2 1) Statement f plicy In accrdance with ur missin statement, we pledge t respect the equal human rights f all ur pupils and t educate them abut equality. We will als respect the equal rights f ur staff and ther members f the schl cmmunity. In particular we will cmply with the Equality Act 2010 and exercise ur Public Sectr Equality Duty t supprt decisin making and deliver plicies and services which are efficient and effective, accessible t all; and which meet different peple s needs. The aim f this plicy is t cmmunicate the cmmitment f Riverside Schl Gvernrs and Senir Leadership Team t the prmtin f equality f pprtunity at Riverside Schl fr its pupils, parents, staff and visitrs. It is ur plicy t prvide equality t all, irrespective f: Disability Age. Gender reassignment Marital r civil partnership status Pregnancy and maternity Religius belief r plitical pinin Race (including clur, natinality, ethnic r natinal rigins) Sex (Gender) Sexual rientatin We are ppsed t all frms f unlawful and unfair discriminatin. All pupils, parents/carers, jb applicants, emplyees and thers wh wrk fr us will be treated fairly and will nt be discriminated against n any f the abve grunds. N prejudice shuld prevent pupils, staff and parents frm having access t a range f pprtunity within the schl and beynd. Prepare and publish equality bjectives - t d this we will cllect data related t the prtected characteristics abve and analyse this data t determine ur fcus fr ur equality bjectives. The data will be assessed acrss ur cre prvisins as a Schl. This will include the fllwing functins: Admissins; Attendance; Attainment; Exclusins; and Prejudice related incidents. 2.3) Our bjectives will detail hw we will ensure equality is applied t the services listed abve hwever; where we find evidence that ther functins have a significant impact n any particular grup we will include wrk in this area. We als welcme ur duty under the Educatin and Inspectins Act 2006 t prmte cmmunity chesin. 2.4) We recgnise that these duties reflect internatinal human rights standards as expressed in the UN Cnventin n the Rights f the Child, the UN Cnventin n the Rights f Peple with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act ) Our Eths This is a place where: learning is fun; pupils are supprted and encuraged t be all that they can be; all effrts are acknwledged and celebrated; everyne is valued and respected as an individual; we will prmte equality and diversity t ur pupils and where we pledge t meet the needs f all ur individuals; everyne is encuraged t be part f and cntribute t the cmmunity; and encurage everyne t make healthy life chices. 4) Addressing Prejudice Related Incidents 4.1 The Schl is ppsed t all frms f prejudice and we recgnise that children and yung peple wh experience any frm f prejudice related discriminatin may fair less well in the educatin system. We prvide bth ur pupils and staff with an awareness f the impact f prejudice in rder t prevent any incidents. If incidents still ccur we wuld investigate them immediately in line with ur Cmplaints Plicy. 4.2 Parents/carers r pupils wh believe that they have suffered any frm f discriminatin, harassment r victimisatin shuld raise the matter with the Headteacher in line with Riverside Schls Cmplaints prcedure. This is available n ur website

4 4.3 Emplyees wh believe that they have suffered any frm f discriminatin, harassment r victimisatin are entitled t raise the matter thrugh the agreed grievance prcedures. A cpy f these prcedures is available frm the Business Manager. 4.4 All cmplaints f discriminatin will be dealt with seriusly, prmptly and cnfidentially. 4.5 In additin t ur internal prcedures, emplyees have the right t pursue cmplaints f discriminatin t an industrial tribunal r the Fair Emplyment Tribunal under the Equality Act Hwever, emplyees wishing t make a cmplaint t a tribunal will nrmally be required t raise their cmplaint under ur internal grievance prcedures first. 4.7 Every effrt will be made t ensure that emplyees wh make cmplaints will nt be victimised. Any cmplaint f victimisatin will be dealt with seriusly, prmptly and cnfidentially. Victimisatin will result in disciplinary actin and may warrant dismissal. 5) Objectives 5.1 In achieving cmpliancy with the Act, bjectives are set annually. Detailed belw are the Schl s current set f verriding bjectives. Objective Grup Objective Pupil Achievement All pupils are assessed, mnitred and tracked thrugh a variety f tls including SOLAR, P Scales; Engagement Prfile; Sunds f Intent; IEPs, Behaviur Supprt Plans; Read Write Inc.; and a range f accredited curses. Under-achievement is identified and apprpriate interventin is applied. Pupils are able t participate in a range f extracurricular pprtunities. Behaviur and Safety Pupils respect ne anther. Pupils feel safe and valued. Pupils, staff and parents knw that miscnduct and grss miscnduct will be challenged. Teaching All pupils experience 100% gd r better lessns. Leadership and The staff and gverning bard reflects the diversity f Management the Riverside Cmmunity. N pupils (r families) are disadvantaged academically, scially r emtinally. All staff are mindful f the academic and scial needs f all children, especially ptentially vulnerable children. 5 5.2 The Schl will make reasnable adjustments t meet the needs f all pupils aimed at: (a) (b) (c) increasing the extent t which disabled pupils can participate in the curriculum; imprving the physical envirnment f schls t enable disabled pupils t take better advantage f educatin, benefits, facilities and services prvided; and imprving the availability f accessible infrmatin t disabled pupils. 6) Respnsibility a.
