CRM URLs to allow pop-ups CRM Online uses pop-up windows, such as when a new CRM record is opened or created. These pop-up windows can be blocked by the Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker. You must configure the Pop-up Blocker to allow the CRM Online URLs to be excluded from the Pop-up Blocker. For Internet Explorer a. Open up Internet Explorer (IE) b. Click Tools, click Pop-up Blocker, click Pop-up Blocker Settings Note: In internet explorer 9 this option can be found by clicking the Tools menu, clicking Internet Options, clicking the Privacy tab, and then clicking the Settings button within the Pop-Up Blocker section c. Add the following Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online URLs: *.dynamics.com *.live.com seap.crm4.dynamics.com seaptest.crm4.dynamics.com seapguides.org portal.office.com login.microsoftonline.com seap.cascadecloud.co.uk d. Close Version 4 11 P a g e
For Google Chrome a. Open Google Chrome b. Click on the Burger (the three lines icon at the end of the address bar) c. Click settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Show advanced settings d. Scroll to Privacy and click Content settings e. Scroll to Pop-ups and click Manage exceptions f. Add the following Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online URLs: [*.]dynamics.com [*.]live.com seap.crm4.dynamics.com seaptest.crm4.dynamics.com seapguides.org portal.office.com login.microsoftonline.com seap.cascadecloud.co.uk g. Click Done Ensure CRM Online is white-listed for anti-virus or malware applications CRM Online performance can be impacted negatively depending on your anti-virus or malware applications. Virus scanning can lock certain files making them inaccessible to other applications. Each environment requires a thoughtful decision on what to include and exclude, and there is always a possibility that excluding files from scans can lead to unwanted consequences. This list should be used alongside well planned internal IT management policies. Check for any interference from desktop security software. Some anti-virus programs include a feature called ScriptScan which can affect performance in CRM Online. Most programs have functionality to disable scanning on certain web sites. Make sure the CRM Online URL is added to this list. For McAfee specifically see the following KB articles for this setting: o o If using other anti-virus software, make sure the CRM Online website URL is included in the trusted zone for the virus scanning and disable on-access scanning for the CRM Online website. See your specific anti-virus application documentation for more details. Version 4 12 P a g e
Ensure you receive important s from CRM Online Microsoft will occasionally send out s to CRM Online users or administrators. These s can provide information about how to use CRM Online as well as critical billing or upgrade information. Ensure you have the following addresses added to the whitelist for your application. This is the alias that typical CRM Online alerts or information comes from. This alias sends out information in regards to billing for CRM Online. This alias sends out information s when you sign up for CRM Known Issues Known issues when you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM with certain web browsers This section describes the known issues when you run Microsoft Dynamics CRM in a web browser. Limited copy and paste support in Firefox and Chrome Copy and paste functionality by using the clipboard is not yet fully supported on the Firefox and Chrome web browsers; the Copy a Link button at the top of the page may not function as expected. You receive an error opening an Excel worksheet when you use Safari If you export a Microsoft Office Excel worksheet as a Dynamic Worksheet while using Safari, you may receive an error when trying to open the file. To remedy this, right-click the file, click Get Info, and, under Open With, select Excel. All issues that you experience when using CRM should be reported via the helpdesk along with a screenshot and description of what you were trying to do. The helpdesk, an interactive guide to using CRM and a downloadable reference guide are available at: Version 4 13 P a g e
